  • The gasoline guzzling mayhem gets fatiguing at the expense of the characters. Needs more focused fury.
"The gasoline mayhem is breathtaking but gets fatiguing, unlike its more focused predecessor, Fury Road. Both Alyla Browne and Anya Taylor-Joy are noteworthy Furiosas. Though their presence isn't enough to save this overlong prequel from a spluttering narrative. What saddens me most is that it's focused too much on the action to build on the feminist fury alive in its sequel."

Be honest, the film deviated from "max", that's why it was received poorly

I think the movie came too late to capitalize on the success of Fury Road + audiences have gotten used to waiting for home release. The Mad Max fanbase is pretty niche anyway. I doubt a Tom Hardy lead movie would've done much better in this climate. Furiosa, the character, is super beloved. It's not that. I just think it was too long and didn't live up to Fury Road, so a lot of the word-of-mouth was to skip it.
