I'll stay with the stock ZR2. The extra cost doesn't give me the performance in a relationship way...
That’s a nice truck…but $200-220K is a lot of money for basically a truck that’s comparable to a loaded Raptor.
For that amount of money, Chevy fans could get a ZR2 AND a C8 Corvette, Dodge fans could get a TRX AND a Hellcat, and Ford fans could get a Raptor AND a GT 500. I guess it’s a situation of economy of scale. I wish them luck…it will be a tough sell!
He said $200k without the supercharger 😅😅😅😅
@@5eekin9datruth Do you know what kind of Gen 1 or Gen 2 raptor with a whipple supercharger in the gen1, prerunner you could build with $200K that chevy is only run 11-12 inchs of travel lol. Stock Gen is 11. Pass lol.
@@daleyfamily2179 I would pass also
I WOULD RATHER SPEND THAT MONEY ON A TRUCK FROM KIBBETECH
Not comparable in my opinion have you seen a raptor go off road 😂😂😂 they get destroyed bud this thing holds up that’s what the money is for a true off road truck which the raptor is not!!
It kills me (just the Shelby F150 or the mammoth TRX) that these aftermarket companies go through all the R&D to build something that gets maybe 1-2 seconds quicker and then the price tag that comes with these things… my god and no thank you! Great video as always boys!! Keep up the incredible work!
200k only 650hp? I'd rather buy from Hennessey Performance but honestly I'd just buy a stock ZR2 and turbo it.
Twins!
Depends on state of tune. Can probably make upwards of 750 horsepower
200k is more than just the performance. The suspension is better the wide body is bulletproof. And also that is all hand done in a shop in Michigan. Carbon Kevlar panels aren’t cheap or easy to fabricate.
If strictly talking HP you could do 650 NA under 4k. That extra dough goes to a lot of other stuff thats certainly not cheap.
@@unlucky6113Pax Power makes the same truck for 1/2 the price
So it's ok, but it's not close to the TRX, which let's face set the new speed and HP standard. Bring it up 50 to 60 HP, make it a dual exhaust. Then you have something. It just didn't pull far enough from the ZR2 to make sense to me. Especially when it has 200 more HP
The tires certainly doesn't help.
Between high elevation and an extra 230 hp that race should not be that close. But I suppose those 37 inch tires rob a bunch of power.
37s, even very light ones like on the raptor, really slow things down. The 37s on this truck are not light
Looks like a very nice package.
@@ImOldGregg he did say they estimated 650 HP. But I don't think it has anywhere close to that, if so it should've walked away from the stock truck.
200 Hp more can be misleading… that would mean it’s peak HP is 200 higher. But what matters is how the power is applied across the entire power curve.
At $200K it should be setting world records. For that kind of money I can have a TRX, a Hellcat, and keep the change.
Did they not mention the gearing? Because if the supercharged chevy had 3.31 or something stupid it would make sence with the big tires why it was so slow, but if it had 4.10s like the raptor, 600hp is not even close, it should have been taking a nap at the end of the race waiting for the naturally aspirated Chevy to get there.
we just took a ZR2 on MSV and Coney Flats, it did waaay better than I was expecting. I was impressed!
The DSSV’s are very good
And the factory ZR2 looks so much better without the ugly wide body kit.
Always thought the ZR2 should come with a wide body from factory but you're right here....this one looks kinda awkward for some reason
@@kethelowazah2393 it is excessively wide, I think that’s why. The raptor doesn’t have that problem, even though it’s wider than a regular F150.
the HP claim is way off. that drag race was way too close for a 225hp difference. unless they didnt regear the diffs for the 37s.
The huge tires slow the vehicle down a lot. They make the gearing higher and they also add unsprung and rotating mass which needs to be rotationally accelerated. The outcome of the race is logical.
@@SuzukiKid400 no, it's not. A TRX with 702hp, 50 less then advertised, with 37s and 500lbs heavier destroyed the stock Silverado 6.2... destroyed....
TFL did a race with all the trucks a few months back. So something doesn't add up. At a 200k price tag i would want to destroy a stock Silverado also, not just walk past it. So again, the HP claim is way off.
My 2019 4Runner TRD Off Road has a Magnuson Supercharger!!!.... I know they do a lot of Toyotas, but had no idea they worked with other companies too!!..... Even without their logo, you can always tell a Magnuson sc by how well they manage to look so factory and clean looking, blending in very well.... Now I'm excited to know they work with others!
I'd love to see them do a Colorado ZR2 widebody!
Red trucks nice. But I'm goin with Beige ZR2!! Not really sure if I like the wide body kit on the Red truck.
$220,000 for truck seen? Thats ridiculous
And that’s why chevy doesn’t do a supercharger from the factory. For most people being a truck length faster in the quarter mile doesn’t matter for the extra 10k the supercharger cost worst MPG and less reliably. Chevy needs to offer 4.10 gears. that would probably knock two seconds off the 0 to 60 time
this channel seems to be geared towards city slicker pavement pounders drag racing trucks, oh look how fast my electric vehicle...oh look how fast, etc etc...getting a bit old and they never keep anything long term flippers
Chevy just can’t compete, their flagship engine gets dragged by a little Ford 2.7
Then the driveshaft will fail because it cannot handle the stress
I'd love a truck like this. 17.5" of rear travel? Yes please! The wide body kit is awesome and functional. Bronco Raptor engineers need to look at these fenders. Nicely done. I'll never afford one tho.
Can you guys do a long term mid size truck as well? I know you've done plenty of test reviews on them but I'd like to see how they hold up for a year of tests. Not everyone wants a full sized or spending 60k+
A supercharger needs boost to create power, maybe they should turn that turd up a few notches
One of the best videos!!!. May you consider do more technical inteviews?
Why so slow for 650 hp? Doesn't the raptor do better 0-60? And it's nowhere near as quick as the trx
Agreed, seems like an amateur tune setup or something. How do you have a 200+ HP advantage and running with a blower at altitude, and still barely beat a N/A?
I'm assuming its due to the stock gearing which is 3.23. Absolutely horrible for the 37's even with a 10 speed. Should be at minimum 4.10 gearing...
@@oneqwickbird 4.56
No mention of gear ratio change. Go from a 33 to a 37 and keeping the 3.23 gears would make it sluggish out of the hole. So not surprised by lack of performance
I will keep my 20 Trail Boss with the 6.2
HAVE A GOOD DAY EVERYONE.. HAPPY TUESDAY..
This man did a more spectacular and beautiful pick Chevy Silverado which looks more strong and beautiful than 2022 Raptor F-150 and Tundra desert offroad at the same time. I Thank you him and you by doing this important video. Thank you. Dr. Luis Amador
I like how seamless the winch integrates into the bumper
Saw that beast build at my local performance shop that was courtesy storing it in Arizona instead of delivering it back to Michigan before another auto event on the West Coast. Gorgeous truck and what GM should have done in the first place.
For as loud as it is, its not very fast.
It reminds me of all the hillbilies around here with their clapped out 1990's chevy's that make a ton of noise but still take 20 minutes to get to 60 mph.
My 2016 Silverado WT Custom 4x4 5.3L has a cold air intake and Diablew tune to ecu and tcu. I'd bet it has similar times to the ZR2, and gets me 16 city 20 hwy. Z71 and ZR2 packages are worth it, but supercharger and other bells and whistles are not. Complete waste of money for the average person.
Yeah not impressed
We know Andre can drive...that being said I don't know if it's a tuning issue or what, but even with the bigger tires and money put into it that thing should be much quicker. Even at the higher elevation.
Maybe I missed it, but what gearing does it have for the 37's? Or did they leave stock gearing? which wouldn't make sense.
Beautiful truck, but I imagine, for the price, I doubt I would beat it up off-roading like I'd want to. Lol!
over 200k? 🤣 I'll keep my Raptor.
I do love the front bumper setup though
With that performance , i’am not sure it compete with top trucks , plus. That supercharger didnot add much performance. I agree with others comments that for the 200k i would get a better faster truck
I just got my super charger going for TCM tuning next week
Holy smokes, that truck would get spanked bad by a stock TRX 😬. Thanks for the video gents 🤝.
The red one vs Dodge TRX?!
Stock gearing and cooling?
ZR2 6.2 w/ bolt ons and a tune is you would find mine! I almost bought the zr2 Colorado in 2019/2020, sure glad I didn't
The amount of time and money put into that truck and it barely beats the stock one lol
$225000 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA are you serious? Lol
I didn't know I needed one of these. Can't afford it but I need it.
After watching the drag race I'm not sure I need the 650 hp version.
An Ecm release and a pedal box would have that truck bucking like a wild Stallion!
The Price is for the man hours worked on the truck, not the parts. Holy.
The big tires kill ETs, they rob the rear wheels of so much power.
That's a really nice truck, but when both a fully loaded Raptor or TRX is half the price, and just as daily drivable, That is going to be a really hard sell.
Build your own with less than 30k
Didnt the ford ranger run that 0-60 at elevation??
TFL should do a side by side comparison of the Chevy XT1 and the stage 3 Chevy Jackal. Who's with me???
Also, 3.31's and a big tire are gonna kill that performance.
what camber locks are those?
I don't think that truck is better than the Raptor or TRX in definitely Networth price
What was the 1/4mile time of the ZR2?
The TRX & Raptor both would walk all over that truck, & I really didn't see that big of a difference between the modified & stock version, I'd actually rather have the stock truck, probably a much better resale value.
Hummer H3 for off roading/ overland...any good? What say you?
Who can afford something like that right now. Just go with the stock ZR2.
At this point, who can afford that even? Just go with a 20yo truck, a crate motor, and do it up however you want... You'd still come out way cheaper than a ZR2
@@blaqmagik8750 totally agree
$200,000.00 is a lot of money but, if you really want to go fast and love off-roading,and can afford it, that’s the way to go.
Great engineering. Wow! That price is a no. TRX or Raptor for me.
I’d like to see this and a new Raptor race
@+①⑦②⑦③⑤⓪②④④②WhatsApp soooo what is this
I know this race seemed really close but that goes to show what 37” will do while not re gearing.. gm always has had really low numeric gears like 3.21:1 gears
The raptor 37 eats this "650 hp" Silverado 200k turd. Raptor 37 does 0-50 in 5.2. I am a Chevy guy, but this truck is a joke for that kind of money.
That’s $222,000 ? WHAT ? WOW, that’s unbelievably ridiculous.
Stock zr2 is a nice daily. Good luxury; looks nice; decent power for 65-70k
Has the TRX have different internals than a naturally aspirated 6.2 l?
I think the 1000hp RAM by Hennessey Performance over at Sealy TX doesn’t cost that much.
As a 6.2l Trail boss owner. Every single truck Ford has to offer outperforms the GM 6.2. I should’ve done more research before purchasing my new truck but now I’m stuck with this turd. GM really needs to step up their game.
My Trail Boss had lifter issues at 3k miles, had them replaced and then the same issue happened at 6k miles. I worked with the dealer to buy the truck back. I bought a Ford F150 Tremor and it is amazing! Best of luck with your truck.
@@Xavier1320 I’m just hoping the lifters go out so I can get rid of this thing sooner. I was eyeing a 401A Tremor and honestly I’ll make the switch whenever the time comes. But for now the Chevy will have to get the job done. Good luck with your rig as well.
Cha Ching $$$$$$$$$$ No thanks. If I am going to throw down that kind of cheese I would start with a different brand. And it would be built with a practical design that would allow it to run everywhere I go, not places I don't. ;)
One can tell almost every commenter has no idea what they’re looking at and what this thing is capable of at 100+ in the desert. They really need to enter this, a raptor and trx in a SCORE race and people can see where that extra 100k is going.
Like comparing a house cat with a lion
True, but most people that have these type of trucks aren't going flat out in the desert, and as the builder said, they wanted this to be refined. It is a very capable truck, but $200+K is a lot of money for what it is, and I suspect that a lot of that cost is due to their own R&D and inability to reduce costs due to low volume. One could argue that you could get a Raptor for $90K, drop $40-50k into it, and shred this truck with enough to spare to buy another car/truck/tires, etc.
Being that Brian has some parts on this from his company I'm sure they will.
The only off-road truck GM did right was the Colorado ZR2. Everything else is a miss
I was going to trade my Colo ZR2 for the full size. now I am just going to put the money into the long travel kit from GM into my Colo. the full size is too big for trails. the Colo is perfect.
@@13christbane I am more referring to GM not doing enough for their full-size versions. They literally threw a set of DSSV shocks and a unique bumper on a Trail Boss. There is so much more put into Colorado. You made the right decision 💯. Colorado ZR2 is superior off-road than Silverado ZR2.
I mean it still has front and rear selectable locker which is a big upgrade over the auto G80 in the Trail Boss. Not really sure what makes the Colorado ZR2 package that much more unique compared to the Silverado ZR2 recipe. Personally I think your view is skewed by the fact that there’s no “in between” trim on the Colorado. The Silverado ZR2 would seem more substantial to you if there was no Trail Boss Silverado and you would be going from packaged truck Silverado to the ZR2 like you’re going from the Z71 Colorado to the zR2 Colorado. Not sure what is really change about the Silverado ZR2 unless you were gonna go a different route and copy the Raptor or TRX formula.
@@joshtavenner3073 GM put a little more effort into Colorado ZR2. It has a wider track than standard, diesel option, rock rails as standard, better bumper cutout for approach angle. It just stands out more amongst other Colorado trims and the competition. Silverado ZR2 isn't any wider than standard, has the same block lift as Trailboss, no diesel, rock sliders are an option and not standard, can't put 35in tires on these trucks due to rubbing, looks the same as any other Silverado besides the front bumper..I mean other than the f/r e-lockers, it's nothing special.
kindly do a comparison between Silverado ZR2 and Ram power wagon
LSC's slapped that Magnuson on his wife's Escalade... Those things are fast! Definitely should give the TRX a run, especially if it's lighter.
Makes no sense that supercharger doesn’t make it hardly any faster than the stock truck!
Could build a baja truck with better components for way less. This truck doesn't even have ROPS.
Didn't beat the stock truck by enough to buy a supercharger and do the work myself, much less pay that much more for someone else to do the work. Thanks for saving me some money.
Those aftermarket supercharged packages like this one, Roush, etc. just never seem to make the real world power that factory supercharged vehicles do. Example, the TRX. I bet it'd smoke this supercharged ZR2 despite supposedly only making a little more HP.
Needs 4:10 gears, a smaller pulley and a price tag well equipped closer to $150k. I’m sure they’re trying to recoup all the development costs in 50-60 trucks and I just don’t see it happening.
Silverado es Silverado el poder américano haciendo historia ... Que bellezas de Camionetas
Not so sure about that suspension setup.
That’s a very small market at 200k. They prob won’t sell many lol
200k! oh my
My 2000 Z71 ext cab can beat those in the 1/4 mile. Long tube headers, off road y-pipe (catless), flowmaster 40 series dumped before axle, 4.10 gears, 3000 stall converter, cold air intake, and tuned with HP tuners. And yes, I'm also in the rocky mountains high altitude. That red truck really needs a high stall converter and it would rip.
It's too expensive to do what it is designed to do. Who can afford to take 200,000 dollars and go potentially destroy it?
It seems that supercharger needs to be better!!. Results were not that big to justify the RED Truck.
200k plus LMFAO!! Give me a f'n brake.
i see why they waited to say 200,000 till the end. As soon as they said the price i said ok signing out
stupidly over priced for minimal gains.
I think when it comes to these aftermarket version trucks they have the extra HP but I don't think they possess the right tunes to get what you want out of them all that extra HP I expected atleast 3-4 car lengths of distance by the end of the race
For what BlackLake states the HP, I find it puzzling that the TRX and the new Raptor accelerate to 60 in Less than half of the 7.6 seconds than Andre has quoted especially when it's weight is comparible to the Raptor. Some of these tuners HP ratings are really exaggerated?
@@paulmueller2545 they definitely are exaggerated but the raptor r is here and it is no slouch by any means but I think that ford should merge with Whipple and make a from factory 800hp f150 I still think the Whipple f150 will destroy the raptor r and for alot less money base model light weight f150 paired with a 3liter Whipple music to my ears 👂👂🤤🤤lol
As a Silverado die-hard.... This truck could be so much more! Resembles what's going on in this country. De-masculating the Silverado is not cool!
" looked at king and fox and our project didn't fit their business model." What?! How does king or fox not fit in to making an offroad/ baja beast truck? That makes no sense
We all know the Zr2 is one of the slowest trucks you've tested lately, and for only lose by a little against a "650 hp" truck, something is wrong.
That’s massively embarrassing. That’s a piece of junk right there. God that blew up in their faces lmao. Wouldn’t even beat a stock raptor, the raptor GAPPED the stock ZR2
I’ve done 0-60 in 8.1 in my stock 2500.
ford maverick hybrid 7.6 0 to 60 and that 200 hp 4 banger
Nice !
This was a fail all we wanted is to hear the supercharged engine from inside the cab!
I’d stick with stock ZR… and order a C8… or order Raptor 37…not worth that kinda money…
At $200,000 bruh you can pretty much buy a base Ram, Silverado, and f150 and probably still have a pretty penny left over
That's the difference in hearing zr2 has 410s the blower gm has 342s
How much for the body kit...thats all you need
A true truck everybody must have a chance to drive-in their lifetime
That Supercharged V8 Is Not As Quick As The TRX.
If only GM could build the mechanical portions of their vehicles to match the looks they would be a great manufacturer. As a former GM fan and owner of numerous models over a period of 30 yrs, I’ve paid for the right to say their reliability is horrible with repair costs to keep them running properly is an absolute nightmare. The misery GM put me through was beyond ridiculous. No longer the case today. My Family and I only buy Toyota’s and Honda’s and have had the best ownership experiences with them. Take note GM, stop building 💩.
Race starts at 3:38
