Weatherscan - Severe T'Storm & Tornado Warning - January 24th, 2015

- There was this very powerful storm cell that came into Port Charlotte. The tornado was a confirmed tornado (EF-0) that caused minor damage. Weatherscan was kind of useless because the radar wasn't even showing the severe storm and it was showing Tampa's CC, where the storm already ended. The severe thunderstorm warning was for Sarasota County & Charlotte county. The Tornado warning was for Sarasota, Charlotte, and DeSoto counties. I was watching weatherscan all night, I saw that heavy rain was impacting Sarasota, but I didn't think it would be severe. I was wrong, that cell managed to be the only storm with warnings for central and southwest Florida. Also, I turned to WWSB in HD (because I thought they'd alert that there's a tornado), but they didn't. So I turn to the weather channel. Which the intelliStar got new "alert beeps" for its warnings. A local forecast is also included in the video. I was listening to NOAA Weather Radio's WWG59 during this whole weather outbreak, apparently, the weather radio station didn't find the Tornado warning a big deal as it was talking about the coastal waters forecast and other stuff. The intelliStar is still lagging as seen during the video, the background keeps flickering and the 5 day forecast flickers too. Also, the low for that night was (expected) warmer than today's high, which is very ironic. Watch in 720p for the best experience.

I did until about half a year ago until my provider replaced it. I found and downloaded much of the music on it.

I would fall asleep to weatherscan all the time. The only thing I hated was waking up to any weather alerts, it would scare the crap out of me every time! I would love to have this back!
Only thing I won’t miss about this channel are the goddamn buzzers for every time there’s a severe thunderstorm warning 😐

I kinda love that alert sound, it gives me nostalgia when I'd hear it in a blizzard and know I'd get off school for a few days. Sadly I don't think they use it anymore.

I remember was about 9 and 10 years old in 2009 and 2010 I used to love this music sound at 21:57 I remember that whenever I hear that song I'll put my headphones and listen to that beat and now 2022 still love this beat.

Andrew Hansell I remember when I had the weatherscan channel and the sound would be made only in the event of severe weather.
Did you stayed awake until late night/early morning that night?
They still used 4:3 aspect ratio in 2015? Looks much older than that, but I suppose this would make sense for hotels with older televisions.
Weatherscan is still 4:3 to this day because it is still ran on the same hardware used since 2003.
@@PianoVideosJustForU yeah, it still runs on the IntelliSTAR system, which is nearly 20 years old.

+Mirko Mazzoni I miss this. I remember I used to watch this a lot during thunderstorms. Only once I got a tornado warning on this.

But Weatherscan probably sucks now because EVERY narration is gone (except that bulletin did by the good old Jim Cantore, you can see it in that Ehatt800 video)!
All the major companies got rid of weatherscan because the two parties (weatherscan) (TWC) were unable to come to terms on a new carriage agreement.

The beeping is scared me and my sister i hate the loud beeps also bring back weather scan

+katlyn 600 I'm sorry to hear about that. The weather is really bad this year. Be sure to check the SPC and always have a NOAA Weather Radio in use whenever there's a possibility of severe weather.
