I have all of these products and absolutely LOVE them. The peel is amazing, it does tingle and itch, but leaves a beautiful glow. It’s a great line and so adorable!
I swear by their products. My skin has changed so much. I was a tanner (Scottsdale) for 45 years. I never even put moisturizer on my face. Luckily, I have bullet proof skin. I love The Ordinary. I went in slowly with it and I have had great experiences with it. I did follow Kimberly's routine.
Im impressed how honest and funny you were at this video! Just thank you for your true review! It’s hard to start a skincare routine and all the videos are the same! I loved how we can learn from your mistakes here!
Tks for sharing! ❤️
Thank you Marina. It’s a definitely what not to do🤪🤪🤪
Hi Lisa … I’m a new subscriber, watching a few of your older videos. As a licensed esthetician/esthetics instructor, I’d like to offer a few tips you may or may not find helpful. Please don’t misunderstand … not intending to ‘be the boss of you’, just to help. So here are my top tips: #1 - pH is a key factor in skin barrier integrity and antimicrobial defense. On the pH scale of 1-14, 7 being considered neutral, the skin on your face (untreated) tends to be slightly acidic in the 5/6 range. Interestingly, newborns tend to start at around 7 and lower with age. This is where your skin is happiest. When you’re throwing a lot of different products at it, your barrier can become quite compromised, resulting in irritation. Lets say you’re using a lot of low (acidic) products and experience that irritation. You want to bring that pH up a bit, right? Just dissolve about a tablespoon of baking soda (highly alkaline) in a cup of warm water and swab your face with it. Voila … you should experience quick relief. Now, if you were using an enzyme product (highly alkaline) to exfoliate, while you may not experience the same level of irritation as with an acid, you still want to normalize your pH to protect your barrier and its function. The remedy? A similar mixture using a tablespoon of vinegar (acidic) in water. Then carry on with the remainder of your routine, which brings me to the order in which to layer products. The most important thing you need to remember is ‘thin to thick’, and ‘clear to cloudy’, unless you’re including an antioxidant formula, which you would typically apply first, no matter the viscosity. Your final product should always be the heaviest in your routine, typically a product that contains lipids (fats/oils) that lock everything in and prevent TEWL (trans-epidermal water loss). Lastly, before any type of ‘peel’, treat your skin with tyrosinase inhibitors for a couple of weeks beforehand. These include, but are not limited to, kojic acid, ferulic acid, licorice extract, alpha arbutin, etc. These will inhibit the activity of the melanocytes and cut down on the hyperpigmentation you experienced post peel. Of course, when you are prone to this type of hyperpigmentation (darker skintones tend to be), regular use of these products are recommended!
Ok - that’s all I have to share for now. 🤗. Hope you find it helpful!! One more thing … if you want to do a deep dive into how the skin functions, check out the book ‘Milady Standard Esthetics Fundamentals’ on Amazon. Not inexpensive, but a great investment if you are interested in learning all things skin. 🤗🤗🤗
I appreciate your honesty so much. I feel like when you try out products you are taking one for the over 50 team.
Thank you so much Juliann. Your comment means so much to me!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Lisa, I started using The Ordinary products but was so so confused about what I could and couldn't use with what. I went on the site and printed out their whole big chart of what products can and cannot be used at the same time. I taped it to the inside of my bathroom closet where my skin care and cosmetics are kept. Not only could I easily look up what I should and shouln't use together but it helped me commit it to memory. Still great as a quick reference guide!!
That’s a great hint because their products are complex. Of course my girlfriend just bought a kit that was sold together as a brightening kit from the ordinary at Ulta this week and gave herself a chemical burn all over her face and neck… I think the most important thing with acids is patch test! She used products the Ordinary recommended together, following their instructions!
I think my biggest takeaway on their chart was Vitamin C does not play well with some peptides , other acids, or retinal products.......
Hi Lisa, I use the copper peptides and they do have a place with other Ordinary products but it is limited for safety and other negative results.
My skin has been desensitized while using the Ordinary products for over a year...so my skin accepts these products gratefully. Anyone using multiple active ingredients needs to build up gradually to decrease potential irritation to their skin. Everyone's skin is different and must be respected.
In the Am...I cleanse with a fiber cloth only, apply "Alpha Arbutrin", then copper peptides, then mix Niacinamide powder with the Moisturizing Factors with no issues at all.
I recently changed my PM routine to "cleanse with their oil cleanser, apply Vit C Suspension 30%, Alpha Arbutrin and then Moisturizing Factors...also no problem for my skin.
1-2 x week I use the Peeling Solution after an hour of Vit C 30% absorbing...then AA again and Moisturizing Factors to seal it in...no problems. Vit C Suspension works better for me at night rather than morning for better brightening. I have tried other AHA's in the past and the burning and process was very uncomfortable. The Ordinary's Peeling Solution is fantastic and so is the red. That's part of the fun of using it. The "stingle" is intense if your skin is using it for the first time, or you aren't used to acids...so The Ordinary recommends removing it before 10 mts if it starts stinging. A "stingle" is very different from a "tingle"...so let's be honest about that...lol.
New to your website and love this post. I have tried so many products and have done the same thing as you but with other products - my skin is sensitive too!
I fee for you and I’m going to watch this again but I wish Ordinary had live chats with their reps for help because they’re is way to much - thanks for your share and honesty
Sam
Sam thanks Sam!! They will email answers but it might take 3-5 days to get reply!
I think they are doing live chats now. But you can contact them on their website for help with figuring out what products would suit you best.
Thank you for your honesty! I am discovering about Ordinary skin care line in recent days. It IS very true that their line is overwhelming and your honesty about being confused is very refreshing and very much appreciated as I do not want to purchase unneccessarily or over purchase items. I will watch more of your past and more current videos regarding ORDINARY as I want to know how the products are helping your skin. Please continue to do more videos re. Ordinary skin care. It would help me to make decision on what to buy and what not to buy if you showed us how each of the products are reacting to your skin or if they are really making a difference and actually improving your skin on a long term basis.
Thank you for a very imformative presentation of the products!
I did do a follow up video last fall with the products recommended to me by The Ordinary staff via their chat.
I am always confused on which products is best for this and that. I have taken some notes and Im now off to the shops to buy, thank you for another great video x
Thanks for the honest input. I’m 48 and want to start with using the Ordinary and get into a good routine and get the right products as there are so many of them. ☺️
Yes! I highly recommend checking out Pretty Over 50 for recommendations, she has a lot of videos on The Ordinary for mature skin and where to start videos!
Contact The Ordinary on their website. They really are good at recommending only what you need and they'll even email you a regimen on how to use the products and what should go where. That's what I did in February at the age of 49 - now 50. I'm so glad I did because I was getting lost on the website! I had already bought 4 products and it turned out that two of them would do nothing for my concerns. At least they were honest enough to say that to me too. Luckily I was able to pass those two products onto my teenage daughter so nothing went to waste. I now buy nearly all mine and her skincare from them.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I, too, had never heard of the brand until I starting watching YT more often. I only tried the buffet peptide (the one without the copper), and honestly I saw and felt absolutely nothing. It was harmless and just ended up using it up on my neck and hands. I follow Dr. Dray and have really tried the "less is more" approach I feel she conveys, and honestly it's really helped. I thought about getting NA Moisturizing Factor cream from them for a boost, but I'm on the fence. BTW, so glad to see someone our age who is not a bottle blond! :)
Thanks for Watching Deborah! Less is more...and it's taken me a year to go back to my minimal approach! 🥰
Thank you so much for this video! I've had a running list of products from The Ordinary that I wanted to purchase and you helped me whittle it down!!!
I was laughing so hard when you said..."screw it, I'm going to just use them all!!!" Been there , done that! 😂🔥🙄
🤪🥰🥰🥰🥰
Hi 👋 Jenn😍... I really don’t know why youtube recommended this video for me; but then I watched it till the end and was about commenting and then i got caught captivated by your comment.... I hope mixing them up wont have an opposite result of what you wanted, well am not a woman but its just a thought... I just couldn't just pass by without writing you... You want to know what I think; Well, I love seeing woman in makeup, but like a lot of men, I don't like seeing a heavy amount of it. Let the makeup highlight your natural beauty… There's nothing in this world like it. I think a woman's makeup should only accentuate her natural features. Too much makeup tends to take away from her appearance as opposed to adding to it. Less can be good… If I can't see skin and her eyelashes look like Tammy Faye Baker, it's too much.
I know it isn't right doing this here, but then where would have been the perfect place; My name is Jayden, do you mind if we connect, be friends and get to know more about ourselves and see where it takes us?
Love, love, love The Ordinary 😍
Hi from Australia 🇦🇺... I found you this morning,I had a good laugh and learnt a lot at 7am..... Have a great day/night..
Thanks Mary! 🥰🥰🥰
Hi 👋 Mary😍... I really don’t know why youtube recommended this video for me; but then I watched it till the end... This is indeed an awesome video... I was about commenting when I got captivated by your comment and I couldn't just pass by without writing you … I can tell you for a fact that; if I was a lady, I have learnt something cool... Makeup for women is pretty cool because it accentuates her natural features, but like a lot of men, I don't like seeing a heavy amount of it. Let the makeup highlight your natural beauty only… There's nothing in this world like it… I know it isn't right doing this here, but then where would have been the perfect place; My name is Jayden, do you mind if we connect, be friends and get to know more about ourselves and see where it takes us?
I use several of The Ordinary products and love them!
There's a reason for instructions. Hope people are not put off of the brand because of incorrect use.
Yes, but unfortunately, the instructions are not included with the products!! Mine misuse was obvious, but my esthetician friends say they see a lot of misuse on active products and improper mixing (all product lines, not just The Ordinary), with long term and more serious damage!.
I Love using Josie Maran products. Just by using different ones you can notice a difference in your skin within one week. This product line also have vitamin C. I would love for you to check out these products and do a video on them. I’m disabled so it’s very difficult for me do do anything like that. Thank You
All of my ordinary products came with directions. Didn’t yours come on a box? I love your video and I’m not being smart honestly.. I’m just wondering?
This was really helpful! Thank you.
Ohmword how refreshing to hear of this product!! I am 65 years young but is getting harder to stop the aging process. It depressions me, I am vain I'll admit. Thank God both of my parents passed down good genetics. In my search for the magic ONE, I have spent way too much $ slapping on everything I could at a reasonable price somethings seemed to work, but stopped working, I felt. I just ordered some kinda snail 🐌 stuff but not feeling it so far. SO I'm going to try this!! I've been taking notes & reading other reviews & their information & helpfulness I'll let y'all know if I can remember lol lol 🤪
Thanks for this video, I wish I had found something like this months ago. Almost everything I’ve tried from the ordinary is too strong for my skin, dang it. I’m glad I’m not the only one with that problem. But I think it’s nice that there are such affordable and effective products on the market!
Exactly! It’s great if you can customize you’re perfect skin care products at such a reasonable prices. I think I will stick to my milder blends that I know work but don’t irritate my skin 😉💕
Donna lol 👌🏻
OMG what a crazy review. I want to run from Ordinary products! However, I do appreciate your experimentations.
Oh, my goodness! You are exactly what I have been looking for!!! Honest reviews for skin care for my aging (just turned 60) skin. Looking forward to watching more from you.
Thank you Karen! 💕💕💕
Karen, I agree. She is just real.
The products are great when you know how to use them . Some products are for morning use, and retinols etc are used at night. There is a guide that you can print out from their page. But never mix if you don't know what reacts to other products.
I didn’t know there are 2 strengths of niacinamide!! I’m gonna check my strength! I have a copper on the way - excited!! I agree. It will be hard to take breaks from tretinoin!!!! So many good products to use! Great reviews sweet Lisa!!🤗🤗😂
Thank you! I'll be interested in how you work the products into your routine, I know you like a more complex routine and find it relaxing. 🥰💕🤗
Just started using The Ordinary.I appreciate your informative video.
Glad it was helpful! Just go slow! 🥰
Thank you,Donna. Can I contact the company via phone?

A few weeks ago I began the vitamin C suspension...no irritation. I did my first AHA BHA peeling solution 5 days ago...no irritation. Yesterday I tried the Glycolic acid...no irritation. I have a bunch of their products so I'll keep using them as recommended (always use the exfoliants only at nigh-time!)
Thank you so much, this is helpful 😊
I’ve been using the Hyaluronic Acid then the “Buffet” (without cooper peptides) & Rose Hip Seed Oil at night. This trio is fantastic and my skin feels amazing every morning. I do need to add a weekly exfoliation product.
I didn't try any of their moisturizers, I just grabbed actives, but now I want to try the Rose Hip Seed Oil, a lot of people have recommended it! 🥰
The buffet has hyaluronic acid in it so you don’t need both. Just so you know 🙂
Jen K yes! I know Buffet has hyaluronic acid in it but figured the proportion is less with other ingredients so why not double up. Make sense?
Beth Graham Wellness I suppose except hyaluronic acid isn’t an important ingredient anyway. It temporarily pulls water from the air and puts it into your skin which plumps it up slightly and moisturizes it. If there isn’t enough moisture in the air though, it will actually take that moisture FROM your skin...which isn’t good lol. For all of that, the effects don’t last long anyways. It’s one of those ingredients that just doesn’t deserve all of the hype in my opinion. For that one I always kind of thought less is more...just my thoughts though 🙂
Beth Graham Wellness It depends where you live too though. If you live somewhere with high humidity levels, it might have great effects. I live right in the middle of Canada however so tend to stay away from it lol
Loved your video. I have sensitive and dry skin as well. Just ordered from the ordinary so we shall see... fingers crossed..
Thank you so much for your information re: The Ordinary. I've been wanting to order a complete regimen from them, but was really overwhelmed at the sheer amount of products and how to correctly use them, i.e. when, what not to mix with, did I need to supplement with any other products outside of their company, etc.
I've been an anti-aging skincare enthusiast since I was 34, 20 years ago. I got botox once in my life about 7 years ago and Juvaderm once 3 months after botox. I didn't like the results, so I continued to use my mainstay, Dr. Perricone's topicals, have 2 of his books which advise you what vitamins/minerals to take, the amount and when. There is also an anti-inflammatory diet that I followed, incorporating that with my sports nutritionist's plan.
I was working out at a very advanced pace and in 2006, was supposed to go to CA to be on their first P90X commercial. My husband of 17 years passed away, so I went on a very slow downhill ride on a slippery slope and didn't pick back up with any of my previous good habits.
Sorry for that long rant! I just start and keep on! Haha..
Anyhow, I'm currently using Perricone, Erno Laszlo, Peter Thomas Roth, Obagi, Vintner's Daughter and some others on a rotation basis and not getting any treatment outside of my house (I do have several anti-aging devices sitting, not being used). I will be watching your videos to see what your doing and take notes, because your skin looks phenomenal!
Thanks Kris! The only line I haven't heard of before is Vintner's Daughter. Sorry to hear about your husband. My husband and daughters really liked the P90X workout. We followed Perricone's diets about 15 years ago and our skin really did look great, even without a change in skincare. I need to pay attention and start thinking about inside out...thanks for the reminder!
I love the products, I never had a Problem with anything I have used. I keep using the Ordinary products.
Do think this will be okay for breastfeeding mom?
I love my The Ordinary products, I definitely read everything I could find on each product. I have quit using my previous skin care regime. Staying with The Ordinary
Thank you for all that info...
My 18 y/o daughter had bought the aha/bha peel and didn’t like it at all. She asked if I wanted it and I said sure, I’ll try it. Turns out I loved it but it did scare me when it tingled so much the first time I used it. I had never heard of Ordinary, so I did some investigating and came across Pretty Over Fifty and now I’m a convert. I use my retinol at night on the nights I don’t use a peel of any kind and I use the buffet/copper in the am with hyaluronic acid and a sunscreen. I’ll switch buffet out for vit c aprox 2 times a week. I use niacinamide/zinc am and pm. I have the Argireline and salicylic acid, but I forget to use them most times. My skin has definitely improved and I love the price point
The AHA/BHA peel is one of my favourite products, my skin feels and looks at least 15 years younger after using it.
How often you use it in a week?
@@siraprapameechai1410 once, maximum.
Finally! Someone else that makes silly mistakes and owns up. I'm just getting over the burnt skin around my eyes too. I started using The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10% because it is supposed to brighten the skin and be especially good for around the eyes. Might be for some but it burnt the skin around my eyes and I've had sore, red and peeling skin for a couple of weeks. I stopped using everything except jojoba oil and it's finally cleared up. I'll stick to their Caffeine for my eyes in future.
I hear you! Because even things that were fine a month ago are still a little sensitive around my eyes!
I don’t think Argireline Solution is for brightening. They call it Botox in a bottle. It’s suppose to relax the muscles that cause deeper wrinkles like the 11’s between brows and others. I’d be careful where you put it. I have it, but I forget to use it because I’m trying to prevent those deeper lines, but I don’t have any yet so there is nothing to remind me 🤷♀️
I love this products and it has done my skin wonders😊.
When it comes to skin you always have to patch test first and go easy . Build up tolerance gradually.Be kind to yourself.Good skin doesn't happen overnight. Its something you have to do 24/7 every day + consider your diet/lifestyle.
I agree! Thanks for watching, I'm trying to improve my diet too, I definitely eat too much sugar!
I use Retinoid 5% in squalane, hyaluronic acid and their under-eye solution (forget the name). Nevre had a problem. I really appreciate the affordability compared with other over-priced beauty products that have the same active ingredients in much smaller quantities, dressed up in fancy jars and packaging.
Caffeine? I use that too. It completely got rid of the dark circles under my eyes that had plagues me for years. Love it.
Sorry to hear that you had bad reactions from using the product but part of me was happy to hear I am not the only one that does things that cause reactions!! I use the Ordinary Buffet, not really sold on that, the 30% BHA 2% Peeling Solution is another one I like too. I stopped torturing myself and am a bit more cautious.
This cracks me up....and I'm so sorry you had to go through that. We never stop learning do we? lol! I like the Ordinary products. This was some great info!
Took me 53 years to learn that lesson, and I wonder why my young adult children do dumb things, lol. We all just get lazy and try to do a "shortcut"
fantastic!!!!!! I really needed this , I have been using it for about 2 years, love the. line and the cost, but it is SO HARD to figure out, you are just what I needed. I subscribed, but where is the notification bell? Happy Holidays!
P S. I am 60 and I love skin care. I am going to watch all your videos.
Glad it was helpful! I have a new skincare video coming out on Saturday....its kind of my basic skincare, I try everything but this is what I always depend on! 🥰
The ordinary has amazing products...Love them yes, you do have to do alittle research as how to use them and put the effort in daily to see the results! You can not find the prices anymore affordable for these great products anywhere in other product lines! 💜
Agree, their prices are fantastic!
Thanks for being honest and sharing your bad experimenting with us. You are doing exactly what some of us (me) do. We know we should know better to read instructions but we do what we do any way 😆. I've start using this brand last year, no reaction. I think I'm going to give that red liquid thing a try.
Please don't listen to her shes being dramatic millions of people use these products just try for your self before listening to people like this
@@efcmax6415 why would you feel the need to BASH Lisa to someone else?! She was being honest about the what she’d done, with the products she bought. She admitted she shouldn’t have used them all at the same time. She even mentions several times that some of the products might very well work for someone else, even if they didn’t for her. I believe she even said everyone’s skin is different is this video.
So I don’t understand the need for you to talk bad about her to someone else.
If you don’t like what she has to say about any of the products, or about anything for that matter, go watch another channel!
It’s totally RUDE what you did.
Just received my first order for dry age skin used it my evening routine after this one use it's so amazing my skin looks and feels so much better looking forward to future
Ordinary forgot to mention lol
I'm a new subscriber! Love your channel! I'm 55 and also looking into the same products! I ordered the one with Cooper included cuz I love the buffet. I really love Paula's choice 10 percent azelaic acid for vitamin c and I love the smoothness it gives & a glow! Thank u!!
My fav dermatologist on YT, Dr Davin Lim, recommends azelaic acid for sensitive skin as a kinder acid, that might be the secret! I think when I’m ready to add the actives back, because I am still recovering a month later, I am just going to to do one or two only.

I do like some of the Ordinary products, particularly the AHA/BHA peel and the Coffee serum. I think I'd like to try the vitamin C suspension as well.
I'll stick to using them separately though 😉. Thanks for sharing your experience with us Lisa!
Yes!! I have long ago learned my lesson 😂😂😂
I’ve used the caffeine serum for the bags under my eyes for 2yrs now. It works better than Lancôme or anything else I’ve ever tried, but I don’t use it every day. The other products get confusing to me.
I have just started using The ordinary products and so glad I found it. I used to use expensive over priced products and so far I have been quite happy with the products so far.
You do have to ask for guidance about which products you need and how to use layer it.
I don't know what you use to compare The Ordinary with... but it works when you use it correctly.
Hot and Flashy has great video's on anti-aging, too. Her father is a chemist so she is very knowledgeable about different anti-aging products. The more information we can get, the better off we'll all be. Smiles and happy aging. Ugh!
I love Angie, she was the first mature beauty channel I ever watched! My problem is the retention...I remember hearing about something but not necessarily how to use it!
Lisa Monique Beauty I printed Angie’s regimen from her blog. That sure has helped me follow it!
@@LisaMonique FYI, Angie uses her lactic acid in her morning routine AFTER applying her Timeless Vitamin C w/ferulic acid. I hope this helps. I do that also, except I use the 5% lactic acid from Ordinary due to my sensitive skin. And yes, I’ve been guilty on the “more is better” philosophy. And with my tendency toward sensitive skin that is crazy talk. LOL Will I ever learn?🤪
I love the ordinary. Used correctly, (what were you thinking girl?) they are incredibly effective and so cheap that I buy them in quantity for fear they will get smart and put their prices up.
I know! I guess I was thinking they wouldn’t be that damaging if used wrong 1 time! Lesson learned! Thanks for wtching🥰
@@LisaMonique In reviewing The Ordinary, I am discovering thatvI may use only one, two products. The others might be from The Inkey ...
Reason being, The Ordinary seems to pose more reactions. Had Labo is also a great skin line .
I just added the ordinary 10% niacinimide solution to my regime and it's a game changer for my oily skin. I wouldn't recommend it for dry skin or super, super sensitive skin, but under my tretinoin it's nothing short of a miracle. It's a bit tacky and can pill, so I wouldn't recommend it for daytime use if you're going to layer it under sunscreen and makeup. That being said, a light, *stress* light layer might work for you if you give it time to sink in. It also doesn't sting my skin , so I don't know what's up with that. Cera ve pm moisturizer, which has niacinimide at 4% stings a little bit. Go figure. :/ And I love my cera ve pm.

Hi Lisa, New to your channel and love this video as I'm looking to add some actives. So appreciate you sharing your experience.
Glad it was helpful! Pretty embarrassing to mess it up so bad, but sometimes you just do silly things! 💕🌸🌷
Hi Peaches Skincare, I don't mind at all. I've added Timeless Vit C with garlic acid and their Synth 6 for several months before adding Adapelene. I have sensitive skin and continue to have issues adjusting to the Adapelene even though it's mixed with a moisturizer. I've gone to every other night with Adapelene and by Friday I just use moisturizer as I feel a slight burning sensation. I've now started Curology with a simplistic routine of cleanser, moisturizer, Curology, and SPF. Any thoughts ideas you may offer would be helpful. Thank you
@@PeachesSkinCare Hi thanks for asking. Looks like my comment was added to my original post. Hope you can see it.
I love The Ordinary products

I couldn't just pass by without writing you...
I have been alternating the buffet with copper peptides and tretinoin for a couple of weeks. So far I'm pleased. Thanks for the reviews 😀
Yes, I think Penn Smith recommended doing that!
Thanks for the laugh, your honesty and candidness was refreshingly funny ! The only thing missing was a glass of wine, lol
🍷🍷🍷💕
Que canal tan absolutamente necesario y valioso!!!
Me da mucha pena no entender casi nada de lo que explicas.
Ojalá pudieras poner subtítulos en español para poder seguirte más.
Me ha encantado lo que he visto de tu canal.

You can use your lactic acid in your body cream. I put a few drops in each pump of cream and put it on forearms and top of hands especially where hit by the sun to stop the creping. xo
I’m moving it next to my lotion now 😁😁😁
Oh Dear! I have been there also and it sucks! You are such a pleasant woman and I like listening to you. Thanks for all the advise.
Thank you Helda! I definitely learned my lesson 😊
I’m so glad I found this video ❤
You are so easy to watch. I understand what you're saying. Alot to think about, can be very confusing.
Gonna try a few again.
I'm afraid of the red stuff. 😳
Jill H be careful and don’t use it too long.
I think it looks scarier than it is, though I find it stronger than the Drunk Elephant AHA/BHA which I have used for 6 months with no irritation.
Lynn Gleason, thank you.
Hello Lisa, From Lisa lol I'm new to your channel and here to stay. Thank you for sharing. I was thinking about buying some. Glad I came to your channel. Sent by Pretty Over Fifty. I'm 51, 52 in July.
Hey Lisa. I think we all get to a certain age and when our skin starts to change we’re trying to figure out how to stop it. As the weeks go by and my skin is still sensitive, I think the key is to test things out a lot slower. I know when I started using the tretinoin, I gave it four months before I started looking for results and adding other products but I with over-the-counter actives I was less patient LOL.
Hey Lisa, Cat’s Eye told me about your channel! I connected with her recently and she’s like my soul sister! She recommended your videos and I have to say I’m not disappointed! I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos and getting to know you more ❤️ you also sold me on the drunk elephant! I was looking for a chemical exfoliant and I was looking at the red one but I’m going to stay away from it until I build up to it like you recommended. Much love, Austin
Thanks for stopping by Austin! I love Cat, she has great reviews of a lot of Indie brands!
@@LisaMonique She really is amazing and I hope to look like both of you when I am older. I'm 26 and your skin is nicer than mine lol
Hi Lisa. New Subscriber here!! Thanks for this video. I'm a new midlife youtuber at the awesome age of 52 lol. I love your videos. Thank you for the motivation.
Thanks for the info...I just turned 50 and I will definitely stick to my Ceravae products😀. They do a good job at a great price point 👍🏼
Agree, and Ceavae is what most dermatologist recommend!

The Ordinary products are great !!!
I just love this video as its so normal 😁.
Haha, if my daughters did what I did, I would be lecturing them on reading instructions and taking care of their skin....do what I say, not what I do 😂🥰
I love Ordinary products, my face is clearer,, pores close up...I followed the Deciem Website AM & PM routine what to mix, & What not to mix
Amy Si
I bought a few products from The Ordinary and then contacted them as I wasn't sure if I had bought wisely for the concerns I wanted to address. They came back and told me that 2 of the products I had bought wouldn't address my issues and recommended a few. Not only that but I had told them that my saggy eyelids had really affected my confidence and I'd like something to address that - my left eyelid drops down halfway across my pupil every evening. It overhangs the eyelashes for the rest of the day. I have ptosis in my left eye. Anyway, I also told them I was retired early due to ill health and so my budget was limited. They recommended NIOD's FECC for my eyelids which is more expensive than The Ordinary. They said they understood I was on a budget and therefore they would like to gift it to me if that was okay with me. Needless to say I said yes! I couldn't believe it. I fell in love with it straight away. Not only does it lift the eyelids but it also makes the eyelashes grow! My eyelashes had become v sparse in recent years whereby they used to be so long they'd touch my eyebrows almost. 2 weeks into using the serum and my eyelashes were really long again!! I love the AHA/BHA peel and my 15 year old daughter uses it for her keratosis pilaris. She also uses the glycolic acid toner and between the two of them the kp on her face is almost gone.
OMGosh, I'm going to try it. I think I'll request a consult and try what they recommend. It will be a good follow up video! My daughter has TERRIBLE keratosis pilaris on her arms and thighs (and sometimes her face), I may have her try on the AHA/BHA on a larger surface and see if it helps. Thanks for all the info!! 💕🥰
@@LisaMonique No probs. Hope it helps. Dr. Dray also mentioned the secret key starting treatment essence could help kp. We get that on yesstyle. My daughters pm routine is cleanse with cerave SA cleanser. Then either glycolic acid toner or good molecules niacinamide toner. Then secret key and depending on where her skin is at that day perhaps one or two essences and moisturise. AM - when she can be bothered! - she just splashes her face with water, secret key essence, moisturise and sunscreen.
This is such a useful video Lisa - I really enjoyed listening to you talk about all "don'ts" Great product reviews!
The Ordinary help line said you can use the copper buffet with the 10% magnesium vitamin c.
Thank you lisa, great video!
You sound so much like me lol
LOL...just a little impatient sometimes 😂🥰
Great info
Hi Lisa new subbie. 😊 I've never purchased from The Ordinary, but have heard good & bad about their products. Loved this video, very informative & helpful. ❤
I think I may be ready to try them again...this time following instructions and seeing how their products work when used as they recommend.
@@LisaMonique If you do, please do a video on your findings.
Lisa, this is the first time I have watched you on YT. I have been watching a lot of different channels as I investigate The Ordinary products. I just want to say that I watched the entire video thinking to myself 'this woman's skin looks perfect, whatever she is doing, she is doing right. Your skin looks lovely and clear and you say it feels very soft. Now, I know that is NOT all there is to skincare but I think you need to stop worrying, which I think is quite common for women as we age. You look lovely. If my skin looked like yours I would be quite happy with what I was doing! JS *Subscibed *
OMGosh, thank you so much for your kind words!!💕🌸🥰
Thank you for this video I am just starting on the ordinary journey. I have started with a few of the products slowly and so far I’m doing OK. I have a few more products coming and I want to make sure I incorporate them safely.
Yes! Besides really paying attention to what not to mix, I do think it is a good idea to introduce them one at a time too.
I use Ordinary and I love their products. !!!!!
My favourite is Granactive retinoid the Emulsion.. its white and Niacinamide. Lazy days wash and apply. Oh and Argeraline. I thought i was reckless. You look gorgeous xxx💞❤💕
Thanks Angela! I’m happy to say it’s back to normal again, though I’m taking precautions and treating it like sensitive skin for a few more weeks while my barrier builds back up. Thanks for watching🥰
I just love The Ordinary products, along with the Australian owned Alpha H. I’m 63 on the 23rd of this month with Lupus and Sjögren’s Syndrome which has damaged my skin so I went from looking really young when I was still 49, and became ill not long after and spent a year virtually bedridden. and boy, what a shock that was, and a huge knock to my self esteem. So I mix and match good quality products that have excellent reviews, are affordable, and that do not do weird things to my very weird skin now.
I am 40, I love the products! I love the rose hip oil, in fact all the oils are good. I don’t use vit c in the am, I wear 60 spf on my face everyday!
OK you are the fourth or fifth person to mention the Rosehip oil, I am going to order it now LOL🥰🥰🥰
❤️the ordinary ⭐️there is nothing ordinary about these 🙏💪🏻💪🏻
I have used all of these and more from The Ordinary, vit C in the morning, niacinamide in the PM, without any issues whatsoever ..love The Ordinary!!
I am sure if I didn’t use wrong, I wouldn’t have had any issues! Well, maybe the vitamin C was still in too strong for me, but it would be the typical reaction where you apply, get the light tingle, maybe some redness, and then you decide to cut back how often do you use. It is a great line!

Awesome! Thank you! I just ordered new products based on the recommendations from their ambassadors...all new products, I can't wait to test it out!.
@@LisaMonique what are their ambassadors?
@@MascaratoMidnight The people that reply to their Chats. So I asked for a regimen, they replied, then I had a follow up question. It usually takes a day before they reply, so it's not quick answers but they do get back to you!
@@LisaMonique COOL!!!
I'm 68. Love, love, love The Ordinary.
I love them. And will continue to use them.ive thrown everything else out .
Been using Holy Hydration based on your recommendation which I Love. What I’m looking for is product specifically for frown lines. I tried some form of serum before but it made my skin oily. I’m age 60 and live in hot/humid summer location and dry windy in winter. Video and/or product under $50 possibly???
I'm honestly not sure if such a product exists!! You mean around the mouth?m. I'm thinking except for tricking the eye w/a lighter concealer, it would be hard to find something really effective outside fillers and/or botox to plump up that area for a real difference...though I hear red light therapy may be good, I just can't use it because of my skin type, it increases my melasma!
Thanks for sharing, from your new subscriber 👍👍😍
Thank you Grace💕💕
You could use the copper peptides in your morning routine and retain a in your pm routine.
I had always wanted to try 'The Ordinary' products but didn't know which ones to buy until I watched 'Faboulous50s'. Schellea explains which products to use AM & PM so they work well for ageing skin. I bought all the products she recommended and I love them. It's worth a look.
I love The Ordinary products and I was using a minimal few and my face was looking amazing and then I went and bought more and I did not do a skin patch test and I mixed some that I probably should not have mixed and I did have a bad reaction and I’m right in the middle of that reaction trying to get my skin back to a hydrated state. I had little hives and almost tiny blisters and today “day 3” I decided to try AHA Peel and The Buffet, then Hyaluronic acid followed with 100% Cold pressed Virgin Maryland Oil. I think was caused the problems were mixing the new Buffet + Copper Peptides and Matrixyl 10% and Niacinamide 10% and Argireline Solution followed with my nightly Hyaluronic Acid and Clinique moisturizer. I know it’s a lot but I got some more and I just wanted to try them all out since I had such great results before!!! I should have known better but now I do!!!!!!! Ouch it burns when it does this!!! My face looked better than it had it years before I did this!!! I hope it goes back!!!
Oh no!!! I hope your skin recovers soon! That sounds exactly like what I did. I should have known better too...I'm sure with some TLC it will be back to pre-hives state. Sometimes, less is more I'm discovering 🥰 💕🌸

Great review! I thought it was just me who would throw everything on my face at once LOL. I think I'm realizing I have way more sensitive skin than I ever thought I did. I'm gonna take yours and Penn Smith's advice and try a Vit C derivative that isn't L-ascorbic acid!
Yes, that's the one I'm interested now! 🥰🌸

Hi ...love your video....and I'm a new subscriber 😊
I use the Copper peptides after I use the exfoliant AHA/BHA followed by my moisturizers....no Retin-A the night i use that chemical exfoliant.
Resume the Retin-A the next night.
I love The Ordinary ... great products ..but you do have to do your research before using them.
Yes you do, and they actually have redone their website and it’s easier to find the info. Thanks for watching!!
I love the AHA/BHA peel and the Niacinamide. I also have the Sqalane, HA, The Buffet, the caffeine serum, and A few I can’t remember. I love the AHA/BHA and the Niacinimide but they are the only ones I’ll continue to purchase.
I think they are good standards! Thanks for watching!🥰
I like the red, I helps guide me to stay away from my eyes.
I use some products from The Ordinary, Timeless, and Curology. I’m almost 60 and my skin is glowing😀
Those are all brands I've heard great things about, especially for mature skin!!!🌸💕

Yvette, how do you find the nuface? Be interested to know, thank you.

How often do you use tretinoin and with what products do you use it .. please its very important because I want to apply in my routine
Thankyou ❤️❤️
So, I started using The Ordinary last spring, gradually built up products. I'm 70 (!), have what would be considered fair, normal skin. I tried stronger products mentioned here, the Vitamin C Suspension 30% in Silicone, AHA/BHA Peeling Solution, plus Glycolic Acid 7%, not on all the same days of course, all worked perfectly. Then two things happened: My hairdresser used a new hair dye (we did a patch test earlier), and winter hit here in Montana. I did not have an allergic reaction such as hives to the hair dye, but I developed an itch around my hair line and eyes, and I continued my daily hikes as the temp (and, humidity) dropped. Well, I developed peeling, itchy skin in patches on my face, so stopped using all products other than moisturizer and Vaseline--for an entire month. After all the little scabs and peeling disappeared, I reintroduced my TO products gradually, excluding the stronger products, no problems.
My take on this video: The Ordinary stresses and stresses not to combine too many products and never use them on irritated skin. Then, we must take into consideration other factors that may not obviously be the cause of irritation, such as hair dye--our immune systems may over-react, even in areas not in contact with a particular product, especially if our skin is already compromised. Finally, we must be aware how cold and low humidity, other environmental factors, effect our skin and take precautions ahead of time. And, stress, it's been a very tough year.
Agreed, I have removed almost all strong actives except the occasional use of the glycolic acid, and usually only 2-3 times a MONTH, just when my face feels like it needs light exfoliation. The dryer air is definitely a factor. 2021 is my year of babying my skin instead of aggressively treating it and seeing how that works!
Enjoyed the breakdown and review of these products Lisa
Thanks Ethan!!
Ohy Gosh! I totally GET you LOL I am laughing with you not at you. I have SO done this same thing. Not with the ordinary but different products but the same acids... I too watch all he videos, I tell myself I should write this down. Oh I can just look them up again or Ill remember this. HAAA NOT...
And the older I get, the harder it is to remember!! Thanks for watching 🥰
thanks so much for reviewing and shareing, can you share what type of tretinoin you use?
I use a .1% microsphere gel. It's gentler. I purchase from tarasc.com. I order and choose PayPal for payment option. I usually get the PayPal invoice within 24 hours. And since they mail from CA and I'm in AZ, I usually get the product within the week.
Lisa Monique Beauty thank you sooooo much 😁
Thank you for this Lisa I've heard good things about the brand but never tried it myself as we can't get some of the items here in Canada. 💕
I heard that....makes me wonder about the ingredients, lol 💕🌸🌷
Canada has stricter controls on retinol a and other "active" ingredients
Never introduce multiple products at the same time. Even if you use one in the morning and another in the evening. I always introduce one new products at a time and use it a couple of weeks before adding something new.
Kathryn Claridge yes!! My skin is so messed up now, and easily irritated that I’m going to go a step farther and only introduce a new product once a month, if even. I need to build up my skin barrier!!
