You rock
and i love your outfit for this video

@Richard Frye lol
Love this song and well all Nightwish songs!
The first time I heard this song, they had just brought me out of the Intensive Care Unit. I still couldn't move my fingers properly when I was trying to press the thumbnail.
It proved to be a moment of happiness in a really miserable time.
Thank you Nightwish.
+unacomn
I hope you're doing much better!?
+unacomn I wish you a speedy recovery! :)

I hope everything's better now!
Thank you to everyone for your well wishes. I am much better now.

The Floor IS lava

I was drunk and missed the toilet, pissing all over the Floor.
I have just found Nightwish!68 years old! The best music I have ever heard.Floor is a delight:
Welcome to the unbelievable journey!
Found them a couple of years back thanks to an artist named Leah (celt/metal/gamer, well worth checking out - her latest (Ancient Winter) was a Christmas album, but unbelievers shouldn't avoid it as it is GORGEOUS and led me to her other stuff! Leah covered some Nightwish songs way back before becoming a big deal in her own right, and recommends them highly - her fan group does a thing called Metal Monday which led me to Nightwish early on! By the way I'm 75 and grew up in Toronto, so from the late 60's to the mid 70's when I moved elsewhere I saw every folk and rock artist of any significance who visited Southern Ontario in concert - so my standards are ridiculously high! Thanks to the Internet I get exposed to a LOT of independent artists, and a surprising number (e.g. Nightwish) meet my exactingl listen-often standards! ❤
Their earlier stuff is even better.
Never seen a metal band look so happy to be playing metal.
Watch Isaac from Epica play guitar
It's not metal - it's a disco.
you are a disco , your mind is a disco you eyes is a disco you all disco stupid@@szachmatol
This song is not metal. Nightwish is not easy to pigeonhole.

As someone who's always had an interest in animals and biology, the science references in these lyrics are really cool. Let's see, we've got:
"Look at yourself in the eyes of aye-aye" - An aye-aye is a really weird, cool species of lemur that exists today. It's also a primate, which makes it one of our modern-day cousins.
"Welcoming the shrew that survived" - Likely a reference to the idea that primates may have evolved from a species of extinct, shrew-like mammal (which wasn't literally a shrew, of course, but it probably looked a lot like one).
"To see the tiktaalik take her first walk" - The tiktaalik was an extinct ancient fish with leg-like fins that would have allowed it to walk on land for short periods of time. Scientists believe it might represent the evolutionary transition between fish and amphibians.
"Deeper down in Panthalassa" - Panthalassa is the name given to the ancient super-ocean that surrounded Pangaea, until continental drift eventually created the continents and oceans we know today.
"A eukaryote finds her way" - A eukaryote is any organism with cells that have a nucleus contained inside a membrane; basically, the kind of cell most people would have learned about in high school biology. Almost all multicellular organisms are eukaryotes, so if eukaryote cells hadn't evolved, we wouldn't be here.
So in general, this is some pretty smart stuff. We don't see enough appreciation out there for the beauty of life in all its complexity. :)
Sounds like something I would write.
Just one slight correction; you said:
"The tiktaalik was an extinct ancient fish with leg-like fins that would have allowed it to walk on land for short periods of time. Scientists believe it might represent the evolutionary transition between fish and amphibians."
While science and scientists are typically very careful with expressing any level of certainty, "might represent" here, in this case, is much too cautious. This, not only the existence of Tiktaalik, but it's age, and the likely place it would be found, were all predicted from the theory, and Tiktaalik was indeed found, as predicted, where predicted, in the right age rocks. Tiktaalik was thus a remarkable confirmation of a prediction, and thus it would be very unlikely indeed that it wouldn't represent a transitional form showing the conquering of land by our fish ancestors. I'd correct the "might represent" to "very likely represents", and even that might be a tad too cautious, under the circumstances.
Boy you just gave a whole new meaning to this song for me. Evolutionary Biological Metal !
The entire lyrics are referencing Richard Dawkins' book, The Ancestor's Tale. It's even going backwards through time like he did in the book.
it is just a song so they try to make a text that rhyme but where they pick this from idk but it says endless forms most beautiful endless organisms are fish are still here and the ocean too so maybe is that why they pick it for a song
Nightwish is the best discovery of the Pandemic for me. I still cant believe how little exposure they have received in North America. This is definitely in my top 5 Nightwish songs so far. I love the lyric video format.
Not just North America, NW are virtually unknown by the public in the UK as well. Mainstream media are piss poor here, the NW family must keep spreading the word!
Same here… discovered them 2020 in deep and adore the complete catalogue… so multilayer intelligent high quality music with full talent.
One does not simply read Nightwish lyrics without learning something new.
@@Paulkfrsoldgit Yes agree 100%. I am a lifelong Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.) enthusiast and I had not heard of Nightwish or Floor until around 6 months ago or so until a friend kept pestering me to have a listen to them preferably live... So I did just to shut said friend up not expecting to like what I heard (not expecting to like symphonic metal). Friend said go on, give "The Poet and the Pendulum" a try live, I did and OMG I was blown away and have been down the Nightwish rabbit hole ever since busy absorbing everything Nightwish related from the wonderful Tarja and Annette eras and now the incomparable Floor. 👍😊🙏
I am so lucky to have found them earlier - I got to see them twice before the pandemic. Now, I don't know if they'll ever be in the US again - but if they are, and anywhere remotely near me, I guarantee you I will be there.
This woman is magical ..
65 years old and I haven't been able to find a thing that I don't like about this group. Incredible.
I am 67 and I wish I had discovered Nightwish years ago instead of only last yeat

Lol. No dude, metal is not about Satan, booze or drugs. In fact, Metal is all about intellectualism something that Democrats and Republicans strongly despises in our country. Then, whole world wonders how the f' we got CoV cases more than China? I love this Band... They are so open minded.

Floor has one of them smiles that makes other people smile.
I still cant get over how good this album is. Music takes a back seat nowdays, in the background on the way to work or while you're busy browsing facebook. This is the first album for a good 10 years to make me stop what I was doing and listen, really listen whilst studying the beautiful 2CD case/book, reading the lyrics.
It really embodies the name, an endless form, most beautiful.

Doesn't make me sad, is the emotions and feelings that the song brings. A true masterpiece
''Our floating pale blue ark'' is the most inspiring line in this music video! 🌎
Emppu is really underrated as a guitarist, and seems to be a really humble guy. In a band with so much talent and striking people, lets face it Floor is gorgeous, his guitar really is a massive part of the Nightwish experience.
I thnk so too, his riffs are brutal. He's just that humble, he just hasn't that big of an ego. He does what needs to be done I guess.
i think he is a vampire, he doesnt seem to ever age
He is truly great.
Agreed. I had started learning guitar before I discovered Nightwish, but discovering them, and Emppu, is the #1 reason I started to advance - because I wanted to learn how to play some of the songs he plays. He's an absolutely fantastic guitarist, but I agree with the humbleness - but what's so awesome about that is that someone like me can learn some of the songs he plays, because they're simpler, but then also find challenges within the repertoire as well, like Wishmaster, The Kinslayer, or Shudder Before The Beautiful. He does enough songs that I can actually play along with to feel like I'm getting somewhere...but still put out enough challenges that make me learn how to be a better player.
This guy on the chair playing the guitar is pumped up as hell. I like it.
+Don'tDieInVain Congrats, you're one of the few who doesn't think he's e.g having constipation or getting too old to play standing...
ok...
( constipation? lmao)
+aliveandkickingohyea It's actually a visual effect. You'll notice in Elan, during his scenes with Floor, he's also sitting in that video. It's to reduce how noticeable it is that she's half a foot taller.
+Joanna Bedard They don't have any problem with it on stage. :) They even give a high - or in fact a low five to each other during the show. :D
*****
Irrelevant. A music video isn't designed to imitate a live show experience. No one said anyone had a problem with it. In any case, It's probably the director's idea. it's a commonly used technique, as is having the shorter person stand a few feet behind the taller.
This album is great !
+Essence IMO the best one they've ever done.
Unbelievably beautiful, I'm still under the influence of the song and the vocal.

I love absolutely everything about the way Floor says Tiktaalik!
Floor has a very professional, well trained crystal clear voice.
Then you will love real opera or the American folk singers from the sixties like Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell.
you know that part in a lot of nightwish songs when the music dies down for a few seconds, and then the epicness starts. That's always my favourite part.

"The music of this awe
Deep silence between the notes
Deafens me with endless love" - Shudder Before The Beautiful
:)
The subtle thing I've noticed about this video is just how relaxed they all look. Floor has done wonders for this band.
The guitarist looks in pain
Stability is fantastic in that regard. Not having to worry about getting another singer allows unfettered access to creativity.
Except Marco (the bassist), he just always looks angry, its his Metal 'look' haha.
"Hey, what are we going to use for a backdrop for this song about the Grandeur of nature and evolution?"
"Well, we've got this Nifty steampunk background we haven't used yet."
"Brilliant!"
Complex mechanical devices are a common analogy when discussing life. e.g. Dawkin's "Blind Watchmaker" which is itself a reference to the concept of God as something analagous to a watchmaker.
@@cargo_vroom9729 Indeed! Although, while the teleological argument does not "prove" God's existence, as its creators had hoped, it does raise a good point about order vs. chaos and the nature of life in the maelstrom of the chaotic universe and it's inherent entropy.
Whether or not you choose to believe in a higher universal consciousness, the beauty and improbably of life's mechanisms are a wonder to behold.
Back to the topic, I think the watch mechanism background was appropriate for the reason you stated.
I caught that irony too. Lol
Um, isn't it clock cogs, e.g. representing passing time?
Makes sense, since Nature is the Perfect Machine.
This video was just amazing to me when I first saw it (I've watched it many times now). Floor joining the band has made such a change. Looking at pre-Floor videos and live performances, the guys in Nightwish were oh-so-serious ... Floor joined the band, and suddenly, everybody looks so happy. There is a joy in the music that wasn't there before. Marco .. SMILING! Floor's presence has been very very good for Nightwish.
I feel like with Floor the band finally found it's footing permanently. There wasn't anything wrong per-say with the band prior, but they were going by how serious their prior leads were. Floor, just genuinely has fun with it. Have you seen their Hell Fest live stream? Oh my lord, the amount of fun I had just watching that stream.
Nightwish may change their singers. What they have never changed is this feeling of romanticism. Their music romanticizes nature, love, childhood, science... My favorite band, I've listened to their music uninterruptedly for almost fifteen years now and still feel deeply connected to both their lyrics and their sound.
have just came across this band wow this song is the single most uplifting piece of music i have ever heard and i have listened to a lot of music in my 52 years this just grips me with ore the talent ,the artistry, the tightness of the band watched the live gigs wow what a show god bless you all A NEW FAN.

@@tommiturmiola3682 Simple: Sabaton. Or Кипелов if you speak russian.
No "We were here"
Lol, Darwinian evolution is not biology, it's religion. In fact, it's superstition because at least other religions contain psychological truths, where as Darwinian evolution is really based on faith alone. Anyone who knows anything about history and science knows that that this idiotic hypothesis (it's not a theory because in scientific discourse, theory is a term that requires some evidence to be called that) makes no sense and there is no proof for it. Darwin was a nutjob and this idea came from his grandfather, not him. And again, it's not science...it's a political ideology which presents nature only as a dominance hierarchy and a ruthless battle for survival and therefore in context of the time when those idiots lived gives them pseudoscientific justification to enslave the "lesser races", because white British men are the peak of evolution for them. What Darwin and his proponents forget to mention is that symbiosis is as much a part of nature as survival of the fittest is, and even human beings could not exist without our gut bacteria + nature itself is full of organisms that help each other to survive.
Darwinian evolution is a pseudoscientific political and religious doctrine and scientists promoting this crap are what nothing more than moral prostitutes or people too afraid to speak out, because they know there is zero evidence for this in observable reality. Not only that, but for almost 200 years in which garbage hypothesis has been around, the Darwinians fail to present any real evidence and they are trying to portray anyone who disagrees as some wild-haired Bible thumping creationist. In other words, in lack of evidence they are using ad hominem attacks on people who for the most part are not religious loonies, but are biologists, microbiologists etc. and have equal or better scientific credentials as the Darwinians.
Evolution is a fact. Organisms evolve and adapt over periods of time and we can see this. The mechanics of evolution are for the most part still unclear and it's an ongoing process of determining how it happens. Darwinian evolution on the other hand is religion and nothing else, and on top of no real evidence for it, the best proof that it's garbage is that the most popular Darwinians need to sink so low to use ad hominem attacks on real scientists because they have real evidence of their own.
On top of all that, Darwinian evolution is a linguistic fraud as well. One of the mechanisms of this idiotic theory is the so-called natural selection.
Natural - of the natural world.
Selection - the action or fact of carefully choosing someone or something as being the best or most suitable.
So they are using a word which implies conscious choice to describe a theory that promotes "lucky coincidences". A very stupid pseudo philosopher named Daniel Dennett once said something like: "we know it's all a series of lucky conicidences". Well ok, if that's supposed to be science, then go predict something from a lucky coincidence or replicate something from it.
It's a good song, but Tuomas is once again trying to be cute and progressive while having absolutely no idea what he's talking about :D.

This song and also the full album helped me through a tough time in my life. After the death of my cat and both of my parents in half a year I was in a state were life wasn't worth living for me. But this music with the voices of Floor and Marco and the beautiful lyrics from Tuomas helped me to withstand the urge to give up. WOW she can do opera and metal!
Rarely has music touched me as powerfully as this song. The first time she sang ‘of endless forms most beautiful’, hair literally stood on the back of my neck, my arms, hell, even on my legs. The bridge works brilliantly, and unlike often in pop/rock/metal, the modulation does nothing but elevate the song. Last time I felt the way I do know - almost exhausted - was after participating in performing Mozarts Requiem. I cannot say exactly what it is with this song, but it is powerful not only in music, but in lyrics as well, in a way that is incredibly rare today.

Ok I'm firmly convinced that Nightwish can not make a bad song. I'm totally hooked
What I like the most about the concept behind this song is that Tuomas has been brilliantly writing about it for a long time, like in "A Return to the Sea". Sadly it's not a well-known song, but the lyrics are just as beautiful as EFMB's. I admire how he's always in awe acknowledging Nature's greatness. :)

I listened to TSGOE while going down the worlds second longest zip line in Alaska and the combination of the view and the song was absolutely EPIC!
Dave Mason must have been really epic :) last month i was on a trip to norway and everytime i stood there on one of those many hills and mountains with my friends and all of us were amazed by the landscape, i had to think of this band and how perfectly their music would fit as the soundtrack for our tour.

As I've said elsewhere my daughter introduced me to Nightwish through their epic Nemo. I sought listened to it in the car now and again then CZcams them and BANG I hear the best band since Iron Maiden. Floor is without doubt the best female vocalist I have ever heard. I actually get tears in my eyes listening to some of her singing. Sad but true 🤘
Muito top esse som...
As metalhead and biology student, just love it xD
I hope music like this encourages people into science!
Learning about and appreciating the world around you is beautiful
I found a poem written by my ancestor in the mid 1800's called Beautiful Things. NW has inspired me to put a melody to it. :)
Floor jansen😍🤘
I love Jansen, she's such a beautiful and excellent vocalist
Having seen her live, I can most confidently say that she's the best thing that happened to Nightwish in a while.
In a while.. Tarja was best.
i dont know what it was about her, tarja suited the bands style of music a little more in my opinion, now i feel they are forcing a different style because of floor, i wonder what would have happened if tarja stayed, but i feel like im listening to a different band altogether since tarja left
YES!
Just be happy yall that Anette is no more part of Nightwish
actually it was Marco who turned Nightwish into a more metal band, Floor just came to complete the new sound perfectly, Tarja was amazing but I like this Nightwish much more
Whoa! Just when I thought I could not love them any more than I already did. 🤩
just discovered Nightwish today and i say im lovin IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
I used to listen nightwish since i was 8. Still love them :D
@@krisztian9581 me too bro
@@krisztian9581 well when i was 8 i was drowned in Elton John, Scorpions, Barry Manilow, Bon Jovi etc etc whatever my dad listens to hahaha hell even now
Congratulations! You're life has changes, Nightwish are pure magic.
you should also check out their original singer and co-founder Tarja Turunen for a mindblowing experience
I see this song as a love letter to our planet. Always shakes me to read it ...
planet? hahahahhhaa you noob earth is not a planet
dont be so gay and stupid
@Anakin. If that was a joke, it wasn't good. But if you really think, that the Earth is not a planet, you are stupid.
@@jariseppala9719 earth is not a planet. you are stupid and naive for believing so
Tad pretenious
Anakin. What you call Earth, if not a planet? And why you don't think it's a planet? Some sort of cult belief?
Although rock often takes inspiration from medieval nordic myth, it is refreshing to see something inspired from the reality of our origin. Nightwish has my respect, for this bold, new album
Nightwish always make the difference ... Hale Floor! Queen !
Seen them perform this Live and there's nothing like it ... Nightwish is my no.1 Band for Life.
the new Album is so amazing good :)
Floor Jansen is such a delightful singer.
First seen nightwish when I came across the greatest show on earth Live from wacken and omg was I hooked. Awesome band and definitely the best female vocalist I have ever heard in floor jansen. Big love from Ireland and can't wait to see them live in Dublin at the end of the summer.
KAI HAHTO IS THE BEST!!!
FLOOR is the most AMAZING! FLOOR IS AMAZIMG!!!
I was told she was the best singer ever to front Nightwish. I totally agree. It is so powerful and clean and the tone is stunning
Love floor
And yet, it seems that they don't take advantage of all her capabilities... Tuomas should write a song where she throws some death growls
@@thelonespecter well, she does some in Yours is an empty Hope, so that is already done too
I disagree, all 3 singers bring a different vibe to the band as a whole.
It depends on the individuals who listen to the band. Just my opinion though.
I lobe all three and the band as a whole.
Floor at 4:15 had my heart racing not gonna lie.
Probably their catchiest song of all-time along with Storytime and now also Noiseeeeeeeee!
Piękna Kobieta i piękny głos. Można słuchać i słuchać😊
