    The Pad Machine in action!
Roland D50 linear synthesizer sounds demo. I choose to play only pad sounds because this synth is got-to machine for pads. Lush, atmospheric, creamy pads are the specialty (or at least one of the specialties) of this beautiful machine! Let me know if you want more sounds...

I wondered how the D50 implements the transition from the sampled attack phase to the synthesized main part of a sound. Does the attack sample contain a tonal sound or just noise? Is it resampled according to the pitch of the played note?

I have to check it out on the manual, I don't remeber because it's been ages since I tried to make a patch on the first D50 I had back in 2006...

A patch, in dual mode is made up of 4 partial, 2 for upper tone & 2 for lower, like 4 separate synths. Each partial can be set to either PCM, sample, or typical oscillator based. The Timing that the partials are heard is simply controlled by the 5 stage TVA (Time Variable Amplifier) more commonly known as ADSR Envelope.

Thanks for this explanation! I definitely have to dust off my "way around" the instrument, it's been too many years since last time I tried to make a sound with it.
