I’m sorry, Sean didn’t “pave the way” for Gavin Harrison. Gavin started playing professionally in 1979 and was already touring with Iggy Pop back in 1986. Then Lisa Stansfield, then Level 42 and so on. I first heard his playing in 1987 when he was in a group called Dizrhythmia with Jakko Jakszyk, Danny Thompson & Richard Barbieri, if memory serves. Gavin was eight years older than Sean, so again, it’s not accurate that Sean “paved the way” for him. If anything, it was likely the other way around. Gavin’s stylistic influences were Jeff Porcaro, Bill Bruford, Vinnie Colaiuta, Gary Husband, Steve Gadd and Steve Jansen. Sean was a tremendous and innovative player. A great guy, and a great musician in general. His accurate credits and Cynic’s influence are impressive enough on their own. So let’s be accurate about both Sean and Gavin.
The thing with Sean reinart is he influenced a ton of people with his playing in death and more so in cynic back In the 90s. I don’t think we’d have as much fusion/jazz influenced drumming in metal if it weren’t for him and cynic
The loss of Sean and Neil in the same month is just ridiculous. Neil was bad enough, but the guy from Cynic was a monumental influence on my musical development. They both were, of course, but Cynic was truly disturbing to hear back in 93.
Sean did play on the Death album Human. Sean has stated that when Human was veing recorded Sean was listening to Chick Corea, Mahavishnu Orchestra, etc.
the first thing I say to myself after two measures of Sean is "WHAT A GROOVY DRUMMER!!!" Like, it's almost like his top tier chops are the icing on the cake rather than the other way around. What a feel. Musicality incarnate. RIP, drum god
My own reaction to this track was live. Cynic was opening for Dream Theater and they played this album in it's entirety. I was so blown away, these drum patterns were playing in my head on my way back home even after being exposed to a full Dream Theater set. I got their album the next day.
Also that free flowing guitar solo in this song... Wow... Dream Theater opening acts... Honestly I only recall two of them. One was Vanden Plas in mid 90ies, another was Riverside in mid 00s.
Sean played on the Human album from Death, he set the bar for technical drums on that album for a long time. Gene H was good but never got to his level and feel.
Human is by far my favorite Death album. Sean and Paul pushed Chuck to look at music a totally different way, and it really helped Death grow in so many new directions. Individual Thought Patterns, Symbolic, and Sound of Perseverance wouldn't have been nearly as good as they were if he hadn't worked with Paul and Sean for Human.
Sean's drumming is just flawless on this album. I can listen to bass & drums tracks all day long. Gene has a good combination of finesse and strength but Sean's creativity is just second to none.

Sean did play on the Death album "Human" (which is an excellent extreme metal album) but he's probably best known as the drummer for Cynic (which are the band that recorded the song in this video). The first Cynic album was revolutionary and people were not ready for it when it came out in 1993. However, it slowly gained traction and 15 years later the band reunited to record a follow-up.

This was my request garrett. Next guy you need to review is Flo Mournier from Cryptopsy
THE FUCK?!?! That was mad!! Rest In Metal Sean 😭🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
Came to a more recent video to suggest you do Architects 'Naysayer' drum play through, the drumming on that song is so good
RIP to one of the greatest ever. Some of the most phenomenal drum tracks laid down on Deaths Human album. And the tracks he laid down of Cynics “Textures”
Incredible
Sean is one of the best drummers in metal.
i would like to see some more periphery reacts xD
Cool that you finally heard him. Try Death lack Of Comprehension for Sean when he's doing psycho fast with a bit of fusion. Anything off of Cynic - Focus is absolutely killer.
Love Sean Reinert, his playing on Death's "Human" record is amazing. Also, I love that you made that specific Jim Cornette reference, I'm also a wrestling nerd lol.
Sean Reinert is such a stud on the kit!
Also, please react to Maciej 'Darkside' Kowalski from Mgła. There's a good video from the Brutal Assault Festival 2019 of his playing.
Been waiting for this one, thanks! You seemed kinda tired in this video, take care of yourself.
Just found this channel this week. My new favorite! Nathan Bulla from Auruas - any song. You'll love him.
please React to JP Gaster from Clutch... he combines oldschool Rock n roll with Jazz, Bluess, Fusion and makes it hella groovy... please give it a go :)
TrommelmonsterBVB09 yes!!!
In terms of musicality, Sean was simply on another level. It's a real shame he didn't record on more albums.
YESS!!
Sean definetly has a LOT of things to listen and to be blown away, this is just the little tiny tip of the iceberg, believe me
Ulcerate - Dead Oceans (live playthrough from Relapse Records)
Gonna keep at it til it happens 😂
