I was lucky - in that The Ethical Slut was recommended to me by a friend fairly early on into my sexual awakening despite growing up in a fairly sheltered environment (in terms of variety of relationship styles anyway!). That book helped me hugely in developing the right language to talk about how I felt and also to give me the courage to speak up about what I wanted, knowing I wasn't alone in my sense that monogamy didn't feel like a natural fit for me. I am loving getting to know you guys better and learning more about your wonderful family and how you discovered the wonderful world of polyamory so thank you for sharing!

I've always found the connections created in relationships, especially the multiple relationships that I have to be very fulfilling and amazing when they're complementary. For me, no one person ticks all the boxes, but combined, I will say I am feeling very complete.
Others around here hear the word "polyamorous" and they turn tail and run away FAST. Our biggest challenge is simply meeting anyone who isn't actually just looking for a one-time three way (despite living in a metropolitan area of over 6 million people).
My husband and I started a poly relationship about two years ago and find that it works better. We also have "friends" that we go see without each other but we know about it. It has definitely helped us because I was am newer to kink than he is so I am able to learn from others and use that in our relationship. It has also helped us both explore things that the other couldn't/wouldn't do.
My husband and I just want a third man in our life but most guys we meet, either together or solo, seem completely turned off by the idea.
Yea, the search can be difficult, but I find it works best when looking for people that are already seeking poly, or at have at least been exposed to it
