Will you ever be in Vegas doing appraisals any time this year? Having worked at a thrift store myself for over 6++ years I've amassed an enormous amount of jewelry. Some pieces are extraordinary and would love it for you to see them in person. Pics wouldn't do them justice.

The thing I like most about your vids, besides your hootzpa, is when you teach little things about social history. Like in another video you explained about how people used to tie cans to newlyweds car to scare evil spirits. I also learned from you that a shoe meant prosperity so people would throw shoes at the groom lol. I love learning the reasons for why we started doing things a certain way.
Never knew repousse was a type of silver, I assumed it was the style. I recently bought a pretty large heart shaped pendant with a crown on top of it, similar style to that set with the scroll work and flowers. It was described as repousse on eBay.

I never knew that was a waste bowl. I love old silver, but I'm always scared to clean it unless it's Sterling. I have a Sterling silver perfume bottle I would love to have appraised. I'm saving money to hopefully pay for a video call with you where we can dig through my jewelry. ❤️❤️

You gave us a lot of good info about figuring out the value of all the pieces we've collected through the years, thanks. Most of it is, unfortunately, not all that valuable, though!
My values are based on where I have seen actual sales. Meaning people really pay that much. I have seen it. People lose a lot of money selling too low because they don't believe their pieces are that valuable. Or, someone tells them that their stuff is not worth that much so that someone can get a bargain for themselves. Be careful :) Happy you enjoy the videos.

Dr. Lori, I noticed much of the silver and silver overlay was not polished. Are we not to keep our silver clean? Are silver cleaning clothes safe to use? Is the silver gdip liquid safe? Or is there another silver polish you can recommend please?
I always enjoy watching you where and whenever I can. Not flattery. Just truth. I laugh, smile, sometimes deep belly laugh watching your comedy appraisals shows. I learn too. You must already know your teaching style is the best way to get people to remember what is being taught. On my bucket list is to go to one or more of your appraisal shows.

I got this Nippon dish (sorta flat bowl with deeper circle in the bottom and its on a pedestal) and 8 months later still cant find one that matches ANY Where on line... Its driving me Nuts 😜
But pretty sure it dates from 1875 to 1891 has the green markings.

I bought a silver tray at a thrift store for $4. It says L LAPAR ORFEVRE R.DE CHOISEUL PARIS stamped into the back with other stamp marks like a Roman soldier side profile helmet. It weighs 29.2 ounces. Is it Sterling?

Dear Dr Lori I have silver plated creamers that say Benjamin Franklin on the bottom. Someone told me they were probably from a hotel in Philly. My Mom a hoarder would take anything people would give her. And people.gave my mom crap and told her it was worth something and was not. So my question is can I tarnex these pieces without ruining there being able to be used again as creamers?

Does anyone know what a small 6 point star next to 14k means on a ruby ring? My parents are moving and giving me a ton of stuff from our family, along with a ruby ring (actually they didn’t want to give me the ring but I am having it 🤣) I cannot figure out what this small 6 point star is. Almost looks more like a * mark but with 6 points. So weird
I can help, but need to see it to verify what you really have, to verify the marks since it seems that you are not sure of them and to verify the mark is not forged. Experts don't only rely on marks because they can be easily forged. I've seen many forged marks. Can you send me pics using my website?

@@DrLoriV I've seen a few. I've had a little circuit I ran with 3 Goodwills, 2 local charity shops, and a 3rd independent for years. Last week, the private shops jumped way up. The "junkiest", most fun one now has a man with a smartphone who thinks he's an appraiser. I asked how much a large, old chalkware (think that's the right word for plaster) with decal vase was. He tapped it and declared it fine porcelain and wanted $25. The sad thing is they don't realize that if they raise their prices too much, people who need to buy used clothing can't afford it and people who want to resell will stop shopping their either. I've shopped online estate sales, but I'm going to start hoofing it to yard sales and estate sales again. (Please don't tell me I'm wrong about the chalkware! :-)
@@jebsmith323 Don't get discourage! There is still a lot that is overlooked. And you can always negotiate. I'd have to see the chalkware to determine if you got a bargain.
