My favorite singer is Tarja, my favorite albums were with anette, my favorite NIGHTWISH is Floor. People always identify Nightwish to who the singer was at the time... NOPE! Its Tuomas and Marko's masterpiece. Tuomas has gotten what he needed from each singer for their respective albums, however, Floor is the most diverse and truly opens up the creative channels and directions you can take a single album, or even song.

I am a 68 year old man who discovered this group after watching a video using one of their songs. After listening to all of their songs on here, I have to admit that Nightwish is an awesome band and Floor Jansen is spectacular. My favorite without question!

I am genuinely in love with this woman. Best singer of this generation, amazing stage presence, can comunicate so much emotion with her voice. She's beautiful, sexy, powerful, strong and I can tell, kind and positive.What a gem.

Overall, not just vocally. Her on stage energy basically brightened the whole band, all on stage are smiling, which didn't happen that much (like in almost every song) back then with Tarja or Anette. Floor does wonders not only vocally. So she indeed is the best thing, that ever happened to Nightwish.

Nightwish needs to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Very few could ever hope to match the level of story telling, performance and atmosphere they create. Combining metal, rock, operatic and folk elements, and symphony orchestras to create such incredible scores unworthy of movies. It shouldn't work, but it does and it does it so well.
Who wants to be called Rock & Roll if they are Metal? Nightwish has been inducted into the Metal Hall of Fame in Finland. They have a museum dedicated to them. And a musical. And a movie. And a whine. And archeological findings. And newly discovered animal species. So, yeah.

And it would mean they'd 'conquered' North America; a goal they haven't come close to achieving yet. With respect, the Metal Hall of Fame isn't quite in the same league. And it means international permanence which all bands seek because one day they will all be gone.

There are greater and more desirable things to do and to achieve. Like for Nightwish, being the unmatched No. 1 within their music genre for decades. And making music that they love themselves and having people on stage that they want to have there. You will never have them a Lady Gaga wiggling next to them on their stage, while looking like they wish someone would nuke them right then and there (referring to that one concert of Metallica - a band who did conquer Northamerica).

Hmm depends, I prefer Floors voice in live recordings in comparison to studio recordings. The rest sounds horrible in my opinion. There's hardly any detail hearable.

Was more meant to be in comparison with the stuff she's been doing for Nightwish they record very "steril/clean". Thank you for the album tip, didn't know that she was singing for Ayreon as well. Is there a special song you would recommend from that album?
Not really. The whole thing is amazing. That album has an incredible group of vocalists on it; Floor, James LaBrie, Mikael Akerfeldt, Devin Townsend and more

When I first discovered Nightwish many, many years ago I was instantly drawn to their music. However, after listening to them a few times, I quickly got sick of it because although Tarja's voice was undeniably beautiful, it sounded kind of similar in every song. But when Floor came in, it felt like I was discovering the band for the first time all over again. She makes every song sound so much more dynamic and adds so much energy, emotion and versatility to them. Now I can say Nightwish is one of my favorite bands because of her. I am not saying in any way that Tarja is an inferior singer but I do find Floor a much better fit for Nightwish.

Sums up my experience pretty much. When Tarja 'left' at first I was shocked because I have grown accustomed to the sound, but it still had to grow on me back in the days. Also when I found out Floor was joining NW I was filled with national pride (being dutch): A dutch singer joining NW! I love how the band have that synergy and are enjoying the music and performing it. It makes me enjoy the music even more. This is of course more apparent live: great energy and I totally makes me happy for them that they can enjoy this live themselves. The best way to judge a band is to see them live, and they absolutely kill it. And Floor just rocks in stage presence, vocal control and appearing as a member of the band, not just as a singing addition to the band.
Still I do also love Annette's voice on for example Amaranth. I do also listen to Tarja's work now and then and I like that as well, so it's not like I don't appreciate her singing.
I've only been listening to them for 8 months or so and I'm so deeply impressed by Floor's vocals I can't even bring myself to listen to either of the previous ladies.

@@Drac0nium Absolutely! I agree 100%. So many bands think that having the "best" players means they'll be super groups. It reminds me of the movie "Miracle" about the 1980 U.S. hockey team. After selecting the players from the list, assistant coach Patrick said, "You're missing some of the best players." Coach Brooks replied, "I'm not looking for the best players Craig, I'm looking for the right ones". The same applies to bands.
This is why Nightwish fans are the greatest in the world. I'm proud to say that I can be counted as one of them.

Best vocalist in the world at the moment, her range is mad on every single style, she can just do anything, and doesn't matter who you throw at me as an example, there is nobody better at the moment, there are plenty good vocalists, but they only master 1-3 styles max, Floor doesn't she masters it all, from grunting to opera, this woman is a gift to your ears, it's absolute madness the range on her vocal cord :)

she is more than just a metal singer ... she has got a full theatrical range, all kinds of musical theatre... yes there are a lot of good singers at opera houses, but most of them do not dare to sing metal or also also "dark" styles ... ok, Lori Lewis does, Laura Macr does, but with respect to metal music, not many have a powerful belt voice and an operatic soprano voice and the singers who dare to sing both are rare ... I know a german soprano who can even do growls but did not yet enter the metal stage ...

I agree with all of this, your comment and @Sessa Melkor. I'm just making the point that Floor isn't "in command" of the band, which was the original comment. She isn't "The Queen". Tarja made the mistake of thinking that and the many, many comments I read on just about all Nightwish YT videos, which suggest that Floor is the raison d'etre of the band rather than just the current singer will not go unnoticed by three people who are essentially fragile.

I remember this concert in Lyon in France, we went there because we love you, and to pay tribute to my dad, who died a few months before and he loved you very much.

nightwish is only band whose songs sounds in live much better than in studio versions
for me the same can be said for Within Temptation. But Nightwish is fantastic live. Will be seeing them agaiin in november.

I completely agree. I want a live concert version of the Siren with Floor on vocals so bad.
Also I;'ve noticed. that Empuu's tone on his guitar/amp setup is waaay better live than it is on any of their records, it helps fill out the songs a lot more.

The sound engineer did a great job for this gig. I remember I was totally blown away when Empu's guitar kicked in.

A few words for the always underrated Emppu in this one: amazing guitar tone, both rythm and leads, great and rock-solid groove. He remainds me of Brian May: a great musician who plays guitar. No shredder, but a master of good taste and musicianship. Kiitos!
Symphonic metal is not so mainstream. Amazing artists and musicians and no spotlights of the media.

The last Time in Oberhausen, Germany 2018. I was there with a lot of disable People and they has so much Fun the whole Concert. I am a 65 year old Guy, but i must cry the whole Concert.😍😍😘😘🥰🥰

I reckon there wont be a more anticipated person to appear on a rock stage in 2018 than this phenomenon called Floor Jansen. Im sorry but she has stolen my soul. Sorry Bruce and Maiden (life long fan Brothers) this is now the best live band in the world. And that is with ultimate respect.
And I also pay deep respect to the whole Nightwish group. Fantastic songs by Tuomas and great skills by all the band (Marco special mention cause I love his guitar and voice) This band is on the verge of SUPERSTARDOM.

No, brother, your soul is forever yours. I love both those incredible bands but for different reasons! One could never replace the other! I would, however LOVE, to see them on the same stage at the same show!
Nightwish, and Iron Maiden on a world tour together! Now that is a wet dream in Technicolor!! And we know who will be piloting the plane!
Blind Guardian blows live, especially without all the layered vocals. One of the tightest live acts I've ever seen was Iced Earth......and I've seen Maiden 6-7 times, Priest 9 times, etc.
Nightwish are already superstars in Europe but unfortunately North Americans are latecomers to symphonic or power metal.
