Thanks for the video. Northern Ohio was super wet this spring. Corn just tasseling too on the lake Erie shore. Normally start chopping labor day. Not this year. Never met a dairyman that didn't LOVE chopping corn silage. Most favorite time of the year!! Size of equipment doesn't matter. But super fun to watch this big stuff! Can't wait to watch the sorghum chopped

Thanks, BTP. I haven't watched your Forage videos because I didn't know a thing about this type of harvest. Cattle farming is/was virtually nil here in the Bootheel. I knew one cattle farmer when I grew up here. But I'm enjoying watching now that I'm taking time to sit & watch it.

john deere forage harvester with dump wagon hasn't changed since early 70's…I was 18 in '72' used the same set up to cut our 800 acres.... had a new IH 1456 [??] on it JD 4630 was weak on pto power…sun up sharpen knives cut till late at night….you had to stay 120% alert washouts, dump wagon filled correctly, stay in the lane…thanks for the video..

I like finding the high horse power 2wds. I hope to find a 2wd 8110, 8220 and 8225R. CIH made a 2wd MX180, 200 and 220. There are also rare 2wd MX240 and MX270 models.

bigtractorpower check out FarmerMD on CZcams he has two CI's in the 8100 range...not exactly sure, but the one is a 2WD model!!! He has really good videos too!!!
It's great to be able to chop corn already at the end of July, here in Germany it's usually done at the end of September.
Germany has some impressive farming. Corn is planted here in March. Chopping will run for about two weeks and then the combines will start picking. By the end of September here the fields will all be plowed up and ready for wheat to be drilled over the old corn ground.

I guess the heat was so bad that the side panels on the chopper had to be opened up.

you should hit North Dakota in the fall for harvest to.miss my home state in fall
I hope to get out to North Dakota at some point. I am booked up this fall but maybe another year.
I wanted to see more at the silo and how that self feeding blower worked. I never saw one like that.

Imagine trying to keep up with a 20 row header like Kemper is developing. You'd need so many trucks/tractors just to keep up with the header

They make blades for them big Johns, work that poor little one like that, and the guy in the the big one has it right to the pin just packing!!!!!!!! just say'en!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There were other tractors on the pile. I just included the footage of the 6715 in this video because it stands out. If you look over to the right of the 9360R you can see another tractor on a blade.
Too early for corn chopping, by about 2 months up here! Corn is just tasseling out.
Where are you based? Corn is planted here in Western Kentucky in March. Combines will be in corn in just a few weeks.

Yea ny is little later I am from eastern ny and we were having a bad dry spell so that slowed down the growth for us but now it won’t stop raining here we are just starting our 3 cutting for haylage tomorrow.

It is my understanding that Harvestores require drier corn silage than bunker silos, but the silage for the Harvestore looks about the same moisture as the other silage. Do the owners have a different brand of unloader that allows them to handle the wetter corn silage? Thanks.
I am not sure. I plan to a full video on the Balzer Silage Deck. I will see what I can find out.

their corn crop would grow a whilst lot taller and thicker if they plowed the ground first instead of direct seeding it.
They plow the field. They rip it 18 inches deep just hours behind the choppers.
Can you do a video on the 9600 john deere chopper
Yes in April 2019 when this farm starts cutting alfalfa. They two 9600’s on order.
Will the chop or combine double crop sorghum?
They will chop it just before Thanksgiving. I will have a video explaining the double crop.

It is corn chopping time. Corn combines will be rolling in just a few weeks.
Not sure I would last very long on one of those forage harvesters. I'd probably be dumping material on the ground a lot.
There is allot of coordination in running these and filling trucks and wagons.
It takes time but once ya get use to it not hard to run. If ya don't have truck drivers with there heads in there asses it helps.

When you have done the headlands the machine pretty much drives itself with GPS and guidance steering so that you can focus on the auger and unloading if you have a relatively new Maschine that is...
What is the difference between using this process verses going through it with a combine and a corn picker header on it?
Machi74005 combine only gets grain chopper gets everything
Corn that is harvested green is completely harvested. The entire plant and ears of corn are chopped up into small pieces where a combine only harvests the ears of corn when the plant is dry to collect the grain.
bigtractorpower you gave a better description then I did great video even though I have a farm I like the videos you get of all the equipment you manage to film of different producers great job gives me ideas of things to try
the part with the silo packing does you know how many cows the farm had? is that a dairy farm?
It is a dairy farm. I have not asked how many they milk. They are a grain and dairy farm. They just built a new milk barn. I hope to take a tour soon.
So with a pull type do they cut through the field running over corn after getting the headrows done?
The farms in this video just run over a few rows to open up. I hope to catch a tractor running over some rows to show that.
so i have never seen anyone in il with a chopper are you useing this on your farm whole stalks and all as feed and do you cover the pile of corn whe you done havesting

It was in the high 90’s. This farm always has the V12 open in corn.

This is right on time. Corn is planted here in March. Late July and early August is the time to chop.

those H & S wagons were the biggest piece of crap back in early " 70's " a we bought 3 two weeks later we… went to the dump wagon and trucks …H & S would not even come out to watch the thing self destruct could only load them half full ..we threw that money down the hole
Sorry to hear they had problems in the 70’s. The farm in the video has run H&S for at least a decade. They seem happy with them.
This is a bad year for corn in Texas. Every field of corn I see is withered.
