Soul hearts, keys, bombs? You want it? It’s your my friend, as long as you have enough pennys
Sorry Isaac, I can't give credit. Come back when you have some more MMMMMM pennies!
My faith in humanity has been restored.
@@adrianpietrzak7568 Sorry Isaac. I CAN give credit, but I want my money now.
@@thebiolibrary5572 Can't wait for the new item selling mechanic!
HOW DID I NOT THINK OF THIS
I love how Isaac tries to please Greed, like he's clinging into the one person that isn't trying to kill him, even if that person doesn't care about anything but his money.
What an ingenius explanation!
Especially given how he never really listens to Isaac. He always talks over him, as if Isaac isn’t even there; just someone with HIS money.
This song also has me thinking, "What the hell is he even gonna spend that money on? It's not like there's any shops beside his own." But then I realised "Oh yeah, he's literally Greed itself." Greedy people will always try to get as much money as they can, even when realistically most of it will never even be spent on anything. Only makes Isaac's world feel even more depressing.
honestly sounds alot sadder when you think of it
like if your stuck in your mom basement crawling with unholy creatures to only stumble across a shop to have a greedy person inside who wont listen to you and expects you to hand over your money for some good upgrades
*proceeds to bomb greed In hopes of getting a dime nickel or a couple of pennies
2:27 “Even those who claim to be pure fall to their own greed”
That line hits *hard*
Hey, corruption corrupts absolutely, no one said just because you saved some puppies that you are spared from that.
Oh absolutely 👏
This hits harder than mashing buttons on super smash
Darby really does a great job of making Greed's voice feel inviting but foreboding at the same time. Like "Sure, I can help. But it'll cost you, and by the way, I really don't care if you die as long as I get paid." He's like a light in this dark cruel world where you can get help and don't have to worry about fighting for your life, but doesn't that make him morally good. He charges you for your own survival, and Isaac has already been through a living hell. Plus, making deals with greed itself reinforces the idea Isaac is considered a sinner. Feeds nicely into the whole deadly sin idea. Besides what the hell is he even gonna spend them on? It's not like there's any shops beside his own. Only makes you realise he really is just greedy, wanting all the money he can get, even if he can't use it anywhere.
Ann also does a great job of portraying Isaac's innocence and hopelessness. He just follows along with what he's told no matter what because he literally has no choice if he wants to live.
I dont think all the sins have their own ost, if they did. I can see MOTI doing a whole series on them, and a collab with all 7 sins at the end. This is not uncluding ultra greed as he isnt a miniboss.
@@jeremycocciolone9223 The revelations mod adds in special music for each of the sin mini-bosses, but I doubt they’d do lyrics for fan-made content sadly.
It's like greed is taunting Isaac
hes pretty much the embodiment of greed
literally and metaphorically
like you said since he is greed he isnt bad but just costs you for your own living sake
Those pennies are chocolate (even if not greed likes them)

If you've paid attention, you may or may not have noticed that even the lyrics are showing the character of both Isaac and Greed. Isaac, being a very young child, uses a simple font, no capital letters at all and hardly uses punctuation marks. Whereas Greed, who displays himself as a tradesman, uses a font which makes him seem more sophisticated, yet slightly intimidating, uses capital letters where needed and uses punctuation marks.
I am so glad this channel exists. They put so much love and effort into their work. Even with the YT algorithm and all its flaws. Keep up the good work!

@@theminiyosshi2901 I sense an unnecessary insult...
here's an interesting parallel between Greed and Isaac, with greed being an ancient, dead version of Isaac, the instrument you synced his voice to is a regular piano, while Isaac himself has his voice synced to a toy piano. just a neat detail.
just imagine walking into a store in a basement and seeing an hanged dead corpse with spiders coming out of his mouth

It finally here, boooooooooooois!
It was an honor to do a cover with the legendary Darby! Everyone involved did an awesome job! ^^
Holy moly! That's incredible! :D
You did a great job in this. You really capture Isaac's voice and of course, the contrast between your meek, soft voice and Darby's booming and haunting tones really help make this song something special.
Yes booooiiiii
It was an honor performing with you too! Excellent work on this. ^^
Words cannot describe how good a job you did.
The character you gave greed is a true example of what greed is. It's helpful and comforting, yet costing and harmful. The longer you use greed the more the downsides seem to beat the good sides. All while you know you can stop it, but choose not to. That's why the shopkeeper warns you about spending too much, yet wants you to spend anyways. Greed is nice if used in small portions, but can kill in the long run.
That's not a "true" example of greed. That's just explaining greed for money and is a hidden danger for the unaware or the uncaring. There can be greed for power (megalomaniacs), greed for material things (hoarders), etc etc, it just depends on who you ask. All the sins are involved in one way or another with each other but one takes prevalence over the others each time. One is the driver while the others take their seats on the bus, if you will.
@@VampiricDragon666 Isn`t megalomania actually described more as a lust for power? Yeah it goes both ways, but i think lust is more dominant here.

Me, who jammed the machine four floors ago with just one penny: -_-
Gods that's a mood. When recording for this I kept jamming it on my runs meant for donations and had to restart so many times.
@@ProfessorMor It is pretty annoying, isn't it?
Eventually on a file I started as a sort of precursor to Repentance before it comes out in a couple of months, I got sick of the constant jams and installed a mod that prevents them from happening.
I wish they functioned a little more like the Greed machine. Granted, that one jams too but its jamming chance is determined by however many coins you've already donated as whichever character you happen to be playing as. The normal shop machines have no such rule and just jam at complete random.
Heck, even making it so the later machines aren't also jammed would be an improvement.
you can't expect greed to spend money on making his donation machine run smoothly
@@BigHatLoganGaming just like my landlord and the FUCKING WASHING MACHINES

Probably how he feels everytime we bomb him lmao
My money, noooo
Greed's an interesting one, isn't he? He's got his own song, his own game mode! And, well, he's the only sin that doesn't (always) attack Isaac on sight.
On the other hand.
The devil demands a pound of flesh, but greed? Greed wants your money.
There's no distance there. No "bloodthirsty monster that wants you dead and vaguely represents something evil", no trading away your life (well, heart containers) for power.
Desire is the driving force behind all animal behavior, wealth has uplifted us from pathetic wretches to noble and proud beings, humans will inevitably tend to behave according to incentives more often than according to morality, scarcity is a dilemma that has birthed entire fields of study simply to try to formulate the least monstrous solution, and bombs are half price.
You gotta deal with this guy. I get the impression that some people don't like that about him. You don't just get to smack him and leave (not usually, anyway).
Often times, you're only alive because of Greed. Even metaphorically, that item or room you went out of your way for (purely because you _wanted_ it) might have just saved you. Sometimes, that item's one you bought from the man himself.
I love it.
Well... he doooooooooes soooooooometimes beat the shit out of you, crush your skull and take your cash.
He's certainlymthe most interesting of the sins, that's for sure.

I'm so happy with how this video turned out. Binding is Isaac has always been a special game to me and having the opportunity to write the lyrics for this song was a dream come true. Mixed with Darby and Ann's vocals, this is just so amazing all around 💙❤️

I love those little details (don't know if intentional). When Greed sing about sins, there is Lust, when he sings about seeing the light, Isaac has Hoky Shot, when Greed sings that no one can hide from him, Isaac is fighting Greed and when Greed sings about being greedy, Lost is opening holy chests showing that he is greedy.

Greed just seems like the type of guy who has an obsession but can be a chill person to hang around
Ya just explained how greed would probably act and how I am, are you a wizard?
( did ya get the reference if not it’s the pill “are you a wizard” in the game )
he's definitely the kind of guy to eat all the food at a sleepover while everyone is asleep
like some drug addicts, i have heard they are some chill ass people
Leave it to these guys to take something like Isaac and make a haunting, endearing song out of part of the OST that just drips with atmosphere through the lyrics and singing that fits the overall dreary tone of the game itself. I can only imagine the kind of lyrical dread they could put forth through songs based on other characters and bosses.
-Sloth could come from existentialism and dread. Isaac's lyrics of "don't know why I bother" is a perfect possibility of why Sloth would be sloth; what would doing anything matter when death is likely just right around the corner no matter what?
-Pride would just extol the joy of not caring about anybody but yourself; others are just stones to prop yourself up on.
-Envy could flip the above concept by talking about how nobody else deserves what they've gotten; why should they thrive and he suffer?
-Lust could have a stalker-ish and hedonistic view of desire, no love and only pleasure, and selfish pleasure at that. (Though given Isaac's age and all, I wouldn't expect Lust to get much focus if even getting a song...)
-Wrath would just be unbridled anger and vitriol brought to bare, seething rage beneath every syllable.
-Gluttony could be the one more comical of the seven, but still have undertones of an insatiable hunger, a hole that can't ever be permanently filled.
Then there's others besides the seven sins, like the Harbingers all singing songs of doom, Mom herself with a twisted song about her devotion to her beliefs and misguided attempts at trying to make things right or such, the dueling madness of some bit of mother's love being buried beneath insanity making her view Isaac as a demon, Isaac himself facing against himself and reflecting on whether or not he's a bad child, the devil tempting Isaac to darkness with dark promises and talking about how the world above certainly offered him no light to save him, Hush with an oppressive, quiet song that hints at what's slowly happening to Isaac, and Delirium joining the likes of Marx and Jevil's ilk in being a chaotic song jumping from beat to subject in the lyrics, but inevitably leading towards Isaac's final fate...
Perhaps I went a little overboard here, but I'd say it's a testament to how good this one song is that it sent this much going through my mind for a time. :)
That would be awesome!
100% up for your ideas
Criminally underrated comment, man. I'd actually love to see these ideas being used for future videos
what about gluttony.
Good
Maybe make lust a craving for someone to just care about him? Lust doesn't HAVE to mean sexual things. Like the lust for power? In the games lust runs after Isaac and doesn't stop, maybe interprete that was lust being that great desire for someone, hell anyone to care? Just someone to hold him close and say everything will be alright. Not sexual in any way. Just an idea tho.

just for fun, here's what greed's selling in the shops at 0:00 & 1:45 , going left to right, top to bottom
-Rib of Greed (5 pennies) : Trinket, Prevents Greed and Super Greed from spawning as bosses, increases coin drops
-Key (5 pennies): Unlocks various locks throughout the basement. Never hurts to have a few.
-Bat Wing (5 pennies): Trinket, When you kill an enemy, there's a small chance you'll gain flight for the rest of the room
-Plan C (15 Pennies): Single use Active Item, will kill all enemies in a room on use... then kills you 15 seconds later. Only use in emergencies.
-Sack of Sacks (15 Pennies): Passive Item, has a chance of dropping sacks full of items whenever you clear a room.
-Just a small keeper. Not an actual item, probably just providing the extra vocals when greed sings over themselves.
-D1 (15 pennies): Active Item, randomly duplicates a pickup item in the room you're in.
-Black Feather (5 Pennies): Trinket, gives +0.2 damage for each "sinful" item you have
-Counterfeit Penny (5 Pennies): Trinket, has a chance to double pennies when they're collected
-Zodiac (15 Pennies): Passive, Upon starting a floor, gain one of the effects of the zodiac items, chosen at random.
-Holy Mantle (15 Pennies): Passive, Blocks the first instance of damage you would have taken in a room. Refreshes upon entering a new room.
[NOTE: it could also be the relic, but the lighter color/marks on the cross make me think it's holy mantle... but just to have all bases covered:
-The Relic (15 Pennies): Passive, spawns a familiar that creates a soul heart every four rooms]
-Lil Chest (15 Pennies): Passive, spawns a chest familiar that drops a pickup every few rooms
-Swallowed Penny (5 Pennies): Trinket, spawns pennies whenever you take damage.
-Crow Heart (5 Pennies): Trinket, If you have soul/black hearts along with normal hearts, damage will be first applied to normal hearts (as opposed to normal, where soul/black hearts take priority)

Hes just singing there... MENACINGLY
One thing I sortof dislike about Greed is the pop culture interpretation of it.
Greed is, by definition, the perversion of ambition. It is the willingness to sacrifice the things that should never be sacrificed for further progress towards an objective.
Greed is the shortsighted desire to obtain that progress as immediately as possible, or progress even past worthlessness.
It is like if you bought a shovel to dig a hole, dug until the shovel's handle broke, and threw away the shovel head even though the head is fine and the handle is easily replaceable.
Or, you just keep digging far past the point of the hole being useful. People even fall in and die from the fall, but you keep on digging. There is no reason other than having the deepest hole, and the increasing costs and effort are creating an exponential strain on yourself and the people who have to deal with the hole and excess dirt, but you still keep digging.
It is irrational by nature, and the most prevalent sin. Think of the corporate billionaire that will bribe politicians to make a law that makes them 10% more money. They already have a ton of money that they can barely use, so why have more?
Greed in Isaac, meanwhile, is what Isaac considers to be his primary Sin, hence why it isn't as hostile. The very game even needs the player to get greedy every now and again to push forward.
greed looks kinda cute despite being an actual husk of a corpse.
I agree he's kinda cute with the rope I thought I was the only one lol but I think Azazel is cute too weirdly enough

You've made it far,
To get so deep,
What a relief...
While you're here won't you donate all your pennies to me...?
Verse 6:
Right, in the slot,

Just, put them in,
(I mean if you're really sure...)
It, gives upgrades,

(I hope I can trust you, Greed...)
Greed, is what I am,
'Cause no one can,
Hide from their sins,

isaac: please i just want to buy something...
Greed: "Even if you try to run away you still must pay"
Mr. Me, Double Steam Sale, Diplopia, Crooked Penny, Store Credit, and Credit Card: "are we a joke to you?"
hello
@Noah zzstu Smith it's probably more greed in general, with a focus on shopkeepers
@Noah zzstu Smith alright then.
I don't really see it tbh
@Noah zzstu Smith how?
@Noah zzstu Smith yeah, I know
Me: nobody can add lyrics to the TBoI ost and make it sound good-
Man on the Internet: I did!
Me: NOT SCIENTIFICALLY POSSIBLE!
Not scientifically Probably I think you mean ;)
MotI: *posts this*
You: "off"
I'm uh, not quite sure what ya mean there ^^;;
@@ProfessorMor i meant uff as for the OP realising he was disproven because this Song is good

Darby is the only guy eho has a bass so deep you can shit yourself but also can play the shrill screamy guy.
Corpsehusband but thats due to his medical issues.
Oh, nice touch. All the shop items are greed mode unlocks for each character and even the most important one holy mantel for the lost. Nice job artist
NGL, hadent noticed that before you said it!
Funfact: The vocals of Greed and Papyrus were sung by the same person.
Darby you are insane dude, I love it!
Game Theory: Greed is Papyrus
"everybody wants a piece of the pie which is me" nah bro I want that fuckin CAKE you got there
Damn, that voice is as smooth as butter.
This is so good interpretation of Greed Shop
Greed is one of the most important beings in TBOI, since it was Isaac's father gambling addiction is one of the key factors for the history to happen
We NEED more Isaac songs... it'd be interesting to hear one for every floor's main theme, and also the boss themes
Legend has it that if you ask for Megalovania, this song starts playing behind you
@Neil Vaccaro WhEn'S MeGaLoVaNiA?
*is killed by Greed*
i love the artwork in this video. the first one has Greed very welcoming with items in the backround and the second has him with pennies in his eyes with a foreboding posture and isaac almost cowering infront of him
Who else thought this would end with Isaac blowing up greed?
would be even better if he did it in the middle of greed's last word
Me
I definitely didn’t expect this, and especially didn’t expect it to be THAT good
Man you are the KING of drawing and singing. I’m really GREEDY for more Binding of Isaac content.
I never found Greed scary, but HO boy has this song changed that.
I also like how nostalgia clocks me in the back of my head and takes whatever I was gonna do and just says, "Enjoy this for 30 minutes." And I always obey-
Both voices are so well done that I can't even say which one I like most
I never thought I would hear a sometimes reanimated corpse sing, especially one with a rope around its neck.
My mind is now just placing this with those shops in the mystery dungeons games
That godamn keckleon is worse than greed
Now i would love a lyrics of Divine Combat (from The Binding Of Isaac)
As a *The Keeper* main, i can confirm this is exactly what is going inside my head while playing
I was half expecting it to suddenly switch gears to Chorus Mortis and Greed flipping out
guys, I think greed is what he is
Darby’s vocal versatility is *insane*
anyone else think Greed sounds like sans if he was creepy?
Its sans but depressed
Kinda funny since he’s voiced by the same guy as Papyrus in Undertale The Musical if I remember correctly
@@aidenhanson884 true
sans trying to get some cash so he can pay off his debt to grillby
nah, sans has a...slightly higher pitch
Issac: I just hope I can trust you Greed
*five seconds later*
Issac Vs Greed
me as a pretty old isaac player i would say that this song is one of the best i've heard about the binding of isaac
This choice of what his voice would be makes his character feel more expressive, and I love that
Isaac: they never drop what I need
I feel ya isaac... I feel ya
Neat lyrics, talking about the inevitability of greed. after all, money makes the world go round
"Even those who claim to be pure fall to their own gree" soo poetic yet true.
I have thousands of hours in this game and hearing lyrics to a song i've heard so much is truly astounding and I love this, keep up the good work man.
Ok, I know this is Darby singing this but anyone else think this sounds like steel is singing kinda?
if mr krabs was a binding of isaac character
agreed
Ohhh I see what you did there
@proman i inni I know but still
Can I just say they nailed the voice of Isaac
Lil more scared but yea
@@thatonegal32 I would be scared too if I was going through what Isaac was going through
I don't think I'll be able to hear this song again without singing anymore, but it's worth it!
Greed: all their mistakes will just keep growing till you can't see the light of day
Me at 9 am:its dark
2:28 Best part about this scene? It shows that not just money paves the road to greed. Hoarding anything, even if relatively invaluable, or spending frivolously in hopes of wealth in one form or another; that’s greed.
That’s kind of a main theme of the game, I think it’s neat
Holy shit i read it as "3 years ago" and was wondering
1) how it's so good
2) why I didn't see this before
3) why it has so little views
4) why it got recommended to me today
And then realized that no, this happened last week.
Greed's voice sounds so familiar and calming I love it
The Keeper spitting bars for a thing that I always blow up.
*Yes.* this is just a YES, I loved this theme when I played the original, kind of miss it in Rebirth but its still holds up. Also two things, 1. This is made so well since it sounds like someone taking advantage of a child who doesn't know better (which is exactly what's happening), and 2. I'd love to hear more of these classic Isaac songs with lyrics (and waiting for this to have a 1 hour version)
Same about the hour loop
