    Amazing interview ❤ thank you! I was on the list for gastric bypass surgery- I’ve taken myself off the list and started Carnavour today❤ FYI to the Karen’s-I asked for the weight loss surgery for weight loss. LDL being up is fine, check:
      1) TG / HDL ratio => if it's under 1.5 it's great, the lower the better

    Hi Justin . Really appreciate your channel & your interview style & your newsletter.
    I am 78 yrs, male. Today 03 Aug 2024, total 3 months animal based.
    After 2 months carnivore, had lost 40 lbs belly fat, off blood pressure meds but not feeling vas good as before so added back red, black, & blue berries, Greek yogurt, small servings of day old rice, beans, still eating Avocado & sauerkraut with eggs, black coffee & hamburger meat. Now over 3 months on animal based diet. When started carnivore I quit sweets, sugar & whiskey. Had quit smoking 30 years ago. Had eliminated seed oils & ultra-processed foods several months before. Feeling great these days.
    Started carnivore after bladder tumor that resulted cancerous, was removed then reappeared, scraped again. Intra bladder targeted immunotherapy scheduled to begin in a few weeks.
    Planning to start fasting, 1 day then 2 then maybe 3 day fast before chemo in effort to aid in reducing cancer. Hopefully, my wife eats more or less keto but doesn't like fasting idea. Need convincing info in Spanish. She thinks I'm getting too skinny.
    My only regret is not discovering carnivore 30 years ago.
    Guess I wasn’t ready then.

      @SuperiorityQomplex Před rokem +5

      @@madwez Ya, I'm never not going to eat meat. But micronutrients are also important to us. Fact is, we're omnivores. There are advantages to eating both. Frankly, I think we used to eat meats in the winters when that's all we had, and then fruits and veggies in the summer and fall which triggered insulin to make us fat enough to go survive the winters. I think it's all cyclical. Just in modern times, we have the carbs year round instead of just seasonal and it's taken away our time to go full on ketogenic in the winters.
      Either way, find what works best for you. People tend to get too religious about this stuff. As long as we're not doing the Standard American Diet, probably going to be ok.

We have tested eating off a couple times & we did eat Carnivore for 4-5 mos a year before this journey... the word regret doesn't describe it. We have ZERO plans to ever go back to the SAD diet. It really bothers me that so many people feel they have failed by enjoying a cup of coffee or an occasional apple! If you're eating a meat-based diet in the 90% or more range, you're eating healthy. Eating should be a pleasure not a chore. I ignore carnivore channels that debate about or argue against small deviations. If you pay attention to your own body, then you can tell what's not good for you. And if you follow Jack Kruse, then you know that getting morning sunlight on your retina and skin is just as important as what you eat, perhaps even more important.

      @Dakiniwoman Před rokem +3

      @@TerriblePerfection Thanks for your message, for myself, personally, my goal for eating Carnivore was to get as healthy as I could be, and I had many health benefits, but no weight loss and that is a huge part of being in good health. I need to lose over 30 % of my body weight... so that is why I feel I failed. Those little slip-ups now and then, may be why I don't lose?... I know it's my thyroid and insulin resistance that is a problem, so I only lose if I do a water fast, and even then, it is very slow.

      @@Dakiniwoman I have Hashimoto's myself, but I'm thin and don't pay attention to weight. As I suggested in my last reply, how much natural sunlight you get, and limiting blue light after sunset, are critical for your health, as they affect the production of hormones. Please see Jack Kruse for more information. He himself was obese before losing some 75 (?) pounds WITHOUT changing his diet! He changed his relationship to light, which affects our mitochondria and how we fuel our body. Basically, we turn to food when natural light is scarce.
      It's a quantum approach to health that's very new and exciting. Perhaps you could benefit from watching his interviews. He's not everyone's cup of tea, but I think he's brilliant personally. I wish you the best!

    Thank you to the interviewer for allowing him to completely tell his story without interruption. Very respectful and engaging. ❤
    I just came across Shawn’s story this morning. Watched a couple videos of his before this one and became an immediate sub.
    I do believe I had seen him pop up before but I had never listened to his story.
    God’s timing is perfect. And the fact that he shares his faith within his health journey speaks to me in so many ways.
    I struggle with certain things within my walk with the Lord, and the Lord is ministering to me about my personal journey with Him, even through the way Shawn shares his journey with his health and weight loss. It is ministering to health and spirit to me like a two edged sword. If that makes sense. It’s truly amazing. Glory to God! I’m so grateful for Shawn’s testimony. ❤❤❤
    I believe now is the time for me personally. I have failed over and over again and returned time and time again to poor eating habits: binges on sweets and junk food…definitely emotional binges. Suppressing whatever emotional issues there are, that I honestly don’t understand. Isolation etc.
    I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired. Mindset and consistency MUST BEGIN NOW for me.
    So thank you for sharing your story. Please keep sharing no matter how tired you get of saying it, because you may reach … one more. (He leaves the 99 and goes after the ONE 😉 🙌🏻). ❤🎉❤

      Yea this was something I was interested to know about myself! I’ll keep you posted when my wife and I try it-if we can find a decent way to make it a bit more cost effective 🙈. From the research I’ve been doing, ground beef and other meat sources may be a suitable substitute for steaks.

    • @kelperdude
      @kelperdude Před rokem +1

      @@JustinDorff - I tried ground beef. For right or wrong, what I did is add maybe a 1/2 cup of broth to it, as well as garlic and onion powder and made a soup out of it. That was pretty enjoyable to be honest. I tried just a few days as a test run to see how things would go. It wasn't bad, but one pound of GB held me over for only about 6 hours.
      After stopping the test, I find out that the preferred ratio is 1:1 protein/fat. The GB I had was 73% lean, which means I'd need almost twice as much fat, preferably. I would guess the only way to get that ratio would be to go to a butcher which is something I will research if I do decide to try the diet again.
      Yesterday, I rendered the fat from 3.20 lbs of 73% GB. I got really close to 2 filled campbell soup cans at 10.5 oz each for a total of around 20 oz. Therefore, if I were to get an even 3 lbs of 50% GB it would render around 3 1/2 cans of campbells soup, or around 35 oz, which is over 1 quart! How the heck is someone supposed to consume that? Can I heat it up and just drink it?
      I am also very close to your body type. I would only want to lose about 20 lbs and just keep maintaining after that.
      Extrapolate what you will from I said. Maybe it will give you ideas or something for your own research.

Also calculate in all the meds, supplements and health costs that are no longer needed. Ultimately though, if you can have excellent health, feel great, live the highest quality of life by choosing to spend a few pennies more at the grocery store - wouldn't that be worth the expense? Suffering with chronic illnesses is the most expensive way to live.

      Hey Jayme I totally get this! I haven’t gone full carnivore just yet…for what it’s worth I am testing something out where I ease into it by taking a more gradual approach. I don’t think this is necessary, but I just wanted to see how it went if I did it. So, for example, you might start by reducing the processed foods you eat-when that becomes easy, you could move to a more keto form of eating-then move toward carnivore if that still doesn’t get you the results you’d like. Let me know if that makes sense! Some people may disagree and say to just go all in right from the start, but whatever gets you to where you want to be and produces lasting success is the best route imo 😄
