    You have THE best review on this line!!! I was waiting for yours because you are always so in-depth when it comes to ingredients and exactly how they benefit our hair ♥️ thank you so much for this ♥️ I personally love fragrance in my products but sometimes the fragrances can clash !! So if I’m using the strength recipe line from them , or the moisture line, which I prefer those smells over the scalp recipe line then this can be a substitute for my weightless air dry cream!!
    I think it would be a really interesting video for you to compare these products with the other products that they have like the ones that I mentioned. I literally bought all of my Curlsmith because of you 😂so if this new leave in cream can give me the same results as the weightless air dry cream that would be amazing because that smell I can’t stand it but I love the results!

    For me one of my favorite things about curlsmith IS their fragrance! Anytime I use their products (especially the strength recipe line) people ask me what perfume I'm wearing. If I used these products I would probably still use their oil just for the scent!

    I am so excited to hear Curlsmith has come out with a fragrance-free line. I had to donate more than $120 worth of their products because I got hives and contact dermatitis with their product line. I liked the smell and loved how my hair responded but I had to stop using them. Now, thanks to you Gena Marie, I discovered the Tre Luxe line which I love love love! I may (not sure yet because I thought I found hair nirvana with TreLuxe) try these. Yet TBD😉

    Love the Shine Gel too! I got very similar results to Gena. I think I even got to day 5! I have used it both as a single styler, as well as the finisher over a light hold gel. I typically don't use leave ins or creams because they weigh down my hair. I also got that "producty" feel on day 4 but it was totally worth it because my hair looked better with this gel than almost any other gel! I didn't even need to clarify the next time. I just used my bounce curl shampoo which is a "light" clarifier.

    Hi Gena, great information as always. I’m one of those that can’t tolerate scents, as they trigger migraines. You are absolutely correct there are very few lines in curly hair products that are unscented. I can’t tell you how many products and money, I have thrown away because the “aromas” linger on your hair.
    Few lines that do carry unscented:
    Luvs - My current favorites but the gel is a “light hold”
    Jessica’s Curls ( smells like plastic) but doesn’t linger. But the gel feels like too much product”y”.
    Bounce Curl - Has a scent but it’s a “natural herb like “ and does not trigger migraines.
    I have low porosity (protein sensitive)type 2C/2b curls and I get product build-up easily. So I can’t use Jessica’s Curls or Bounce Curl all the time, as my hair gets weight down and protein overload. Have alternate those two brands. Once I finished them, I will not be repurchasing.
    On a previous video (Top 5) you recommended Curls smith Jelly & Ouida gel. I went ahead and ordered them. They arrived 2 days ago and I tried them yesterday. Omg!!! You’re so right. They work amazingly. The scent disappeared once my hair dried. I also went ahead and ordered the Shark hair dryer on your recommended video. Yesterday, I used all 3 products. I can honestly say, for the first time in my life, I Love my curls! Thank you😁
    I will be placing an order for the Curlsmith’s Fragrance free line.
    Again, thank you for all the great reviews, your time & effort. It is Extremely appreciated 💕
    Liz

  • @lorainemcgillivray77
    @lorainemcgillivray77 Před 2 lety +1

    Hi Gena as someone with eczema on the scalp fragrance is a complicated issue. Shampoo and/or conditioner used on the scalp is the main problem area for fragrance for me. Most fragrance free shampoos are really not suitable for very course/curly hair and tend to be too stripping. I get round that by using baby shampoos from cantu or shea moisture - both have fragrance but much less than the standard versions. Another way is to only use the FF shampoo on the scalp as a clarifying shampoo (they are sulphate free). Co washing with a fragrance free conditioner is good for when my scalp is extra dry or problematic. I do tend to be able to use styling products with fragrance if I avoid the scalp area and then keep the wet hair off my skin. I like some of the no added fragrance jessiecurl line and having an alternative will be a good thing. I like the shampoo, conditioner and deep conditioner, but their styling products don't work that great for my hair and climate - they cause a lot of flash drying on me. I will try some of this line and see how it works for me. i hope they introduce some minis in a trial/travel size - this is always a really good way to try products for really sensitive skin/scalp. Best wishes.

    Hi, thanks for this very informative video. I never used curl smith before but ordered my first products because they’re “fragrance free”. I have high hopes as my mother is badly allergic to all smells and since that I couldn’t use styling foam anymore and my hair is mostly just frizzy looking. It’s not as bad because I only have wavy curls - I would say I am a 2b type. But now I have a question: when I used too much product in the past of styling foam my hair was instantly super tacky etc. When you coat each strand with this much product doesn’t it do the same then? I am wondering if i really would like to use this method, but perhaps these products are totally different formulated than your typical garnier or L’Oréal styling foam? Thanks in advance for your response. 😊

    I’m always so tempted to try Curlsmith products because they sound great, but I have to remember that they rarely work for me. I have fine, high porosity, low density hair so I need a decent amount of protein in my styling products. And Curlsmith is so focused on moisture…even their “protein” line has minimal protein in it and leaves my hair too fluffy and soft.
    I wish more brands would focus on products that contain both moisture and protein and not sway so heavily one direction or the other. Inahsi has been my go to brand for the past year because of this. And their new hard hold gel has been great! But it’s always tempting to try something new…until I read all the ingredients.
    Thanks for another great video!

My hair has never behaved better even in this very cold dry winter! This post now makes me rethink my inclination to try the Curlsmith ff line. Why should I since I am getting such good results with Tre Luxe? My biggest problem now is what to do with my drawer full of other brands...most of them practically full. I think our local women's shelter might accept them even though they are opened.

They have 5 hair care products in their line and so far I have used 4 of them and love how my hair is responding. I have very fine, low density hair. My porosity- not sure I know my hair dries out and gets frizzy while I am looking at it😊. I also don't think their products are super costly. I read that they sometimes have sales at Walgreen's. I think there is one mow until Jan 22 30% off. I bought mine online and got the Moisture bundle with a decent discount using Genamarie15 code. (She has a video- double check my info)

      @Rachelsjourney Před 2 lety

      @@helenl7967 I have tried the entire Treluxe line and really like how they work for my hair, but there is something in them that makes my scalp itch. And I cannot figure out what ingredient is doing that because nothing stands out as "problematic". I was so bummed, because they really felt good in my hair and gave me good results. And many people seem to get good results - so I think they are a great option for most people.

A coworker of mine uses the moisture line and I get so many comments from patients (we're nurses) saying she wears to much perfume. It's not perfume it's her hair! It's just over the top amount of scent and it smells like a cheap teenager body spray or children's shampoo. They could cut it down by 80% and it would be a more normal amount of scent for hair products. I could not use their scented products at all, one use and i was in pain all over my scalp and neck.

    I used to have really thick hair that everyone used to compliment but recently I have lost a great portion of it. I have gotten tests done to see if it was from a medical issue but the results always came back as normal. I assumed that it came from stress. I usually split my hair down the middle as well and used to be able to flip it but now there are bald spots that I am embarrassed by. Since I lost a lot of hair my split down the middle is quite bold. I began to take Nutrafol recently and I’m hoping it works. I have a hair appointment coming up and I want to do something different to change up my hair and make it fuller. There are no fragrance ingredients and I don't smell any lemon or jasmine. They are dermatologically tested and rated safe for sensitive skin. There is a smell to the Shine Jelly as I mentioned in text towards the end of the video, however Curlsmith said that it's due to the styling agents and assured me that there are no added fragrances.

    I don't mind a very subtle fragrance, but CS fragrance is so extreme. No need for that. They loose business with the overpowering smells.

      It really is an extreme amount of scent. I don't know why they do that it's really off putting.
