there is something so pleasurable about listening to an expert discuss their field of knowledge...I've been impressed watching all these videos, but when Dr. Lori looked at those tiny pictures & identified the different army uniforms for different wars immediately, and also demonstrated that she can tell different decades of 19th century fashion apart just looking at a tiny picture of a coat, that just blew me away, that's so cool

That renaissance revival cameo demi parure and the carved coral set is INSANE. Like in what world would that ever be worth only 10 bucks even if it were acrylic cameos and vermeil or gold filled or gold rolled or jewelers bronze... ITS STILL an intensely beautiful and ornate design with a fitted case thats worthy literally of empress josephine so what the actual hell...

The first cameo set price made my jaws drop. But hey, if you don’t know, you just don’t know.
I'd say you have to be a particular kind of stupid not to know that was special lol. It had a damn antique fitted case for it that likely had a royal warrant lol it probably literally said something like By Appointment to HM King Victor Emanuelle of Italy or some such tosh. The set is worthy of Empress Josephine herself, thats probably the most insane and frustrating thing I've ever seen. If I found that for 10 bucks, id throw them a 20 and run like hell. lol

Dr. Lori, your videos have prompted me to get out there and start my own business which should be going by the end of March. Im going to have my own Little Junque Shoppe in my garage! I love treasure hunting and have been sick and disabled since 2013 and I think this is something I can do when I am able to be up and around. Hello Dr. Lori. I hope you are doing well during this corona time. I really miss hunting for treasures. I look for genuine pearl jewelry and wear pearls almost everyday. I noticed that you like pearls, too, ....good taste! When I was sorting my mom's estate, my sister in law wanted my mom's wedding pearls, a gift from my dad in 1958. I willingly gave them to her, but instantly regretted it. I am my mom's only daughter. My husband bought me a nice new strand of pearls to ease my pain. Hee. Since then, in the past 2.5 years, I have thrifted so many nice pearl pieces, maybe 200 items.!!! I keep them all for myself. Real pearl jewelry is easy to find. I think few people consider pearls to be in vogue...their loss, my gain. I LOVE PEARLS. I would be ever so grateful if you would talk in depth about pearls. Do you think my mom's pearls were wild? I hope they were cheap. I'm bad.

I look for markings or signatures but alot of costume jewelry are not marked. I’ve been trying to find the exat area on your website to read about the different types of precious metals and jewelry stones. Can you please guide me on where to look on your website? oh I love cameo and when I saw the Italian carved cameos I'm like Oh my goodness the fact that the person that got them got them from a garage sale for $10 40 years ago I want to start looking as soon as this coronavirus goes away and try to go find me some cameos because first of all that person that had the set of actual carved cameos real cameos are carved from actual shells and stuff sometimes actually carved into jewels not very often though but sometime a lot of times you'll find either like resin or the fake or costume type of Cameo jewelry which you can easily find like at a Walmart or something like that when they sell it but oh my goodness real Cameo jewelry he's actually very expensive this lady better not sell her cameos this is one of those pieces that you want to have two handed down through the family because first of all when it's made out of real shells or real jewels and not something artificial it is even more valuable you can compare the costume or the fake or the resident type and compare the quality of the real Cameo versus the costume and you can see that it's more expensive because the process in which it was made and it comes from sometimes yes given shell are when it comes to cameos similar to diamonds or precious gems considered valuable so when you run across in garage sales and thrift stores and yard sales that all these other places pay attention to what they have it doesn't just have to be pottery that can be particularly viable if you know what you're looking for your realized that you found something that is really valuable like in the case of this woman that 40 years ago stumbled upon this set of Cameo jewelry she bought it for $10 it's actually at retail price going to be way beyond that real shell or gem cameos are going to be Beyond that price going to be up like above way above 100 depending on how well it was taken care of and how old it is and what it's made out of and I betcha if it started Maker's Mark that also makes the piece of jewelry even more valuable cuz even today with jewelry that is known for being expensive if it's got a maker's mark on it then yeah is going to show when it comes to the possible if not retail price than when it comes up to potentially auction price what is actually worth I am a Cameo Lover but I seen one too many legit cameos and know that they are expensive you can't get a actual real Cameo that's made with either she'll or gem for $10 but you probably could get a fake or resin or costume Cameo for possibly $10 depending on what it is I seen like fake costume and these are like earrings along with a bunch of other different types of earrings that are different and I can tell they're fake in the costume but they are styled like like a cameo but they're most likely fake and there costume how do I know because with out tax it is $4 and something change and I'm not sure what it is made out of but it could be resin it could be plastic when the fates costume type cameos are made with cheaper material usually if you compare it to a actual real Cameo with you know real shell or real gem even someone who is a expert in jewelry can tell the difference that there's an obvious difference and the best way to know if what you have with your jewelry if they have real gems or not is to find out to go to the kind of people that know about these things like to know how much is actually worth and once you realize that is actually a lot more expensive than you originally might have thought then you might want to realize that this oughta be a family heirloom see if I had something like those cameos that is actually really expensive I would keep them in the family and treasure them because to me they are priceless and it wouldn't hurt to put a note for future family members letting them know how the piece of family treasure was acquired so they know how precious it is and not to sell it because Heaven's what if it has been in the family for so many multiple generations going no telling how far back what if it's actually a true Priceless family heirloom and well it's a true historical family heirloom that should never be sold what if it so significant like that so honestly even though I wish I was that lady that 40 years ago had bought this for $10 I'm not going to make somebody do something ridiculous besides she's probably given from the back round and she probably live in Nova Scotia or Oak Island or somewhere that's just my guess of where this show is taking place anyway this lady that is appraising the items that the people have bought for her to look at the Italian carved cameos and yeah they're worth more than $10 that she originally bought 40 years ago so yeah lady got a bargain normally you pay a lot more and just $10 especially these days the low quality ones are probably from the $100 if you're actually buying the actual cameos that are real now don't get me started on the ones that go all the way up to the highest that they can go we can go way up there I'm not no jewelry experts but I understand well enough about cameos that's a really lowest quality can go all the way down to like a hundred but the highest depending on when it was made what it's made out of and all that how long ago it was made even and there's a lot of important things that you need to make sure when you look at the older cameos especially when they're the real you specially need to make sure that you take care of them because just like how no like if you were to wear like like in a wedding or something where you actually wouldn't to wear like costume jewelry you'd want to wear actual precious jewels and things that are not what you'd want to wear everyday because like costume jewelry you know it is okay to wear on names that are you know that you go back everyday you know kind of thing not something that like for special occasion that's the difference with something like with actual jewelry now for those who have actual diamonds in their wedding rings I'm matching you make yourself extra nervous given that you love your ring very very much and the fact that diamonds are considered a very precious gem I wouldn't blame you now if it's Crystal and your fiancee says it's Diamond that's one thing trust me that actually happened to me that actually freaking stink because I thought that it was a legit diamond so I learned from then on to know the difference of what different gems are and what is fake and what isn't and how to spot a crystal how to spot a diamond to know the difference also he said that the band on the ring was actually gold it wasn't it's was pleated gold it wasn't real it was a fake even though he tried he didn't have a very good eye for finding real jewelry I'm not shaming him I'm just warning other people to watch out for the fake not real type more of costume like jewelry because at the time I was upset but I was angry with him I had high expectations that he would get me a pretty sweet ring but you know he just couldn't spot the fact that it was fake so just fair warning for others anyways have a blessed day.💎
