I just want to say thank you for your content. I really wish I found your channel a few years ago when I started my fire arms journey. For a young man who was just getting into owning a handgun and or even a rifle you constantly see the videos of what else your firearm needs. Which always sends me down the rabbit hole. After watching your vids I just look at my collection and realize how much money I spent on things I really don’t use.

  • @MrHarrilasagna

I own 3 SS firearms, and I would agree with the majority of your points. Grip isn't an issue because you have both the Glock and 1911 angled backstraps to slide on. I've only trained with the DR920 ironsights, and thumbs forward wasn't an issue (for me). I carry and shoot the cr920 but havent done any training with it. All I know is i'm a better shot with it than any lcp 1/2, hellcat, and p360. Carrying a walther ppk/s otherwise. Because all i really care about is putting shots on target. I carrying the cr920 because they dont make 12rd 9mm ppk's. 🤜🤛

when I was a young man first getting into pistols, glocks were fairly new, this was 1989, 1990 and everyone I knew was a 1911 the 5906 S&W was seen a weak little 9mm and everyone was on the .45 or nothing train, I got a glock 17 and I caught so much shit at the range, and at hunting camp etc. Watching a video like this in my 50’s now is hilarious that people STILL hold this view of a “toy” gun , that being said all those dudes who gave me shit were the guys leaving their guns in their car and didn’t carry, I jumped on early and never got off. glock is proven yet still catches hate. lol

I work with a lot of machinery because I'm a locksmith and I make knives. I'm grinding all the time. Asked my optometrist one time about ANSI Z87 rated glasses and he said almost all polycarbonate lenses are pretty much ANSI Z 87 equivalent and you're actually paying for that stamp on the glasses that OSHA wants, but other than the marking, there's not hardly any difference at all. Haven't done my own ballistic testing to prove it because I can't afford to test like that, but just throwing it out there.

  • @THEWILLYEFFECT

I agree 100% shooting and accuracy is a art form, time, dedication & persistence, if you don’t know what your doing you have to unlearn the bad things & retrain yourself how to properly grip & shoot. The crazy part is one you do that, now you have just started ( the fundamentals) now it’s time to put in more time & get better with speed and accuracy.
It’s also good to be honest and humble. If you throw a shot to far left or right be honest. Correct it and keep going. The more you do it, the more its muscle memory. But it takes time.

Okay, so, I was one of those idiot new shooters that had to be different. Everyone had a glock. The internet said the grip was fucky and the trigger was "blegh", so I got a CZ-P10c (this was around 6 years ago). Three years later, I broke down and bought a glock 19x, because the mags are everywhere and cheap as fuck, so I may as well have one in case SHTF, right? Well, wouldn't you fucking know, I go to the range, and I instantly, out of the box, shoot the 19x, which I'd never touched before, better than the gun I'd been shooting for 3 years. Now, I still had a lot of learning to do as a shooter, and I would grow a lot more over the coming years, but the fact remains, OW ain't wrong. Out of the numerous handguns I have now, the OG glock frame is still the one that compliments me the most as a shooter. Part of that is preference of the shooter, sure, but the 19 I carry day in and day out and have thousands of rounds through, hasn't malfunctioned once or given me any greif. Stop fighting it, just get a glock already (specifically a 19, or a 17 if you're a bigger guy and don't have trouble concealing it). ALSO, as the man says, a good, proper grip, takes effort and doesn't feel "natural", if that's even a thing.

Walther is making some good carry guns too. They make compacts. Canik''s compact is pretty meh. Their big guns are good tho. I dunno tho, I actually think Glock feels right when doing a proper grip. I like the ledge they have in front of the takedown pins. If need be you can use that kinda like a "gas pedal". A lot of guns are flat in that area and as such its not as easy to grip them when shooting fast. Canik has a little memory pad thing on the Rival frame but that isn't as good as a raised ledge like Glock has.
    I'll probably always carry Glock.
One other thing--the 1911 is definitely obsolete. HOWEVER, I like those newer 2011 type pistols. They're a little bulky but damn they're so easy to shoot fast. I don't own one so I can't speak from that perspective but I have had the opportunity to fire a few including some pretty good ones like Staccato P's and such. They're nice guns. I doubt they're as reliable as Glock but they're viable imo.
Edit: Damnit overton I'm 3 edits deep on this one. Just wanted to let you know, if you DO have a pistol you want to have milled Wager Machine Works does indeed cut the locator lugs(I think they're called Recoil Bosses or something?) on the slide for an RMR cut. They also have the slide back to you in around a week if you chose a cerakote finish. They do offer nitride too but that will take longer than a week to get back. They cost about $100.

Proper grips take practice and conditioning to get used to. When you start, it feels wrong, but a lot of beginners will over exaggerate their positions when unsupervised, making it worse. Use a mirror, there are other effective shooting techniques, if you need more options or find other techniques not quite doing it for you, I recommend grip strength.

I really like these spoken word long form explanations . It “ clicks “ in my smooth brain better. Like knowledge that has been passed down for millennia .
I am in awe of your tenacity for life after your health issues very inspiring actually. And the edits you do are top notch and with vision issues it has to be very hard .
The best way to thank you is to add more of your merch to my smooth brain patch.
    The lighter is genius 😂😂😂

While it is good advice to tell experienced people to get their holster first, before the gun, it is horrible advice to tell to newbies to do that. For people new to guns they don't know if they want to mount a light, or which light. They don't know if they want a gas pedal or tactical rail. They don't know if they want to replace anything that would make them need a custom or special ordered holster.

I think you might also be incorrect on locking your joints to mitigate recoil. Especially with that chicken wing thing you were doing. Just as you spoke about the teacup of Paul walker, I think you need to maybe do some more research on what new techniques and disciplines have come about. Concerning pistol handling techniques. It’s probably not that new but it’s been more prevalent now.

Had a relatively new sig that the front sight went dead on? Someone suggested that gun cleaner or oil killed it...well then it's shit

The glock is a good pistol but Personally i prefer the 1911 but if ww3 dose happen i would probably use the 1911 that uses glock mags
