Grew up watching you, rex hunt and bushy as a kid. Nowadays I watch Robbie and a few other Australian fishos on CZcams, so it was real exciting to me to see you guys get together. Kind of a combination of worlds for me!
Thanks Blake! That’s made my day!
I watch me fishing
Awesome work Starlo. 👌 It came up a treat. Loved it.
Thanks mate! Watching yours now! 👍
Nice cod that you got at lake buffalo while fishing with robbie
Thanks!
Great work guys, big fan👍🇦🇺
Thanks! 👍
Great video starlo and top fella to fish with well done Robbie
Thanks! Yes, Robbie is a ripper bloke!
Excellent video as always starlo. Now off to watch robbies version of events.
Thanks! Robbie's was great, as always! Lots of info.
Great video 2 wonderful Murray Cod love those decent size Redfin took me back years 1968 we used catch heaps of Redfin that size at Echuca Wharf when I was 18. Great stuff
Thanks Peter!
Just watched Robbie’s video now to see your side of things. 2 nice cod for the day, can’t be too unhappy about that. Keep up the great work guys.
Cheers!
We used to catch redfin by the bucket on the Murray at Barooga where I grew up, some 50 odd years ago. Sometimes you would get a double hook up, as they would attack the bait that hard the bait and hook would pass through the gills and a second one would take it. They eventually disappeared from that section of the Murray, not sure whether it was the influence of the European carp, but it was around the time they appeared.
Yes, my first fish was a redfin out of the Lachlan over 60 years ago. A virus and possibly competition with carp dramatically reduced their numbers in many systems. Both carp and redfin are bad for our inland waterways and we’d be better off without either, but at least redfin are good to eat!
That was great, those cod are a beautiful looking fish. I recently found Robbies channel, really like his style, fun videos and yes, he is good too.
Thanks! Yep, @robbiefishing is the real deal. Great bloke.
Awesome video I love Robbie fishing.
Me too!
Great video Starlo, nice to see you & Robbie caught a cod each. I really miss the good old days of watching you & bushy on Rex Hunt fishing Adventures. Btw, I have only targeted trout when I go freshwater fishing & thankfully have never come across any Redfin! Tight lines champ!
Thanks mate! 👍
Couple of legends there, good stuff gents.
Thanks!
Can't wait for more of these style of videos starlo awesome work mate.
Thanks!
Awesome fishing Sterlo. Hopefully one day ill get a chance to wet a line with you. Good to see you still going strong. Im 27 now and started watching you and rex when I was about 4 or 5. Safe to say your Squidgies caught most of my prize fish still to this day. The Iconic Squidgie Wriggler is the only plastic to land me a 1m+ Flatty. Awesome Fishing Sterlo!
Thanks mate! Yep, I'm still having a go! ;)
Another cracking video Steve. Robbie certainly knows his local waterways when it comes to finding fish. Hope to see you both collaborate a bit more over the years to come.
Thanks! I reckon you will see that, for sure!
Great video Starlo! As a long time follower of Robbie, it was great to see you both fishing together!
Thanks! I was stoked to finally catch up with him. We'll do it again, for sure.
I'd love to see more videos just like this style of you chasing various species Steve, it was so interesting to watch how and hear how you fished through the session. Thanks!
Thanks Alex! More like this are definitely on the way.
Came over from Robbie's channel. Lake Buffalo is a great place. Great stuff Starlo. 👍
Thanks! Yes, it's a top spot. I'll be back.
Cracking Video, So good that you picked up a Lake Buffalo Cod.
I know! I was stoked!
Great watch Starlo, you are right looks like Lake Buffalo is going to become a awesome little fishery. Glad you got a nice feed from your trip and depleted the population of redfin by a few. 💜🎣
Thanks for that. Yes, I reckon it’ll just get better and better.
Great stuff mate , I can remember you as a young bloke fishing with Harro great to see the passion still going strong !!!
Thanks mate!
Great video good see to see ya out with Robbie.
Thanks Jock!
I just realised you're doing CZcams Steve, this makes me so happy! And your production quality is great, not overly done but exactly what I wished I could make!
Thanks SO much for that great feedback!
Top video Starlo 🐠👍
Thanks 👍
Lures turned up looks good
Thanks!
@@StarloGetsReel no problem
Very nice!
Thanks!
Must say Sterlo ..you and Robbie's beards are looking good for a couple old mates.. I can almost see the remants of the mornings bacon and egg roll and Cafe latte..lingering in the wisps..ha ha.. excellent video.. very entertaining..ha ha
Yes, rather similar facial hair on both Buffalo Soldiers! He definitely has more on top than me, though! ;)
Well done Starlo!!! It’s becoming a very special Fishery in North East Victoria. They are very tough to catch in there. I’ve caught a couple in there up too 65cm.
Nice! I think it will only go from strength to strength as it continues to be stocked and the cod should start to thin the reddies out a bit, too!
Lovely mate, looks like a nice fishery!
Thanks Peachy. I think it will only continue to improve. Could develop into a reasonable fly fishery for cod and redfin too, I reckon. Good water clarity.
Buitfull place I am going up there for long weekend just bought a kayak carnt wait great video
Good luck, Striker!
Excellent video, stunning scenery. Not a bad place to be in the office 😁Nice feed of reddies and bonza Murray Cod at the death. Nice 😀 Robbie's cod was a thumper of a fish, just so fat. No doubt you will return to that lake again 👌 Cheers.
Thanks Trevor! Yes, I'll be back for sure. Loved the place!
great video
Thanks!
You put together an excellent well presented video mate.
I hope in my lifetime we will be able to catch cod like that over here in the west as we have many places with such potential.
Thank you
Thank you! Yes, it's interesting that there was once a localised but quite vibrant little fishery down south for (introduced) cod in WA but they appear to have died out over time. I can't see the authorities ever sanctioning the official relocation of cod over that way. At one level I can understand the reasons, but as you already have redfin, trout and at least koi carp or goldfish, it does seem a tad hypocritical... Your best bet might be to push for some golden perch (yellowbelly) in a few of the dams. I really can't see them having dire impacts on marron, nightfish or any other endemic species... That said, I wouldn't hold my breath! Lucky you saltwater fishing is so good, I guess! Tight Lines.
@@StarloGetsReel I’d love to investigate this further, any indication as to where to start my search mate?
PM on my FB page if need be.
Thank you
@@Inlay76667 I'd be getting onto Recfishwest to explore it further: facebook.com/recfishwest
And now we understand why the westin Percy the perch and the jackall gigantarel are so effective on cod where refin are in abundance
For sure. They love snacking on reddies!
Starlo picking up a daiwa reel? Seen it all now!
Yes, not something you’re likely to see again. Should’ve seen my face when Robbie handed me the loaner outfit! 🙄 At least it was on a Shimano rod. 😉 I was much happier when I picked up my trusty Shimano baitcaster again at the end of the session and hooked that cod. 🤣
Robbie making Starlo use the Daiwa gear...
Shhhhhhhh! ;) Must say, first time I've used a "D" reel in a long, long time. Went okay, too (although I’d have much preferred one of my Shimanos!) Thank goodness at least the rod was a Shimano! :)
Hey starlo how did you go with the lures mate
Yep. They’re on their way. Should get there next week. 👍
@@StarloGetsReel awesome cheers mate I appreciate it o really do I hope you enjoy the rest of your day
