#Silverado #Colorado #ZR2 - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Even without watching all the way through I'm 99.9% certain that the smaller and lighter Colorado will be the better off-road truck. Plus you get the little diesel engine in them for good range and efficiency. Arguably the Colorado is the most Overlanding suitable truck on sale in the USA, on account of both size and the small diesel engine.
Same, I don't even need to watch. Full size trucks can never be the best off roader simply due to size and weight.
Colorado looks better too
jeep gladiator.
But the Silverado has a 6.2. Hands down superior.
@@jeffforbes70 this is why I said arguably, the Gladiator is hugely freaking capable off-road (which is less important for Overlanding generally, to that level anyway! Most people around the world do it on a vehicle like a HiLux which is to all intents and purposes equal to the Colorado capability wise) but less capable in terms of payload. The Gladiator is cooler in my eyes, but you could easily argue either way regarding which is best for Overlanding and it partly depends on your requirements.
I started watching this on my smart TV, and had to get on my phone so I could say that “prosthetic arm beige” is one of the funniest chirps I’ve ever heard. Good one, Tommy 😂😂
As a kid I always loved the jeeps and tacomas
When I got into my 20s and seen the first AEV BISON ZR2 and immediately fell in love. Now own a 22 ZR2 and couldn’t be happier
Yes indeed, why prosthetic arm beige? LOL! Also having worked for a mountain county government here in Colorado as a mechanic the Good Year Duratracks were absolutely impossible to keep from making insane amounts of road noise. It didn’t matter how attentive we were with rotating they were a nightmare on highway regarding noise. There’s much better tires out there.
ZR2 are capable for certain but, as with all trucks and especially 'specialty' trucks, flippin' expensive. That said, I would go with the Colorado for it's smaller footprint and less tech to deal with . . . and I'd have about 25k left over.
I don’t think you have to revamp a vehicle entirely - especially one that as well-sorted as the Colorado is. You can update the interior and improve the electronics package and keep the goodies that already work so well.
The zr2 colorado is really the best looking mid size I would just fix the interior.
Agreed! Great truck mechanically, just give it a makeover.
The ZR2 is going already?... I was here for every TRX and ZR2 videos, more than others.. When you guys bought the ZR2, Andre implied maybe putting sliders on it, so I thought you guys were going to mod it, or something and was looking forward to that!.... I wish you guys would buy a truck that you build up over time, from a cheap older rig, into a beast!.... That would be an excellent video series!
I hope you get some more fun capable interesting trucks!
They kept the Tundra longer so they could hate on the fact it didn't have tow hooks. Nah, I'm sure they had their reasons but it came and went like a firecracker...really fast then it was over
@@jayrichards3672 I think with the purchase of Tumbleweed Ranch they may not be able to hold such expensive trucks for such a long time until they pay it off.
They also said they were going to add the performance exhaust
@@dmegahan Ugh.... I'm tired of Tommy's Jeep as filler videos, because they have nothing else... They just got the ZR2 lol
i concur
Thank you for all the reviews on the new ZR2. After some deliberation I decided to pull the trigger on one. I had to drive 2.5 hours away to get away from the huge markups but man!!! So well worth it. I’ve owned it for about a month now and I have to say it is hands down the best GM truck I’ve owned and I’ve owned 6 others. The suspension and off road capability is like nothing they’ve done yet. Been waiting for this for a looong time from GM. Thank you Andre, Nathan and Roman for all the useful reviews and info.
Tommy is such a baby in this video
The landscape is so beautiful! since things are so expensive I had thought about the colorado zr2 as a hunting, camping truck. Please do more off road with the colorado!
13:40 Man so disappointed! Was hoping Dad would just be like “Watch and learn son!”
Agree that bigger tires from the factory are needed; especially for the Colorado. Fortunately, there are 1.25” front level spacers that don’t ruin the geometry of the DSSV shocks. Level kits runs about $200 & are very easy to install, which then allows for 33” tires on the OEM wheels.
Lies. I had a ready lift 1.25 spacer and it ruined the geometry of the cv axles. Went through 4 axles and 4 visits in 5 months. So no.
Colorado for sure, the small package makes it more suitable for tight trails. If you want to add 35's without lifting it you can just get AEV Highmark fender flares and you can easily fit 35's which in return gets you increased ground clearance.
Great video guys, I am a long time fewer from the beginning of y'all's shows.
I am a zr2 colorado duramax owner. It's a perfect do all for me. Tows enough for lil truck 6/7k is perfect for pulling cars. Best offroader fits and locked, great mpgs with diesel getting 30hwy without deleted just tuned. All in a offroad rig with a frontend designed exactly opposite of air dynamic lol
Keep up the great work guys
Great scenery! That's one of my favorite water crossings to hit at speed, since it's so shallow but wide.
What trail is that?
@@garretthackett4313 It's the road between Montezuma CO and the top of Webster Pass. The trail gets notably rockier south of the water crossing so the open area on the north side ends up being a popular camping spot.
Full size trucks will never be the best off roader. They're too big. Colorado is superior.
Beautiful views guys what a relaxing way to spend the day !!!
The thing that bothers me is that I wait to see something impressive being done but each video pretty much is the same shit.
It has lockers and what not, but I see more off-roading done by my dead grandma 🤬😆.
What a waste of a good thing.
TFL channels have been very boring for a while now.... Like you said, too much taking about interiors, screens, finishes/textures.....drive more 😒
unsubscribed-o...
@@joseortega9519 no doubt.I wanna see what they can do.Most are interior shots and them talking.I want to see the trucks flex and crawl and dig.The video off the guy on his range rover wad a little better as it was it least pushed a little.I feel they need to get some young guns that want to actually want to push these trucks.Does that make sense?
@@gettin_while_growin1512 yeah, totally agree with you
Lol you should know by now that TFL baby the the vehicles they test on some beginner trails. If they aren't doing that they are busy riding the EV d*ck.
I saw a video of Andre at Toyota's private test course in North Texas driving the new TRD Pro Tundra. He should have taken it to Northwest OHV off road park out in Bridgeport, Tx to really test its capabilities. That private test course was the biggest joke ever btw lol.
My proper rocksliders are showing up today for my ZR2 Silverado, I just got back from the Downieville to La Porte trail, a lot of it is a Rubicon Jeep trail only or rather OHV kind of thing, it made it through amazingly! The lockers were amazing, if I had a Trailboss I wouldn't have been able to get through with out some luck and momentum lol
I love seeing the Colorado ZR2 back on the channel!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally had a problem with my high mileage Z71 '05 Colorado yesterday.....I had to replace the battery....And away we went. Thanks AutoZone!
Appreciate your videos/channels!
They are both extremely capable and handsome machines, and I am saying this as a Ranger Raptor owner (I wish I had the front lockers too)
I’m in a Ranger Tremor and I’m waiting on the new Ranger Raptor.
its how u approach tommy if u went more to the right then com to the left on the bend u would been good but u stayed to the left to much
Can't wait for the new midsize trucks. New Colorado, Canyon, Ranger, and Tacoma plz!
Man the Zr2 is my all around favorite truck of all time. I'd give anything in the world to have one.
All I do is work because my only hobby would be overlanding. If I had one I'd be in the mountains every weekend.
My dream is to take my parents on a overland trip to Imogen pass, and alot other passes out west before they get too old . My uncle took me there and I've been obsessed ever since.
Hopefully if the stars aline I'll have me one day. 🙏
The 2023 Colorado refresh is going to rock, can't wait!
I bought a 2017 zr2. First one in my area. It was very capable on and off road. The ground was the only issue. It definitely needs taller tires from the factory.
Looks like you guys needed to air down. Those tires aren't flexing much. Probably would have made it.
I'll take (have taken) the Colorado, but very impressed with the new Silverado ZR2!
Awaiting the intro on 7/28 to decide if I pursue a ‘23 or a ‘22 Colorado. That’s assuming the 6 ft bed with double cab is an option. The mid $40’s price tag is playing a big factor. But it will not be a ZR2.
“Why is your truck prosthetic arm beige?” lololololo!!! 😂😂😂 Tommy got me with that one!
Love the “good ole fashion “ key.
Those DSSV aren't about being better than Fox or bilstein offroad, it's theyre good offroad and much better behavior on road that sets them apart and makes these trucks even more well rounded
Except they are better offroad vs Fox and Bilstien.
Great job guys .
Love the ZR2's
Love seeing the Colorado trails
The price on that Colorado is almost refreshing, compared to the price of many new cutting edge vehicles.
For CO trails and parking lots in boulder/denver I would choose the Colorado. The price difference is a big one too tbh. If price wasn't a problem the fullsize is the way to go in eastern co or western NE. Can't beat the room and ride quality of a full sized truck. 30k differnce still is in the back of my mind, could buy a nice ATV or dual purpose moto and still have $ left over.
"So dad which tr..." "SILVERADO!!!" 🤣🤣🤣
Roman doesn’t usually make me laugh out loud. But his quick delivery on saying that the Colorado was “older than the Magna Carta” was outrageously funny
What radios do you use for vids? Are they decent on highways?
The Colorado has a 5000 lb towing capacity. A regular Colorado has over 7000 lb capacity.
Not buying a ZR2 to tow, it’s made for getting in and out of rough and rugged terrain, not towing, although it is perfectly capable of towing a small camper, or ATV/ UTV trailer. The Ram Power Wagon is the same, less towing, more going into extreme terrain😎👍🇺🇸
@@Roninforged I had a 2018 Colorado ZR2. I towed a 3500 lb travel trailer in the mountains of utah. That v6 was a dog. But that suspension and ride quality was incredible.
@@paulmadkow9143 not made for towing
@@Sloimer then they shouldn't have put a tow hitch reciever on in the first place.
@@paulmadkow9143 so because it’s not the primary design goal you shouldn’t be able to tow at all? Good job.
It does kill me to this day, no the ZR2 doesn’t have the hp like the TRX or Rapter nor the tire sizes but it also doesn’t have the price tag! The ZR2 has FRONT and rear locker which Noboy else has in the 1500 class…
“Prosthetic arm beige” is what trail boss Silverado I picked. Made me laugh though. 😅
such beautiful scenary
Y’all got up to Webster fast! Just opened last weekend.
I wonder if there's some way you could manual swap the zr2. That would be sick, do any of the lower Colorado trims come with manuals?
Only the 4 cyl 2wd...
@@comfort_in_discomfort Alright just swap the whole drivetrain to the 4 cylinder lol😅
dang it. I spit out my coffee at "prosthetic arm beige".
As a Colorado ZR2 owner, they did well to defend it but got a crucial detail wrong right out of the gate. I would love for it to wear 32s or even be capable of such but unfortunately it sort of is equipped with 31” tires. I believe that the 265/65/17 tires measure in at 30.6 inches, rounding up gets it to 31 but that’s even a stretch.
Yeah, I have 265 70 17 on my 4Runner, and even those are a tad under a 32 in tall. I don't know why they went with the 65 series tire, the 70 would have filled the wheel well out at least a little bit more while being a more common size.
"I really wanted to do the Devil's Crack"... what a line 😆😂
Price point on the ZR2 Silverado is a little ridiculous though when it is only a few thousand cheaper than the TRX, and not the stance or attention of a Raptor. The Colorado is the best midsized truck option for those wanting to overland or trail and will see how the 2023+ launch later this month will reveal more on upcoming capabilities. Sad the 2.8L minimax is going away likely, but hopefully the performance of the 2.5L turbo will give the little truck some pep
Fingers crossed the next colorado is just as good off road and gets the better interior options.
Need that 2.8 duramax for sure
I’ll be sad to see the zr2 go 😞
I had a '17 Colorado ZR2 and loved it. The local RAM dealership offered me 100% of what I paid for it last year so I sold it to them and bought a new RAM Power Wagon. I installed ARE rims and 37s on the Power Wagon but did not really love the truck and the RAM dealership wanted the truck so I sold it back to them. I have a new Tacoma TRD Off-Road Premium on order and the build date is next week and should take 30 days to build it. I really have high expectations on the Tacoma.
Just traded my ‘21 TRD OR 4Runner for a ‘22 TRD OR Tacoma. Very happy with the switch
@@blanedearmond6972 Nice to hear. I really liked the 4Runner but dealers here are stupid greedy.
Good job guys!
I love my ZR2 Silverado , my son has the Colorado ZR2 both 2022 ,, reliable is the key and great looking
great review
Titan XD Pro-4X…..why? Because no one else is or has. Thanks for the videos
Cool video guys and Colorado is Amazing place!! Yo Colorado!!!
Nathan would have hammered down, or (up) the Devils crack, and I think it would have made it up before it went sideways. Just saying. Lol. Other than that obstacle, it looked like a fairly easy trip to the top.
Love those Chevy's. Just wish they came with bigger tires..
Love these trucks!
Now do F150 tremor vs ranger tremor
Can we ever have a video where we don't spend a quarter of it talking about screens? Just get to the offroad performance part. You talk about the interior in every video about these trucks. We get it.
The Raptor R is the only pickup truck that I could think of that will replace the Silverado ZR2. If it's coming very soon or a Bronco Raptor.
Can you do off road with old Puch or old g class
As the owner of a 4 wheeler truck (21 Tundra Off Road), and an FJ (similar in size of Colorado), I’d call this comparison apples and oranges.
Same as my driveway.
The Colorado is so much fun!
I remember when Frontier made it farther up that v notch 😂
That Colorado interior needs a refresh bad
Love my Colorado ZR2 but I'm not a fan of the none rebuildable shocks.
Now once the Silverado ZR2 Bison shows up, we can compare Bisons. Though, by then, the new Colorado might be waiting for a new ZR2.
... is it true the V6 is being replaced by the Turbo 4cyl in the 2023 Colorado as the only gas engine available ? ...
About the quoted prices....those sky-high numbers are about to come down...way down! High gas prices, rising interest rates, and an economy slowing to recession are the perfect storm that will bring down those crazy-high truck prices.
That's a nice looking pair of trucks, I still like the colorado better though. I wish the colorado could get the 2.7 from the silverado, that would be awesome.
We'll find out on July 28
Where have you been? They are absolutely going to put the 2.7 turbo in the new Colorado/ Canyon.
@@herbwheeler4470 I guess not paying attention LOL. That's awesome IMO, should work out great in a smaller truck.
@@spcneary only question is will it be the standard 310hp 350lbft or the reinforced high output 310hp 420lbft
It will be the only engine option on the 23
Next time let air out of your tires.
which one is more comfy?
That Silverado is Priced to high IMHO and other that high performance sports car in a work truck Premium Fuel who needs that especially with todays fuel prices.
Colorado has some fantastic trails..
Unfortunately Alaska doesn't
Tommy is a saint
A very wise choice not to continue on the devils crack. I would choose the Silverado anytime. Keep on rockin TFL
Why don't you guys ever go down the other side of Webster Pass towards 285 on that super fun shelf road? Don't worry, I took a lifted 2019 F150 fx4 with 35's down it and I will NEVER take a full size truck on that shelf road again lol You know the wash out spot I'm talking about!!!
I know that my 2002 s10 zr2 would kick those newer trucks butts. I would like to se a comparison between the older s10 zr2 vs the new Colorado zr2. So we could see how much gm has improved on their off road trucks if any.
You're kidding, right? I had a 2001 Blazer ZR2 and they all came with open diffs. Technically, it is the same chassis...just way more tech. I have a '22 ZR2 and it is lightyears beyond that old one when off road. They have the same font on the gauges, which I thought was a nice touch.
@@ricol2465 I ain’t kidding, I’ve taken my truck to more places than I probably should have. I’ve crossed rivers climbed mountain trails gone through mud, snow you name it. I pulled a semi out of a muddy field with it. I’ve yet to have a problem with it. I’m running 31in all terrains on aftermarket wheels, I have a custom built high clearance bumper and new rear and front shocks. The blazer zr2s are sick tho. My truck has posi track in the rear, but gm didn’t put a true locker in them. Also I ain’t scared bout scratching the paint on my ole girl.
@@theruralwrencher945 I hear ya. My 4.3 Blazer was tough, put it through everything. Besides head gaskets, there were no major issues with the truck...just a bunch of little ones.
Had 2" shackles on the back, twisted up the front and it had a great stance. I had to upgrade the Blazer a bit, but the '22 is ready for anything right off the lot. Totally different suspension geometry, and no torsion bars. The improvements are there.
BFG A/T is the only way to roll...I'm looking forward to putting them on the Colorado.
That's a shame you couldn't make it. The wash out made it more difficult, as the TFL Trailboss made it through that.
Despite Roman's request not to complain about the ZR2 going. I will.
TFL had the responsibility to review this truck against its competition. We got to see the Trailboss vs a Rebel, and Ratpor in Moab. The one and only Review VS the TRD pro was on the tame sections of Trail, dozens of other videos featured the Razor rocks, yet that important test was missing. Where was the technical offroad tests vs the Ratpor and TRX? Or even the Tremor?
So yes TFL, I am extremely disappointed, you had the opportunity to provide the definitive test of which half ton truck is best offroad.
Swing and a miss, by a mile.
Nope, we took the ZR2 to Moab for complete off-road and MPG test. Did you miss those videos?
@@TFLoffroad You took it alone to MOAB. Which is next to useless if you don't compare it at the same time on the same day vs other trucks. Looking back to previous videos is of no use ,as your current video shows. Trails change.
And where is your channel and bad ass content. HATER!
You’re completely correct. This truck was barely tested off road. Other than The off road course at the ranch, a very weak Moab video, and a couple videos like this, illustrating nothing; I’m left with very little sense of it’s capabilities. You guys did it right with the bronco you owned, took it on some legitimately challenging trails multiple times. Why this didn’t get a similar workout is beyond me.
& then they get comments addressing their mistakes and respond with condescending/arrogant “Nope”. Twice they did that in this video’s comment section lol. Sad.
2024: "Yeah at only $70K...this is such an affordable truck..."
That Colorado ZR2 Is Popular For Going On The Dirt.
Looking at the new AT4 huh.
It's very basic physics. The Colorado is lighter, narrower and smaller with a better approach, breakover and departure angle. It's the better off-roader. Very simple. Both ZR2's pretty much have the exact same off-road tech and equipment, only difference is size.
The Tacoma hasn’t changed since 2016. Yet every yr in the past 4 yrs I’ve heard the “new” Tacoma
Just to disagree with Roman, and for no other reason, Give me a colorado (with the diesel, of course) I had one, LOVED it.
Was this an off road video or a podcast from the front seat? Devils crack was a nice obstacle too bad you didn’t give it another try and to say “Hell yea let’s do it “ lol. I’ve yet to see that said and a hard obstacle actually tackled on this channel.
If I had to take one of these I'm going Colorado it's easier to drive in the city easier to park it's powerful it's very VERY capable off-road, to me the Silverado won't fit in my garage way too expensive & harder to drive in the city + when you go off 🛣️ but...
I'll take the 🌮 4X4 off-road 6-speed manual... That's just me tho
I love yoy guys!! But that comparison sucked!!! Go find other obstacles if you can't beat the crack....we wanted to see them wheel.
Just a sugestion but you guys should put something hanging from the mirror to give us a better perspective on how steep your climbing. Just a hought.
But how can we ignore the rampant engine problems GM has with the 6.2? There are videos all over Tiktok weekly of 6.2s being replaced in NEW GM trucks.
It will be more affordable when the bank REPO your Silverado 👌🤠
I'm gonna wait till it's in the auction yard
Newer doesnt make it better. The colorado has been proven a worthy machine. I happen to like the interior on my 21 zr2. With that said, i am interested in talking with the chevy dealership soon about pricing on the new one coming out.
The new one zr2 is stupid expensive!
How the hell did i never put together they are dad and son? Lol
Don't crack 'em up Roman, this ain't NASCAR!
