I can't understand how this song was not included in Shrek soundtrack
Shreck fight scene + Ogre battle song! czcams.com/video/PChGhJCiTO8/video.html
I would have used it as a soundtrack to The Lord of the Rings... it would have been great to the Helm’s Deep or the Pelennor Fields’ Battle scene!!
The song is too racist for ogres.

People forget how heavy Queen was in the beginning.Amazing!
There's a lot of bands that are misunderstood by the average listener. A lot of people aren't familiar with Rush''s hard prog rock music of the 70s. Or they don't know how raw the Beatles were when they played clubs in Germany in 1961. Or they don't know that Deep Purple started as a classically influenced pop group, or they don't know how great Black Sabbath first six albums were. Queen are one of the most misunderstood bands though. For a lot of "fans" it's all about the Greatest Hits and Freddie the showman.
The only song where JRPG, JoJo, and metal fans converge.

"Ogre Street" is most likely not referencing Ogre Battle, since Araki's references are often much more blatant. Ogre Battle doesn't match at all. There's no basis to assume the "Ogre" is referring to this song any more than it's referring to the mythical monster, since Ogre Street is a dangerous, "cursed" place.
This song was so popular they named the most dangerous street in London after it

Saw them in december 1974 in The Hague. The hall was only half filled because they were just starting their career. I couldn't believe what I heard and what I saw on stage. how queen influenced heavy metal! epic, fast and loud. masterpiece.
It was heavier than Sabbath, Rainbow and Judast Priest in 74/75. Queen pioneers of Heavy Metal.
@@queenelmejor Metal can be traced back to "Helter Skelter" by the Beatles.
@@queenelmejor This honestly very close to the Power Metal genre cuz of its fantasy lyrics, opera section, heavy riffs and experimentation.
Led Zeppelin tho
Master of Reality was released in 71 that to me is the first proper metal album. Paranoid being more proto metal than metal I would say (though I understand it is widely consider the first metal album) but MoR was noticeably heavier. Queen is still awesome of course and the diversity of styles/genres they played was very impressive.
OGRE BATTLE: THE MARCH OF THE BLACK QUEEN
One of the greatest SNES-era RPGs!
been listening to this for 40 years and still blows me away every time
God 40 years mate where does the time go
I agree!!
Dear God Queen I & II are masterpiece, I pity the new generation who like Queen , but not familiar with 70's Queen. Saw them in 75 or 76 , they did this
Early 70's Queen was really something else. This was from Queen II, released in March 1974, almost two years before ANATO which was November 1975. Pre-Bohemian Rhapsody there was so much great stuff.
I love all eras of the band really, but I think people who don't listen to this earlier stuff are missing out on a lot. But you do see some of this hard rock energy on some of their stuff later on, particularly Hammer to Fall (1984) and Innuendo (1991). The Prophet's Song from ANATO is one of my personal favourites.
Fun fact - Queen II was originally going to be called 'Over the Top'.
Underrated song.
Queen II is an underrated long play

QUEEN II is absolutely the best album they have made!!! A Night at the opera is a great album also but as I said QUEEN II is their best album ever!!!!!
VideoGame Addict237 my fav is none other than Sheer Heart Attack, has the most amount of songs that i love, but the best song (in my opinion) is in Innuendo, it is called The Show Must Go On...
it is the BEST ALBUM
Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, and A Night at the Opera are one of the most incredible back-to-back trios of releases ever. It's just wall-to-wall greatness- impeccable blending of myriad styles, otherworldly vocals and playing, and employing of studio techniques that had never been used before. Groundbreaking all the way and boundlessly influential.
I am so with you!!! And the techniques QUEEN used back in the day are still not used. Like the big choir wit just 4 (3 John did´t sing) guys. And the sound of Brian May´s guitar is so unique to this day. Roger plays drums like no-one ever, Freddie is and will be one of his kind always and John and his bass will complete the whole package. I make music and I´d love to have Brian to play one of my songs....
Genomizer The way that Brian tune his your right incredible energy star incredible you next dad and him both that guitar out of a Stratocaster violin Brian and electrical engineer and his father was a wood worker I can get them story right but anyway those guys there's never going to to people like them there all unique people and intelligent individuals was sure miss them when they're all together I got a chance to Adam Lambert John wasn't there so it was a good show but it wasn't like Queen close this thing will get to it though ready just missed a lot
Fun fact: Freddie wrote the riff for “Ogre Battle” [from 1974's Queen II].
one of Freddies,he normal wrote on piano, some songs write parts on guitar but this was one of few he wrote completly on guitar
otherwise he would write on piano and Brian would transcribe onto guitar(but composed most of his solos)
Freddie composed the entire song on guitar inc heavy metal style riff
Brian only mentioned the riff in one interview
but on others he did say he wrote all of it on guitar
on the commentary he did with Roger for crazy little thing called love he said Freddie did all of it on guitar
in an interview he said when Freddie did compose on guitar it was normally in odd keys that he wouldn't have used as your hand didnt naturally fall that way
' forced me to find ways of doing things create unusual sounds'
''Bo rap champions killer Queen all weird keys' (Freddies songs)
I love the intro. And not only the intro. :)
For me, 'Queen II' is one of Queen's very, very best albums.
Ratelzwatel one of the very is a strange statement
I couldn't agree more. My five favourites are Ogre Battle, The March of The Black Queen, Seven Seas of Rhye, White Queen and The Fairy Fellers Masterstroke

8th episode of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure was named "Ogre Battle". Given the dozens of musical references in the franchise, the title was an obvious reference to this song.
The references in JoJo's is why I love it so much. It's rare that I don't get a reference and usually if I tell a family member about the character I didn't get the reference to they know it (usually it's an obscure artist from the 70's). I got my jjba birthmark tattoo and have been working on the manga for a while now. Nothing beats seeing David Bowie using queen references to kill shine on crazy diamond.
It's also fun to gauge the percent of comments that are based on jojo's to measure the impact of the reference.

Well I never knew there where a song about my street.
"Ogre Street" is most likely not referencing Ogre Battle, since Araki's references are often much more blatant. Ogre Battle doesn't match at all. @@manuelmateo3392 but the chapter / episode was called ogre battle
@@AffyMoon It wasn't called "Ogre Battle", it was called "The Battle on Ogre Street". It doesn't directly reference the song, and the name could just as easily be referring to fight that goes down.
