In this video I show how I was able to fix my intermittent wipers on my 2003 Chevy Suburban. This should be the same or very similar process for most gm vehicles of this era.

My 1997 Silverado had the same issue many years ago. It was a cold solder joint issue. It took longer to heat the soldering iron up then it was to fix it. The broken solder joint just needed to be reheated. The issue was with one of the three solder connections located top left of the image at the 5:30 mark of this video. If you use a magnifying glass you should be able to spot the broken one. Thin crack that encircles the soldered post. Or just reheat all three.
The issue I had and repaired was 20 years ago. No problems since . . . with the wipers that is 🙂

The grease on top of the round gear should be dielectric grease (bulb grease).. Thre are two contacts on that wheel which those two fingers contact with. If you get a big wad of grease in between them, you might see some issues come up.. Those contacts are the timing circuity sensor for knowing that the wipers made it back home position again...
Great video here. I would have liked to see inside the box though (gear part and how it was greased)..
    thanks!

Thank you. Although mine is an ‘04 Silverado, the process was very similar. A couple of minor differences but those made mine slightly easier. I received the wrong part, so I’ll have to wait til Sunday to reinstall the new one. I wouldn’t have even attempted this project except for your excellent detailed video. Thanks again.

This just happened to my 2003 tahoe. I realized my foglights weren't working the other day and suspected it might be the relay so I swapped the relay with wiper relay of the same part number. My lights still didn't work and it ended up being bad bulbs. It just found it odd that both bulbs would be out simultaneously. Anyway, the next day I have this wiper issue. I think my disturbing the relay may have been just enough to irritate my pulse board enough to cause the solder to fail.

I thought I had the same problem...windshield wipers wouldn't turn off. They ran at fast speed until I turn the key off (strangely enough they sometimes turned off when my revs were low but when I stepped on the gas they would start up again - full speed)...
Sooo... before I could change the motor it burned out from being on for a week. Whoops!
I switched out the motor which came with a new pulse regulator onboard but... they are still running.
Seem to have two speeds this time but they are still not turning off.
