- We visit RICHMOND NORTH YORKSHIRE at Christmas time to have a look around.
Richmond is a charming market town located in the region of Teesdale in North Yorkshire, England. The town has a rich history and cultural heritage, and is home to a number of significant historical buildings and landmarks.
One of the most prominent landmarks in Richmond is Richmond Castle, a 11th century castle that was built by the Normans. The castle is a popular tourist attraction and is known for its impressive architecture and stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Another important historical site in Richmond is the Georgian Theatre Royal, a beautifully preserved 18th century playhouse that is still in use today. American here …. again. I watch all your walks because I do believe the stork delivered me to the wrong country! I have loved England since I’ve known there WAS an England. So nice to be able to see it as though I’m actually there. Thank you for braving the cold so that we can see all this from the warmth of our homes. Brilliant - great to see it in winter...but I'd have been on the floor so many times!
My wife & I stayed in Richmand for the first and only time for a week in August 2022 and were really impressed with the place and surrounding places to visit also. We did all the town centre attractions in cluding the castle & thearte with a discount ticket that gets you in 4 places. We really enjoyed it and I'm sure we'll be back at some point. Great video. 👍

It looks nice and cold and it is nice to see some of the shops bout and the sun is out to melt the snow and ice and the market and your passage way and a hot chocolate afterwards

1 thing I'm really surprised at is the council have not de-iced the pavements... the lovely people of Richmond must pay a lot of Council tax - is there no money for a bit of salt & Grit.. obviously not 😂 - well done for not slipping over..👏

Thanks for sharing this. Last time I visited Richmond it was on a warm summer day and we went in the Theatre for a show there. It’s really old with wooden benches and not chairs. They have amenities for disabled in there, a lift upstairs etc. it’s a nice little market town

Hello Gimbal Walk Tv. After Christmas, I reccomend you visit Bury St Edmunds. Bury St Edmunds is a beautiful Market town known as the Crown Jewel in the County of Suffolk. Bury St Edmunds has a really good mix of history and bustling streets filled with all sorts of shops you don’t see everywhere along with some High Street names. Abbey Gardens is an absolutely beautiful Garden with history, The Arc Shopping Centre is an ultra modern shopping centre with a market on some days and then there’s the rest of the streets with the more unique shops. Btw this was a good video 👍.
I am surprised how much snow Richmond had . . . I am not too far north of there and we hardly had any, just a very thin layer, which cleared up fairly quickly. The Bishop Blaize has (or at least used to b4 Covid...) a folk club with great music and singing, on a Friday evening. I really must go back there - the market square is very large, but cars made it look smaller. Some lovely independent shops, which is SO nice to see. Hope you didn't bump into Wishy Sunak 🤣🤣🤣

I lived for a year here in 1975 ..it's only 3 miles,I recall ,from catterick garrison...I joined the local dramatic society and performed in 'east lynne' at the Georgean theatre and at leyburn ..I can't imagine there's a more desirable place to live in Britain because of location and access to North yorks etc ..you didn't go up frenchgate where I stayed...

planning a trip here. Did you come across the Castle Tavern at all? was thinking of staying there But unfortunately the beautiful large open fire the missus wanted to see, burnt down in Oct and is boarded up now :(
