It’s really sad that supposedly an official Nintendo poll said people didn’t care about SPM’s story when it was arguably the best part of the game and no Paper Mario game since has even come close to recapturing the feeling of it. To me, I love how the original trilogy kept expanding on what a Mario RPG can accomplish and it’s a shame that they don’t realize what they have, especially considering that Paper Mario is currently the only Mario RPG available.

Omega The half skeleton Both games are in limbo due to the former being based off a collab between Nintendo and Square which hasn’t been followed up on besides a few Mario sport games (Hoops 3 on 3 and Sports Mix) and Alphadream went bankrupt last year so that leaves the later on a indefinite hiatus.

When was a young lad, I saw a commercial on TV for Paper Mario: Sticker Star. I thought it looked cool, so I asked my parents for it. Since I just said I wanted Paper Mario, they probably didn’t know specifically what I meant. Thus, they gave me Super Paper Mario, and I knew it wasn’t the thing I wanted. I still tried it anyway, and after getting stuck multiple times, I beat the game when I was 11. I didn’t get the story that much, but I still enjoyed it. I never really realized how good the game was when I was a kid, and to think I wouldn’t have any nostalgia for it if my parents didn’t accidentally buy me the game.

Another fun observation: Dimentio is the only minion who doesn't have the line "three cheers for the count!" anywhere in his song. Funny that.

This game made me realise how great of a character Luigi is. It's nice seeing him actually being important as opposed to getting tossed aside like almost every other mario game

Kelly The Kitty And yet Mario still gets so much of the credit. Literally Bowser (and maybe Dreambert) is one of the only people to ever properly address him in a serious situation, which is kinda sad considering how rude he is.

The reign of Luigi begins...
You know, I've noticed that when each minion says the line "Three cheers for the Count", it tends to reflect their loyalty and feelings towards him. Here's what I mean:
O'Chunks is an interesting case, as he technically only says the line once. Even so, he spends about half of his song talking about Bleck, which does reflect O'Chunks's loyalty to him.
Mimi says the line a couple of times, and her reasoning is laid out in her next line: "Three cheers for the Count, who gives the power to take you out" she isn't directly attached to Count Bleck, only to the freedom and power he gives her.
Nastasia definitely says the line the most, for two important reasons: one is that she is brainwashing the army members and it's been scientifically proven that repeated phrases can make the subjects believe them when said enough. Two is that she is far and away the most attached to Count Bleck, so the phrase has much more meaning to her.
Mr. L doesn't really say the line much, as one comment pointed out, he says the line and then immediately starts talking about himself again: "sing out 'Three cheers for the Count' now go my Brobot go!" as if he's so egotistical he doesn't really care about Bleck, but is still subliminally primed to glorify him anyways.
Dimentio never mentions him at all, which alludes to him not only not caring about Bleck, but being against his plans as well. Although, the real reason is that Dimentio's songs came out before that phrase was concieved.
Edit: *The comment about Mr. L that I mentioned is actually on the Brobot Musical Byte video, not this one.*
Edit 2: *I made O'Chunks's more accurate to him. I wanted to edit Mimi's, but honestly, I would say she's an exception to the observation, since she is implied to have feelings for Bleck, though you (and I when I made this comment) wouldn't know that from the lyrics.*

I mean Mimi was implied to have feelings for the Count in the game, but I get why someone would think that off of the lyrics alone. O'Chunks is incredibly loyal to the Count, but when fighting he's all about being macho though still honorable regardless.

Y'know, this game is just so fleshed out that I constantly forget that the characters are made of god dang paper.
But they aren't made out of paper.
Funny how a game where the characters are literally paper thin has more character depth than a children’s show where the characters are meant to be talking animals and 3d modelled
I’ve always seen Super Paper Mario as that they (except Mario, Luigi, Bowser and Peach) aren’t really made of paper... I mean... just look at them! They feel like they are made out of digitalized paper or big PIXELS more than anything. There’s a heavy emphasis on pixels, such as when you land multiple times on enemies the score is pixel-like, and the little fair folk being called... Pixls was it? And Count Bleck’s Castle (Anastasia’s “song”) is chiptune! Also a heavy emphasis on “ending games” but that might be a nitpick. Lastly, the way characters teleport, like a copy + paste.
My head cannon and also TL:DR : Mario and the gang are in a different country, where everyone is made out of pixels instead of paper, and that’s it, thank you for coming to my TED talk

While the informatic aesthetic is a big part of SPM I would argue the only place with people made of bits is Bitlands.

For those who can’t tell, with “It’s Showtime” and “The Ultimate Show” Alex didn’t remake his lyrical adaptations to them. He just redid the videos for them, mainly replacing the gameplay with his own, thus why the video for each of those songs looking different compared to the ones from a year ago. It’s the same audio and art, just the video is put together slightly different than last time.
I'm just glad that the video for The Ultimate Show has more than just Bowser fighting.

How are all the voice actors for this so perfect? Tom actually sounds so broken but scary at the same time as Bleck, and he sounds great with UprisingAttourney. I feel like Candourlight is actually gonna chunk me. Melodica brought back my childhood trauma as Mimi. Sym is amazing at Nastasia, holding every note perfectly while still keeping that secretary voice. Juno is amazingly Italian and goofy as -Luigi- Mr. L. And Alex, well c’mon Dimentio is a crazy clown of course Alex is gonna nail him.

I love how when they say "Now destructions on the rise" in the count black song, Dimentio is the only face behind Count Bleck that smiles, as if he's going to betray the count...
Dimentio technically didn’t betray Bleck. Bleck betrayed him first. Bleck promised a perfect world for everyone and then lied to everyone. If anything, Dimentio was only taking matters into his own hands and getting what he was promised. Soooo… no. Dimentio didn’t betray the Count.
Pfff, as if he would ever do that. He‘s as loyal as the Gumba that joined the "winning team"!
One thing that I noted is also the tone of their voices. Like Dimentio, as always is enjoying it and sings it with a quite happy tone. He's enjoying it and see this as a simple game
O'Chunk seems like he sings it without even understanding what happens, he knows the World will be destroyed, but doesn't seem to understand how important this'll be, but still sings it because he's loyal to Bleck
Mimic and Nastasia seems more worried about what happens, they know what is Bleck's plan, and know that this isn't good, but for they loyalty and the sake if their master, they'll follow him everywhere, that's why they still sing it.

Not only it shows Mr. L's brainwashed personality, but also shows Dimentio's arrogance. He cares so little about Count Bleck that he won't even try to directly say the praise. He had to use someone else to say it for him, and in a way that feels like an afterthought.

After hearing Juno's interpretation of Olly's monologue and Man on the Internet's interpretation of Dimentio's monologue, I realized how sadistic these Paper Mario baddies are. They're planning on wiping out reality as we know it just so they can see a "perfect world". Even Bowser, a pro villain, wouldn't do that kind of work.

I mean, he does that a little in Mario and Luigi: Dream Team.
