Baku Funicular (Azerbaijani: Bakı funikulyoru) is a funicular system in Baku, Azerbaijan. It connects a square on Neftchilar Avenue and Martyrs' Lane.[1] It is the first and remains the only funicular system in the country.

I'm struggling to understand how those switches in the track work. They look like the cars' wheels would either get caught on the crossing section or have to bounce over top of them, but the movement across them seems perfectly smooth. Do they have moving parts?
