I see you using a land pride with downward assist. My problem is is I got a case ii 75. How do you get the flow to go back into the reservoir. Love to talk with you on the setup.
You dig a hole, A lot of stuff does not come out while it's spinning then when you pull it out a lot of stuff falls back into the hole filling it. I'm guessing because it's rocky and dry So I'm struggling here how do you actually get a hole into which a post will go?
Well there's a few different ways. 1 involves water and some extra dirt such as bentonite clay. 2 involves some kind of pounder. 3 involves the good old shovel and elbow grease to remove material. My favorite is probably some kind of pounder. You can easily pound post down in the hole if it's been pre-dug. Even with the bucket of a tractor sometimes. Or you can skip the pre-digging and get a big pounder. If I only have a handful of holes though I don't rent big pounder. Maybe I should do another video in future showing the different methods to complete such a task in soil like this.
That was painful to watch. Ya gotta clear the hole often rather than just dig all the way at first. Rocky ground has a good chance of binding up the auger so you'll never extract it.
@Nick Jones out here I could not dig a hole without the down pressure kit. It has been well worth it and would recommend it for sure. That being said I found mine to be a little finicky but once I learned all the little tricks I've had no problems to speak of. 👍👍
I’m in the opposite end of the state , way up in the northwest corner , and I’d rented one of those 2-man gas powered rigs … all day , me and a big strong dude got THREE 2’ holes dug … Renting one of these tomorrow. Dealing with some rocks , sure , but it’s the hardpan that is a b*tch where I am. Real close to the salt water and was the seabed not too many hundreds of years ago . Wish me luck .
you the man on a 3pt auger w/ rock.
Southeast Washington here. You’re walking on my soil! I appreciate the video
Thanks! Soil like this over there too? It makes it "fun" thats for sure. 👍👍
Big Fish yeah rocky loam is what they’re calling it. Ancient riverbed with no good rocks, black sand, dust and boulders
@@FlyingSeaMan256 ancient riverbed sounds about right. Not to often do i dig a hole where there is actually dirt. Haha 😄
Huh, I thought we down here in South Australia had the market cornered on rocky ground.
I subbed ya mate.
How does your auger not just screw into the dirt and get stuck where you can’t list. I’ve stuck my auger a few time and had to dig it out. 😒
I dig it.
Is that considered dirt? Don’t need Down pressure in my part of Michigan.
Not gonna go anywhere without down pressure here...haha. There's a little dirt in there....😁
