- In this video we are starting a new project, we are building an Off Road Racing Shifter Kart using a CR 125 dirt bike engine. I want this project to be small and fast with full suspension. I first start off with making the front hubs so we can have front brakes. then I start working on making the front A-arms and the beginnings of the frame.

I love your bloopers man, they make you like real and relatable, everybody makes mistakes, everybody gets annoyed at something
just a proof he doesn't script his videos, which I like! it's just the real life, not a "fake perfect life without errors" like most of the big content creators
Reason I keep watching is the real stuff @@lassebrustad
I feel like he doesn't need to go through all those retakes just to get some nitpicky wording right. He could just correct himself and keep going instead of having to start over endless times... Imo it wouldn't make the videos worse. -Me and my coworkers allways have fun whenever someone makes a hillarious wordsalad. Some of them even become catchfrases or permanent expressions. It is just spice on life! :)
-We renamed jigsaws into Rabbitdicks because one guy couldn't remember the name when asking for one and instead said "I need that effin saw that moves like a rabbits d'ck!"
@@JokerInk-CustomBuildsWe have a flatbed tow truck with an off balance wheel that everyone calls Jitterbug.
That's exactly why people enjoy watching your videos. No pre-prepared empty speeches, no unnecessary music, no ridiculous effects. It's completely natural. People and channels like you are very valuable to us in the CZcams garbage filled with fiction
I think your 1 of the only karting youtubers that hasn't built their selves a nice big workshop, yet your 1 of the only youtubers I watch, apart from Grind Hard Plumbing inc, who can & does fabricate all their own parts. Which is amazing to watch, especially from 1 so young. Your fabrication skills have gone from strength to strength where as some of the others I won't mention have got worse or at least not improved.wot so ever. If anyone on CZcams building go karts disserves to treat themselves to an awesome fully loaded workshop, its you. . Luv ya work, thanks for sharing all these years . .
Hes looking for a new place , having a hard time finding what he's looking for . It makes sence .
Red beard is just a salesman. Cars and cameras are the kings of sketchy.
@@KoltFini stoped watching red beard wen he kept doing avertising and geting all his free shit and he sucks .
I'd love to see him get some property first. Then he could work out of a tent for all I care, I just want to see him enjoy his projects a little more. He deserves it.
For some reason it seems like the bigger the shop the more corporate the channel becomes, then it becomes less interesting.
Do your thing Chris, you’re crushing it. We watch you every week.
Agreed! Also, I am speaking from experience, recording unscripted content can be difficult at times.
This guy never stops building vehicles. I admire your passion.
its his job. Its how he makes money.
@@steveww07 Of course, but you can tell this guy would be doing this all day and night unpaid if he didn't starve, lol. Some people just got that itch and nothing can fulfil like getting their hands dirty.
@@kwaaaa yeah cause he doesn't wanna work at the tree service with his dad. If you're an OG you know.
Chain-drive is your deal!!!! Man, I love your projects. You have cornered the market on YT!!!! DON'T QUIT BEING A ROLLER CHAIN LOVER! Sure glad you edit out a lot of the complaining, and such. 😄 Even if you didn't, I'd still be a fan. Been a fan for many years. No plans to stop, when you introduce your next roller chain project. ....Do however wish you would look into some German-made roller chain guides from Wippermann, and other German, and Austrian makers. Stainless steel square stock, with plastic roller chain shaped continuous slides. All enclosed, the werks!
26:51 “NOT NOW MOM!!”😂
And thus, another build begins.... I wish I had a neighbor like this. Maybe not a next door neighbor but at least a few properties away.... 😂
🤣
1K likes and 5,369 Views! Something is so Wrong with this! Come on like the guy! 👍🏻👍🏻
Maybe this would be a good project to try push-rod suspension? Get the shocks up and out of the way to make room for steering and that pipe.
Love the bloopers never get rid of them, you should include some in every video...
out takes were hilarious! This looks like a bad ass "CHAIN DRIVE" project! Can't wait to see it rip!
This is your channel! Build them how you want. I will always watch your videos regardless.
You've gotta be one of the best fabricators of this kind of stuff here on CZcams
Great start and can't wait to see it ripping
Love the channel, you're like the mad scientist of CZcams 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
10:30 The tire falling in sync with the music was a nice touch.
Chris , I love the way you fabricate. You're very fluid and visionary. Your projects are a reflection of your skills. Very few can do what you have done with the limited resources available. This project will be a good one.
Never expected you to put the engine in front.. I like how you don’t just take the easy way out and do different stuff. Love the channel
you mean over-somplicate stuff. Yeah he does that well!!!
Probably the hardest working dude on CZcams.
It doesn't matter to me how your projects are driven, I enjoy watching you build awesome projects. You do great. And the outtakes are hilarious 🤣🤣. You're doing great 👍
Looks like the intro is the hardest part of this project. It should all be downhill from here. Looking forward to the progress of this "chain drive" machine!
You basically built a" I " beam/ " A " arm combo! Move the shocks further out on the " A " arms, then the shocks towers need a cross bar over the engine! Moving the engine forward to allow steering.
Came here to make this comment. Positioning the shocks more vertically will allow space for the expansion chamber, moving the engine forward 👍
Let them say what they like, this is your work. I am watching your channel not their channel, just build your way, I will watch you build a toaster oven.
100% right . Everyone is an expert sat at home behind a computer .
Definitely..do you chris 😊 👍
Amen !!!
This thing is going to rip! The smaller builds with bike engines are my favorite
the ppl complaining about chain driven stuff. Must never touch grass LIKE EVER. 4wheelers you might wanna go look at them lmao
What’s the alternative - I’m not very knowledgeable?
I should build a chain drive CB-750 t-bucket.
Even the early 90s 4x4 fourwheelers were chaindrive. Race quads are still chaindrive. It's only been the last handful of years that quads have gone to belt drive with internal gear reduction gearboxes for hi, low, reverse and 2wd to 4x4 to 4Lo. Getting some of those boxes and differentials is expensive especially for stuff that is not clapped out.
Yeah chaindrive does have its shortfalls and what not, but it works and is cheaper to do than to get the other stuff to keep it all internal. Plus Polaris wants crack money for their CV axles.
@@gideonvanniekerk4252 driveshafts
In 1996 polaris made a chain system in their xplorer 400 to be chian driven 4x4 with chain driven cv axles for the front end its actually a really cool design
You took it off of the mini street quad
Correct
@@ratherBweldingChrishey bud. I've been wanting to tell you to check out the front suspension on the 24 can-am maverick r. It could solve a lot of the limited space while trying to get castor/camber without bump steer issues. I'd love to see your take on the geometry in a build. If you used something like the can-am suspension on this it could free up some space to mount the brakes so they're not taking up precious real estate.
Small projects are such a breeze, back to the roots. Your skills and planing have improved so much since the grave ninja.
Your intro was worth the admission price to loan. The stop motion editing is my favorite touch. Great content.
In you out takes, you can see how much effort you put into your videos above and beyond the actual building and time investment into projects
your videos are the best on youtube. I get exited every sunday
Same!
Outtakes we’re AWESOME!
I’ve been watching you for 5 years now. It’s crazy how much better your builds have become. Thanks for the videos!
Im stoked youre making this. I was just talking to my roommate (we fantasize about building shifter carts) he wants a 1000cc, but i want a 2 stroke, lightweight, full suspension shifter cart. Think its sick youre doing the motor in the front too. Exactly what Id want to do. Still my favorite youtube channel by far!
Chris, I know the comments can be hard to ignore at times, but don't feel the need to justify yourself to anyone who has an issue. Build a whole damn rig out of chains, who cares. You do you!
I can’t wait to see how the front geometry works, my brain is hurting trying to figure out how this is going to handle. Keep doing your thing!
Gotts love all these projects. I have an will always watch your content. Can wait to see how this turns out
This is gonna be sick.
Love the bloopers
😮OMG another project....😮
Omg I laughed so much at the outtakes at the end of the video! I can relate so much. When I edit my videos on my channel, my wife insists on watching all my outtakes. she can’t believe how many attempts I have at saying things… I always just go for it and work it out as I go…. Never have a script. I love your channel buddy! Amazing skills with the suspension design. It’s exactly what I want to do to the ford ranger I built.
You know its going to be a great build when he starts with the bricks👌
Another great video Chris, I think the two seat 4x4 is a masterpiece of engineering personally.
I think that chain drive is actually better because it has less drag than a drive shaft, it weighs less and allows you to build some nice suspensions in less space on a small vehicle. Don't mind what people say, just keep doing your stuff and having fun, at the end of the day they are watching you for this. 😉
Unless you want articulation
When you are looking at that style of drills. you want to look for drills that have vents. where the air is drawn in right near the battery. and exits out towards the front of the drill. and that way it helps keep the battery cooler. and you don't cover up the vents with your hands. and more and more drill manufactures are building them this way. at the end of the video you showed everyone just how difficult it is to get all the production and editing right for these videos. especially when you're the only one handling all the aspects of making these videos. and that includes camera positioning, lighting, sound quality, not to mention directing yourself. and post production electronic production and editing. I have mentioned it before about your music. I have to say it's the best music to put alongside these types of videos. I have heard on YT it's not too loud. but yet loud enough. and the tunes are progressive enough but not weird. and when it comes to outtakes? it seems like yours are pretty equal to other videos on YT. of course that varies from video to video. so over all I would say that along with your machinist skills and your fabrication skills that are very impressive. you're also a really good videographer.
your builds are genius... keep doing what you do!!
Dude you're good, your projects never cease to amaze me.
FINALLY another chain drive project! 🤣🤣
This gotta be one of my top favorite videos of yours though and also just seeing you mow trough projects is just WOW! 💥💥 Good job! ❤🔥
Man I really look forward to Sundays for your videos! Keep it up
Now you're speaking my language! Two stroke! This thing is gonna rip!
This will be a interesting build can’t wait to see what you end up with
Id love to see this kid with a real fab table. The bricks crack me up
You do however you want I like averaging you do I start looking your CZcams channel from the beginning of your career and I always like it your builds
Haha that’s exactly how I’d be lol. And different strokes for different folks. If people don’t like it they can build their own. Looking forward to this build.
Lol, love the outtakes! I kept waiting for you to say that you could’ve had it built by now
Love the bloopers 👍 cracks me up every time
That engine came out of the small project death trap
A front engine design. Interesting. All I've seen by other builders, are sidewinders and 4 bangers across the back of the seat. (As far as Hi Perf. builds) We know you will make it work. Is 4 wheel too much? Ya, a lot more parts. Also too short and not necessary. Oh well, we can dream, right? 🤔🤗😆😉
Enjoying the background music
Looking forward to this new build Chris.
I’m looking forward to seeing the finished project! Very cool! ❤
I think on alot of other people's channels they talk to much and alot of it is nonsense. So don't beat yourself up. I watch cause your a very talented welder/fabricator.
Its been so cool watching you build this baja... ive literally gone online since watching yours and I'm now doing a deal with a real one, Totally inspired by your build. Awesome to follow your projects. Keep up the good work bud. Have a great day.
🤟🥳🇦🇺 Ad from OZ...
Probably too late to suggest stuff, but the BEST thing you can do if you want side-to-side articulation without chain jumping would be to build a de-dion axle rear suspension and use an ATV rear sprocket and brake hub, but building your own carrier for that on the chassis. You WILL need CV's for de-dion to work properly, but this is the best 1 sprocket, 1 brake solution unless you want to have an actual differential action, at which point IDK what to tell you.
I like the blooper reels at the end 😂
This is a sweet build! Lots of pro-modified race cars have the engine and the driveline behind the center of the front axle for weight distribution. I would try to get the engine behind the center line as much as possible without being uncomfortable. After watching further i see the engine is back more. This is becoming a high interest to me! Maybe try rotating the expansion chamber 180° and see if itll work better that way.
I like the tires on the wide rims!
i made front hubs out of two of those lawn mower deck spindles then little stand offs for bicycle rotors and brakes. i lucked out, the 4 holes on the deck spindles were the same pattern as the wheels, you have to build them backwards looking on account of you need the material to attach the tie rod and link, which, by the way i was able to bolt on. was the least of my problems
Awesome! I'm currently brainstorming a front engine build for my Rocketa buggy using drivetrain from a krf 750. (Both street legal and insured already 😉) should start in January 👍🏻
With drills the brushed motors get hot. Also drills can have a side handle for your hand that way you don’t cover the hot exhaust with your hand. But I get it.. I’ve done the same thing in a pinch because I didn’t want to walk back to the garage to get the side handle.
Bloopers. I feel your pain or enjoyment. For me it is the fear of hearing myself speak after being recorded.
As for the people whining about chain driven projects, screw em it is your channel and you do what you like. They can watch or don’t watch it is that simple. Similar to someone complaining about another LS swap. Get over it! Let the man do what likes to do.
So far any weak points are not too bad and you have walked away from them. You build safe stuff and all these are one offs anyway. No worries. I'll be here for it regardless.
She’s gna be loud , she’s gna be awesome 😎 👌🏻🤘🏼🤘🏼
front mid engine and suspension on a shifter kart is such a good setup
Well said gig! And he does it almost all himself. I mean we all get involved answering his questions every week ... Sometimes I'm not sure he listens. Maybe if we weren't yelling at our monitors. Ha ha.
Chain ⛓️ drive, because it works.
Outtakes reel was great. The same thing happens to me, turn on the camera and bam, instantly, I can not pronounce simple words. Start trying to talk way too fast, like I'm gonna run outta time or something. I can't remember the name of the part I'm holding in my hand🥵 😂🤣 it's great.
Looks like another great build. Keep doing what you're doing.
This is my dream build right here. Let's go!
Just wanted to say I appreciated it when you commented on drill. Nice to what tools are going to hold up or do what they say they will.
Hercules drills are awesome. I went from DeWalt to Milwaukee to the Hercules brushless and I absolutely love them but I've never tried the Bauer.
That would be a great rear engine build. Sit a bit forward and the radiator could be behind the seat off to the side. All the dangerous stuff could be behind you ...just a thought
all shifter karts are like that...hes trying to be different
I just want to thank you for all you amazing build, and for sharing them with us. I love that you are not afraid of going big. i was a big "watcher" of some of them other guys. But it just got so boring watching them using the same engine(or same version) just about all the time. And to be honest, those brigs and Stratton(clones) engines are so slow and powerless compared to just about anything else. So keep up the great work. ANd long live the 2 stroke.
Damn, those gears near the groin area is scary!
Loved the end of this video. Keep up your way, it's awesome to watch, however it comes out.
If you get a solid rear axle from an ATV. You could turn the 2 stroke 90 degrees.
Replace the chains and jack shaft with a driveshaft.
Awesome stuff I watch every Sunday
I know you didn't invent the concept, but you've certainly proven that the "Mid-shaft, independent chain drive system" is practical and reliable for small to midsized off-road vehicles and utvs. I would drive the s**t out of that CBR 1000 build and so would everyone watching this channel. You should be proud of your accomplishments and Eff negative comments on whatever you build bro. Im here regardless of what you come up with. Even if i do like to make suggestions 🙄
@14:20 Just so you know, you definitely want the shroud on your band saw motor's cooling fan. I suppose if you are not running it continuously it will be OK. Keep an eye on the temp if you have to do a lot of cutting. 😁🤩
Not gonna lie, Im skeptical that a large heavy vehicle can have good longevity with a chain drive, but I can’t complain because I’ve never proven it out myself. But you are. So I’ll just watch and see what you find out. This kart should be fine with chain drive. Lots of atv’s and karts this size and bigger do well with chain. But for some reason most chain runs tend to be engineered as short as possible. I’m guessing there’s a reason long runs of chain are undesirable. So if you’re running one all the way from front to back you might still have an opportunity to find out. Hopefully not though. Hopefully it’ll just work. I like the premise of this build. Seems fun and practical if you keep it simple and fast. I’ll watch either way.
I like my Bauer drill. I dropped it off a 20 ft scissor lift and it still works. I went ahead and got the matching impact wrench and saw.
Totally Loved the Rant!
Your some kind of mad genius... Don't know what else to say lol
Start with a pile of parts and know it's going to work and be bad ass ,what a skill
Dont spill your energy on negative people.. just do you and that’s good! Greets
Should have did the shocks in the front & rear horizontal, that way you wouldn’t have to go up so high with the frame & it looks cool & different. You don’t need crazy suspension, you just want enough for when you’re ripping tracks like cars & cameras track on grass & terrain like that.
The Yard Dart from Cars & Cameras was a remarkable off-road kart.
It will be a project that balances handling and traction to a high degree.
Chris' project may inspire Cars & Cameras to upgrade the Yard Dart.
You'll need to be careful when driving at high speeds, as it can be quite scary!
Dudes got skills one man show come in guys keep it positive 😊
Chris For President!! 😃🥰
Thanks!
I get alittle choked up when i see the old fire bricks. the street quad will live on in legend.😥
Dude I love your work and how meticulous you are throughout your builds, keep on killing it bro 2 smoke is the way to go....BRRRAAAAAAP BRAAAP!!!!
coolest parts the end, you be you man
Chain drivin is the lightest way possible, actually the only way in my opinion!! I could understand a shaft drive street bike engine, but for what application? Mud boat with a virago 5speed twin engine, now that might be cool because who cares if you sink in it,lol.
