@@Jeff-zc6rr I think Zuckerberg had developed many applications before joining The Facebook which means that the Winklevoss Twins brought his technical expertise on board for a reason, without which they would've had no The Facebook that could develop into anything worthwhile. At least that appears to be the story in the Social Network movie.

Pros of Python: 1) allows you to create an MVP pretty quickly; 2) the hourly rate is much lower; 3) it's easier to learn so there will be more developers.

But today the majority of people access an app via a smartphone. Need to know programming for Android or iOS to build an app.

@americancitizen748 thus, javascript. Almost as easy as python and can do all platforms. I am doing my mvp in react native and it is way easier than 'native' app platforms.

LOL the very first slide (with actual content) had me laughing hard already. Online dating is "optimized for men". Yeah right. Because men just love having to send hundreds of messages because they rarely ever get responses. And in some cases having to pay while women can use it for free.
Ugh... I probably shouldn't bother listening to any more she has to say.

do you have any idea how fucking hard it's to built a a basic ecommerce site
first you need do frontend for like 30-80 pages
      you need shipping system
      rating system
admin panel with order, refunds, shipping, questions, inventory (sku, varieties, pricing for each)
      email reminders
credit card handling (chargebacks, recurring payment)
      search functionality
mobile version of all this shit
      testing
      SSL
then you have to build architecture that is
      event system
      mail servers
      load balancers

It appears to me many many people who give these presentations do so because they actually want to talk about their product and get an audience for their story rather than give people useful advice about the topic they're supposed to be speaking about. As evidence, I asked myself every minute that went by "what was the topic of what she said in the last minute?" And for just about the whole presentation the answer was "the purpose is to tell the audience about her app and it's story as a form of free PR and a sprinkle of self celebration." And I have done this for many other YC presenters and for many of them it's the same thing. Most notorious for this self centered manipulative behavior is the former Uber CEO Travis K. I think just about every presentation that guy did, no matter the topic, turned into an Uber documentary of different lengths. He doesn't even try to pretend to cover the topic. He just straight away goes into his story which often sounds like he's given it a 100 times already. Very canned. I think the organizers of these talks should be more aware of the people who do this and try harder to put people on that stage that will actually cover the topic and not use the time to just pitch their stories to anyone who hasn't heard it yet.
