Bo Burnham Had a Hard Time Just Holding Coffee Cups While Filming ‘Promising Young Woman’

- Bo Burnham’s leap from CZcams to cinema took another step at Sundance 2020 with his performance in “Promising Young Woman.” But for the “Eighth Grade” director, playing the male lead in Emerald Fennell’s provocative thriller about sexism and harassment led to a lot of nerves.
“Holding a coffee cup and just looking like I’m from planet Earth was enough of a challenge,” Burnham joked to TheWrap’s Beatrice Verhoeven. “Just the simple act of business and sort of integrating it, and meanwhile I’m holding a french fry and wondering, ‘Do I look like I even have human DNA at this point?'”

@@pedro-pascals-armpit he is an actor, yes this was an act but the whole special was in itself kindve a metaphor. people have taken videos of him outside and he never said he doesn't go outside, everyone is trying so hard to pick every single thing out about him/this special. if you have watched what. it describes it a bit better. the end bit of "we think we know you"

Especially after watching "Inside". This interview was right before Covid, when he said he had been feeling a lot better. I hope we see more interviews of him feeling this happy in the near future.

I know that inside was a performance and we were only seeing what he wanted us to see but ya know I think these times had some really bad moments and to see someone’s bad moments isolated from their highs makes me worried and I cannot wait to hear from him and how he feels truly

Dixie Noble they actually announced a show at largo on there website where he’s not opening for someone else so that’s probably a good sign (all his older shows weren’t announced on the website)

I adore Carry Mulligan, I think she's brilliant. She was incredible in this movie. I also love Bo because he's a genius although in a different sphere. He did well in the movie because his natural charisma is off the charts.
Watching interviews after watching the movie makes everything they say so layered cause you see the oppositeness they talk about and how it completely makes the relationship so interesting.
Bo Burnham forever will be in a movie that won best screenplay. That’s real. That’s forever.
3:40 where she talks about Bo cracking her up makes me think of the scene at dinner with the parents. Right at the end when Bo Burnham bails on the conversation by declaring how amazing the sauce is, I can see Carrie Mulligan really cracking up.

Awww Bo looks so happy here, and after watching Inside where he talks about his mental health deteriorating because of the project makes me almost wish he didn't do it to himself :(
Tbh I feel like he probably would've been worse off if he hadn't done the project. You know, you gotta find a way to make something out of it so you have the will to wake up in the morning and all that.
Although Bo's mental health and anxiety struggles are real, Inside is not an accurate biographical video diary of any sorts. That's a character he was playing. He wasn't actually living in a studio and descending into madness - at least not in the way it was portrayed there. His brilliance is that it almost makes you feel like it's real, because it just resonates with you so much.
