Wow jeez what an insanely satisfying rigged run as Tainted Isaac, Polyphemus, Brimstone, Cricket's Head, Ipecac, Infestation 2, Magic Mushroom, Cricket's Body, Almond Milk, Glitched Crown, Inner Eye, Host Hat, Parasite. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth was great, Afterbirth was cool Afterbirth+ was like, eh, it's okay, and then Repentance came and was like BAM this is the best DLC EVER. The best mods like Q4 Isaac dance and banger songs like Innocence Glitched and Machine in the walls (my personal favorite) BIG C Section Brimstone Tech X fetuses' with ghost pepper synergies have so much potential. Add Soy Milk and Rock Bottom for a free win. Those items would be so OP together. The greatest synergy of all time. First floor is Ultra Hard, boss rush can be hard to get to. Good thing mom's knife didn't show up because that wouldn't have been fun. Even though I would of liked that item. I also like, Death Certificate, Damocles, Crickets Head, Rock bottom, Magic Mushroom and Godhead. Psy Fly, Revelation, Twisted Pair, D6 or Spindown Dice would be a cool synergy to have. Edmund Mcmillen created Super Meat Boy and I think he is a angel room enjoyer. Though Devil rooms can be Isaac Pog too, sometimes its a missed rare opportunity 0.1%. Sometimes when I get C section or Glitched Crown I laugh at my free win. Polyphemus Crickets Body Proptosis soy milk Sacred Heart + Holy Light and +10 Luck from perfection is my favorite combo. When I get dead eye incubus R key Red key mega mush spirit sword and brimstone with ipecac it feels like a won run especially with monstros lung and tech X. I love playing the lost and tainted lost, and rerolling is always fun. I also love planetarium items. The Binding of Isaac Repentance is a pretty hard game but I enjoy it, I remember How to unlock the Lost, and it sucks because its RNG. Fighting Hush Delirium Mega Satan The Beast and Mother are all fun. I love synergies and bad items. This is 1,000,000% swear on dead gods name that this description isn't only for keywords. Mattman destorying poops and fires, despite him not being able to get any pick-ups, is truly a Mattman moment.
I have never laughed as hard as when he accidentally finished the game instead of going to the chest, the scream is comedic perfection
I would now like to see a video where matt beats the game with only mums knife and no other items (trinkets and active allowed) to prove his statement that knife is a free win

I know it’s not the same, but one time I beat the beast as tainted Judas and mom’s knife with somehow zero other dps ups.(I am not as good as Mattman)
Anything with permanent stat items would have been nice like going death list, brittle bones, and I think consolation prize if a permanent effect from what I remember from playing tainted isaac. Early on the dollar, pyro, and skeleton key probably the best choices. Also taking bucket of lard instead of the body was an interesting decision.... also transformation farming would have prolly been good. ps: not sure about this but I think maybe flies from halo of flies are permament cause they just count as seperate pretty flie
I wanted to say thing like candied heart and soul locket for infinite stats, but I didn't realize there were no drops
imagine how easy this character would be if you could JUST have pills. think about it, grab PHD, then get any item that gives you pills and go wild for a bit

ITEMS THAT HAVE PERMANENT EFFECTS EVEN IF REMOVED:
- Health Ups (The Body gives 3 heart containers, Raw Liver gives 2 + a full heal)
- Consolation Prize's stats
- Experimental Treatment's stats
- Potato Peeler (damage AND Meat Boys)
- Transformation progress from actives. Useful transformations include Guppy, Beelzebub (makes enemy flies permacharmed), Bookworm, Oh Crap (heals red health EVERY time you destroy a poop), Spun (free damage), Yes Mother, Leviathan/Seraphim (health + flight)...
- Void (can't be utilized effectively. If Death Certificate is triggered through void, you'll have no way of recharging it because batteries disappear.)
- Abyss (CAN be utilized effectively)
- Pyro, Skeleton Key, A Dollar

the best strat tbh would be grab skeleton key first like you did, then dollar so you can actually buy from shops, then pyro, then d8 on early floors for actual stat ups since theyre multipliers, then item of your choice. another epic video mr mattman of the lazy variety
I feel like just a bunch of consolation prizes after skele key, Pyro, and dollar, then once you have enough stats just stick to sacred Heart for the rest of the game

Okay here’s some big brain strats for this character;
1. You can take dollar (and pyro and skeleton key) for 99 cents, making shops actually a thing
2. Shops can give more health ups, making sure you can get to 12 max hp.
3. You can use wafer and sac rooms to get to dark room legit
4. And you can use dads key to get into mega Satan (and mother/ beast?) legit, meaning the only fights you can’t do without debug is blue baby
5. Unironically, yum heart wouldn’t be bad for the healing, while using bombs for combat (assuming you don’t want to moms knife)
6. Just don’t skill issue
you can also theoretically get to dark room or chest by clearing the floors leading up to it with only polaroid / negative
Or just get strawman
I feel like the optimal way to play this character is by getting Mom's Bottle of Pills. Since they don't drop on the floor, I'd assume that you could still use it to get pills and buff up your stats that way?

nah, the optimal way is getting items that give you perma stats by doing something (brittle bones, death list) until you're satisfied then grab revelation

I mean a pretty goated strat would simply be to coast through the game swapping between a powerful bomb modifier (Brimbombs, Bobby Bombs, etc) and Pyro as needed. The rooms without modifiers will kinda suck, but it's honestly a skill issue if you can't get through a floor with 99 bombs. Bombs even pierce Boss Armor, which would allow you to kill armored bosses way easier

I think brittle bones also grants you permanent stats not tied to the item.

I feel like taking Pyromaniac after Pyro would've actually been a good item for both dealing damage and survivability
For a better start: If you save extra death certificates from the floor (treasure room, sac room, etc.), You can use them to get something like a skeleton key or HP ups while still having a death certificate good item for the next floor.
Farming for transformations would probably be the best option for this ngl
If it's repentance logic it doesn't matter cause you loose items and transformations arent permanent

This is a really clever idea for a character but I feel like there should be some way or another to keep some of the items you've gotten- like maybe sacrificing some health or a future item room to keep your one item. Maybe you could get a second item via Birthright?
Peep and Singe also have rocks in the center of their boss room. A few others like Loki and War have them around the sides.

i think a decent strat would be trying to build up your stats on early floors with items like dataminer and experimental treatment? since they give you perma stat and its at random you wont really lose them after taking dc. [skeleton key and pyro would be mandatory, with pyro being for combat in case youd really get low with stats lol] then at womb I or wherever youd find another dc you could just take the item you think would be the best. :]
Meta for this character is probably, skeleton key to get into all extra rooms that could house death certificates and then get up to full HP, finishing off with picking up mom's knife, maybe pick up pyro for the bombs

Bucket of lard infact doesnt give an empty heart container, it gives a +2 HP up but DOESN'T heal you like most other HP ups. Matt had a missing heart, picks up lard, gets +2 HP, no heal, so theres still a heart missing.

do transformations count up even if you lose the items? if so, rushing guppy could help solve damage for the early floors and make things like brimstone carry late harder, if not maybe a route like: (skeleton key (access to an extra d-certificate per floor)-> pyro (damage to use when you have to heal with a certificate and you can also bomb out of risky rooms)->brittle bones/raw liver/the body/book of revelations (if it works the same way as t-isaac, you keep the tears up on the brittle bones path, riskier, but sets up for the late game) [book of revelations path could maybe be taken in dross cause you can't get a horseman there and build up health]->sacred heart/magic mush (heal up)->carry item. grabbing a dollar along with skeleton key could be a decent option too to make shops potentially give 2 extra death certificates on a floor you can use to build up your health before the treasure room
i feel like the overall strategy is to try and rig as many items as you can to build up health quickly and maybe find the perma stat buffs somehow, but i'm just theory crafting

The meta for this character might unironically be taking consolation prize multiple times, since the stat change is permanent, and you could probably force the stat you want with other items

Just became guppy picking up 3 different guppy's head and then go holy poop, you drop it in a room and return again with rock bottom, esiest character ever created.
You can use you first Death Certificate to piche "Dollar" then buy other 2 D.C. in the shop, in the worst case it is 1 but you keep the money so you can choose skeleton key on DC boss room on the next floor so you have the items in the shop and in the tresure room to complete the combo. Cool don't you think?

even in this kinda odd scenario of only 1 item Isaac, there areeee a lot of ways to break the game.
this is attributed to the group of items which, like pyro and skeleton key, leave changes that happened to your character even if you lose the item
the ones that come to mind first are potato peeler and experimental treatment, potato giving you any number of familiars you need while using experimental enough lets you gain damage and tears if you use it enough times(r key also helps lmao)

Beat way to play this character is just mama mega spam. Just use one on each floor and get health ups, keys, or bombs along the way. Gets a bit challenging or different after womb 2 as you can’t get a guaranteed item in sheol or cathedral, but still does the job up until then
brittle bones would be good because you can break all of the bone hearts with the item, permanently have that fire rate up, and then keep it permanently after taking another item (although you would be at low health, you should probably take pjs after or abaddon for the soul hearts
theoretically you could build into transformations through picking up active items
Imagine finding 2 death certificates in close proximity, grabbing red stew then rock bottom. Keep the damage, and if you prepare bombs/keys/hp beforehand should be alright
Isn't the best item to get, that book which gives you wisps that act like items untill destroyed? Just thinking if that would work or if the wisps would disappear because "suffer" xD
For the double eye laser room in the womb, you could have left a bomb for one eye while you focused on dodging.
This character seems like they really benefit from offensive bomb usage.
Will picking up transformation items save the transformation counter in this mod? I've noticed while playing that the transformation counter stays throughout a run, even if I don't keep the items, so I figured it might work here too.
I think the solution to this character is constantly getting potato peeler and raw liver. Peeler gives a 0.2 damage up and a permanent cube of meat. Would be fun to see him played that way

I feel like this character is the one time Dataminer could actually be somewhat worthwhile. As far as I know, its stat changes are permanent. Could also couple it with the D8, going back and forth between the two. I'm not sure if you could actually get it to result in a net positive, I feel like with bad luck you'd just be going back and forth in your stats, but it's at least more interesting than just going for Mom's Knife for the guaranteed win.
