There are moments where we are likely to be fully immersed and less likely to get distracted. E.g- watching the sunset, talking to a friend or loved one. However, in real life, this is not a usual scenario. A lot of times you are stressed and distracted. We are not fully into the moment. E.g- when you are eating, you are also thinking about your work that needs to be completed. You are likely to be preoccupied with a lot of issues or judging yourself or others. This is our ordinary mind and it is not mindful. Our stressful lives lead to these kinds of experiences.
Mindfulness practice not just helps you enjoy the moment but also helps you to be in the moment fully, embrace all your experiences including suffering non-judgmentally.
We see that mindfulness practices can be really useful. You can adapt it in general practice. Also useful for people with disorders like depression, anxiety, addiction
