- This delicious one pot fish stew (or fish soup) is so easy to make & tastes delicious, it's based on a recipe we used to teach at Jamie's Ministry Of Food. You can use most fish & shell fish for this recipe but steer clear of strong oily fish such as mackerel in this dish.
Inspired by a traditional Greek dish Kakavia..
The stew will also freeze, so any left overs get them in containers & freeze for up to a month. Chapters & Ingredients below.

This dish is a jubilation of culinary finesse. Happiness on a plate!
This is a Greek fish stew, an amazing dish Greek families have once a week, called psarosoupa (fish soup). Kakavia is the boat version of this soup made with seawater and whatever fish is fished and vegetables that can be preserved on the boat for some time.
Hi there, it's the boat version we used to teach. This is just a version of it. Thanks for the info though, its great to share ideas, tips & origins. Much appreciated.
Thank you for a simple dish!
Did you enjoy it?
Very well cooked Chef as I a Greek ❤👍🇬🇷
Thank you for your lovely comment. Please feel free to share with your friends 🙏🏻
Brilliant
The point of this plate was that it could be cooked with the minimum ingredients inside the boat during fishing. Thats why mostly was made of sea water, fish, olive oil, onions, potatoes and lemons(often instead of lemons the used a very sour powder-citric acid- that tastes similar to lemon). Ingridients that can be perserved for long period on a fishing boat. All the rest are extras that people use to put at home cooking to spice up the recipe.
Hey, thanks for the extra info.. it’s a great dish..
Thanks Gianni for providing that tip !!!
Only a true Greek would have known that 🇬🇷😄

That background music is so loud in spots, it's kind of annoying and is really quite unnecessary. With that said, I tried this recipe and it is delicious! Thank you!
Thank you for the feedback it helps me to improve the channel. I’ve started removing music from my newer videos. Glad you enjoyed the recipe. Please keep sharing..
Who told you what this kind of stew the Greeks call it kakaia?
My Greek family.. its Kakavia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kakavia_(soup)
Did you pick up the celery from the trash section of the supermarket? 😂
No I used perfectly good to use celery as I don’t believe in food waste! Yes it’s a bit limp but that lends to its beauty in the dish. Thx though for your concern 😉
Wow didnt realise the ancient greeks had access to tomatoes and potatoes!!
