    Last shot brought back great memories. I ran Dad's 4020 pulling a John Deere #38 Two row chopper. He ran a 4520 pulling a second one. Back in 1974. We custom chopped 200,00 tons that year.

    This video runs the entire range from the 925 hp Claas, to the 95 hp John Deere.
    The self propelled harvesters powered by the Detroit Diesels made the same amount of noise, whether they were chopping corn or not!

    My favorite was the Fox. The Hesston was kind of funky. I guess I like the old school ones.

    Super 😎👍! Brought back memories of the days I used to do Corn Silage Research and the Fox Chopper, my Buddy bought one & made a lot of $ opening up fields for pull-type choppers. Merry Christmas!

    Worked in product engineering at Worked at Ford new Holland as well as Sperry new Holland before they got bought out by Ford The Wopper chopper was running way to slow? We tested as well other manufacturers were field tested at our facility. The tear down to see the inner works was enjoyable see. The sounds are great to hear.

    New Holland 880 is what I grew up using and badger forage wagons pulled it with a John Deere 4450 also had a New Holland model 30 blower filling silo hooked to a John Deere 7600

    I worked for this tight wad farmer where I operated a claas 6 row chopper. I had the oldest one of the bunch. It was about year 2003.

    WOW.....remember the old days, back in the 40-50's we had a GEHL one row PT pulled with Massey Harris 44 Special filed two 40' silos seamed like took for ever to fill the silos. Today with a 12 row machine could fill in one day !!!!!!! Call it progress !!

    Very interesting to see that Versatile standard tractor, are there many in the states? Would be very interesting to see how they unload these trailers - presumably into tower silos?

    Interesting. Silage isn’t much of a thing in our area. And corn is pretty rare here too. Those corn crops must yield a lot of t/ ha.🇦🇺👍

      Typically farms are looking for 22 to 25 tons of corn per acre in Silage.

    Like watching BigX 1100 at work cutting corn silage but I do like Claas. Interesting seen 1038 with nearly 400hp pulling forage harvester as Krone has forage built to hook onto 3 point linkage n operating in reverse drive for 1038 n bigger brother.

      The high capacity Dion Forage Harvesters have been growing in popularity over the past few years here. The 3pt mounted Krone would be neat to see.

      No he was squaring off a point row. The White 8710 with Dion was in the same field. The pull grabbed the pint row pass.

    I ran the same 5830 chopper with the same 4 row small drum head. Great head but the JD chopper was.....eh could have been better. Get hot quick, pain to change KP and auger bed, sharpening the knives was an ordeal, had to take half the knives out to get 3/4” cut.

    The best forge harvest is 708 UNI-System for not only a harvest it’s all so a corn picker a combine and snow blower In one.

    400 hp Tractor for a pulltype Harvester...amazing......here in Germany you see none pulltypes...

    The biggest BigX with it's 24 l - 12 cylinder - engine is a monster, it chops also all those other harvesters.... But it starts at 540.000€, so you have to chop all day long to earn your money.

    4:40 Funny moment Almost looks like the dog gets run over/ pulled into the machine, and then you start hearing that bone jarring sound as larger chunks get thrown into the wagon.

      The 1180 is offered in the US but I have not had the opportunity to film one yet. Claas and John Deere a fairly dominate in the market here.

    claas is the king of choppers, krone second position
    claas and new holland have best combines, but new holland cr have too big fuel consumption
