thanks a lot. I've been trying to use the most accurate elevation data to cnc some topo maps of small geographic regions and this has helped immensely.
thank a lot!, im a fs19 modder and a lot of time ago i started making a map from a farm in real life for the game and it was really frustating, the dem never loked the same as real life, and thanks to you i discovered this way to import the dem of google maps to the game!, really thank you so much and greetings from uruguay!
Hey, awesome video, this is something have wanted to learn for ages! I am a little stuck on the HotKeys section I fear that they may be different on Mac. What are the tools to use without the HotKey?
Thanks for your video, I'd like to know if it's posible to change the shape of the model considering the valleys, i don't really know how to explain myself but I don't want to cut the mountains in that way, I prefer something more "natural"
Hey Thank you so much for that tuto! Super easy! But I'm a rookie in blender and I have a question. When I export under STL for printing, my STL file is super huge! Any idea how to shrink to a printable size? Or do you know how to cut it in several pieces for printing? Thank you!!
For Mac Big Sur doesn't work well, because when I open the gis map , it's impossible zoom in and out or make any type of work on it.... I need a support because I'm working on my thesis ,if anyone can help me , please answer here , thank you .
Goodnight! I'm trying to make this process and from Blender export to STL, try to print. Can you help me with 2 points? Map quality (the trees are cubic) Is there any way to improve this? I couldn't adjust the Z axis, that is, the map in blender is with the terrain relief, to print it would have to be flat, I've already tested S+0, S and still I couldn't do it, does anyone know how to do it? Thanks!!
thanks for the video - this is great, but dose it work in a city with buildings and city? i tried two cities and it dosent work... is there a different workflow?
As far as I know it will receive the ground information but does not place buildings across it which makes sense since they are constantly changing anyway
@@personal_reminders thanks for the replay , i actually found a way, pretty easy and straight forward. the last question is how can i add a base layer??
@@marcoc.1646 im not sure how to do it, can u tell me how? If not would be great to know what i need to google in order to do it, or get a youtube tutorial
I have a doubt because at the end of the video you show the map in 3D but not textures and at begining you show the capture in texture but in 2d, this make the captures in 3D WITH THE TEXTURES ?
In blender There is different viewing mode options. At the end of the video I switched over to the modeling tab and didn't bother Enabling texture view So the file I exported actually did have textures, I just didn't have that layer Enabled in the view settings of the modeling tab. My focus of this video was not On the texture Since it is irrelevant for 3D printing. (Unless you have a expensive multi colour printer.) in summary. The texture was always there And I could have easily played with it But I didn't bother Turning on texture view.
@@personal_reminders Ok I understand, but if I would like to see the 3D result with the textures it's possible for buildings too ( with the textures ) ?
@@JhonPitre at 3:02 you can see the final result. In this video I capture a mountain So there is no buildings If you Picked a very Dense Location Like Calgary, AB There might be a few skyscrapers or big buildings, but they would show up as shapes in the file without the texture. The texture is just a color put onto a shape after the fact. And if you look on Google Maps, they are very sparse With their shapes (No trees, residences or random houses Only major landmarks and the Geographic height map) .
click on orientation so that you facing the side of it / in edit mode hit extrude and pull down and then press the following S then Z then Zero. done : )
The latest version of Blender no longer supports the "P" shortcut, you must use the "E" hotkey to get an editable plane.

Very easy to follow this tutorial, thanks!

Hey, awesome video, this is something have wanted to learn for ages! I am a little stuck on the HotKeys section I fear that they may be different on Mac. What are the tools to use without the HotKey?
as far as I know there aren't physical options I recommend watching some CZcams videos on how to use blender
I found it out, just add a shift in front of all the hotkeys, (e.g: Shift+g would be the go box)

Would this work for cities as well?
I want to know too. I tried to do it in a city but the buildings are leveled, not topographically. Anyone have a solution?
Does not seem to work anymore. The plugin looks totally different and does not add the GIS menu as shown. Bummer !!!
Thank you for the heads up. I guess I'll have to make another video next time I wanna try doing this again.
Sick, would it be possible to cut out an entire country?
hello, how can you make the bottom even? I can't do that
try hitting the keys on your keyboard in order as described at 5:00 (note when I say it just hit it on the keyboard)
