  • The 2022 Lexus IS 350 F Sport finds itself in a highly contested market, with rivals like the Infiniti Q50, Volvo S60, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Genesis G70, and Acura TLX. What the Lexus IS 350 provides is great comfort, good driving dynamics, and overall refinement that still makes this car perfect for older buyers. So is the 2022 Lexus IS 350 F Sport still a great car in this segment? Let's find out!
    Huge thank you to Herb Chambers Lexus of Sharon for providing the the IS 350 F Sport for this review.

    I don't really care that this car is probably almost 2 seconds slower in the 0-60 than its German competitors or its interior looks "dated". It's the best looking car in this segment and the performance is good enough for me as a family man with no desires to drive like an absolute lunatic. You also never have to worry about this thing breaking down. Just do basic maintenance and change the oil and it will go as long as you will or longer.

      you got it, I have a 14 350f sport shes got 130k miles and shes driven hard everyday no abuse just driven and I would have no problem doing a cross country trip. Now my buddys 17 3series has 85k miles and hes spent about $2500 in just the past year with hoses cracking and going bad. I personally think the 3is fsport front bumper looks better but then again IM bias.

    Lexus knows their buyer. My guess a lot of the people in here hating for "lack of tech" or being "outdated" are young. Yeah, Lexus ain't for you, bud. It's for the 30+ crowd who value understated luxury, comfort and reliability - they aren't checking 0-60 times on comparable cars before they buy. Lexus is more upscale, handsome, and reliable - most buyers don't give a shit about wireless phone charging - they care about driving something comfortable that isn't in for repairs on a monthly basis. Lexus' are built like fucking tanks - go get 2-300k out of your BMW or Mercedes. Please.

    This car is gorgeous for sure, but there are too many excuses being made here. There is no "excessive" technology in the German cars in this segment, and the Lexus is cheaper because you're getting less, that doesn't make it a bargain. This is a wonderfully reliable, gorgeous car for sure, but it's terrible outdated, outgunned and just doesn't measure up overall. This is NOT some strategic decision, it's the result of Toyota being Toyota - slow to adopt new tech and slow to update their cars. Lexus buyers would love a newer car that is reliable, unless someone is saying that Lexus can't do truly new and deliver reliability in the same vehicle?

    • @tv321123
      @tv321123 Před 2 lety +7

      The IS being old school is what makes it special these days. There is no NA competitor in it's class. Sure Turbos are faster. But less reliable, and lacking the instant throttle response and soul of the NA. The IS is the closest new car you can buy to a E46, A car that is selling at amazingly inflated prices today because people love the way they drive. Not to mention, a used IS goes for around 30% more than a compatible Audi, BMW, or MB due to the build quality and reliability. Cheaper to buy, and holds it's value better.

    • @MercOne
      @MercOne Před 2 lety

      @@tv321123 Old school is an excuse for just being outdated. When Lexus can make a modern car with the same reliability, it will be far more impressive. Making a car with the same engine from 2006 reliable is not impressive. It’s expected. The reliability factor has nothing to do with the outdated interior that lacks the features of a loaded Camry. You mean to mean to tell me not having wireless charging makes the car more reliable? Instant throttle response but slower overall? Yeah that says performance. It’s a nice car the but the logic and excuses made for it are sheer BS. The car is outdated because Toyota is slow, not because of some cool factor or deliberate effort to be different from the competition.

      I actually really like BMW's, but honestly the BMW 330 and the IS350 both max out at about 55k, have a 5.6-5.7 0-60mph, have a touch screen infotainment, have backup/surround view cameras, memory seats, pretty equivalent driving safety features, but the IS350 has heated/vent while 330 only has heated. The BMW 330 completely outclasses this in fuel efficiency though. Am I missing something here? and with the lower cost to maintain the IS 350 over the BMW 330, (I won't say reliability because it does seem that BMW's can be pretty reliable but cost more and require more attention to keep up.) What does Lexus really need to be excused for? Maybe a subjectively "dated looking interior"? All interiors look old after a few years, and the IS350 interior still looks good to me because really... looks and layout are subjective... and I hate not having physical buttons personally. I'm honestly confused with all the Lexus hate. Can't we just be happy that there are all these manufacturers offering different strokes for different folks?

    • @MercOne
      @MercOne Před 2 lety

      @@Renault_1 There is no hate. I own an IS, and the problem is that’s there is no reason for me to upgrade. This car has 3.5L V6 and it gets matched by a 4-cylinder? Smoked by ALL the 6-cylinders in the class. It doesn’t have the same features as a loaded Camry. It’s basically the same car from 2006. Lexus backup camera is junk by comparison. They’re putting a V6 against the 4-cylinder class because they can’t compete on performance. Nothing wrong with different strokes for different folks but call it what it is, outclassed and outdated. It doesn’t remotely drive as good as the BMW or others in the class either. The interior is the same as years ago with new features beyond the touch screen.
