    The kit includes part number 707000666 parking brake lock and screws plus part number 707002241 OEM cover with hole drilled in it. These are the part numbers that I was given in an email from racingpowersports.com. I wanted to give you a link to the kit but it wasn't on the website anymore. Hopefully, they are not sold out. The phone number to racingpowersports is 888-438-6777. Give them a call and see if you can order the part. Hopefully the video helped you out.

      Thx for replying. The video helped a lot, I was not wanting to drill the hole since I just got the ryker but I wanted to install the brake lock. You gave me a way to install the lock and keep the original cover untouched. When I turn in my 600 Ryker for the 900 Ryker in a couple of years I can switch the cover back to original and install the lock on the new one.

    I ordered a step drill bit off Amazon and drilled the hole myself. Removed only the bottom, very easy to reach bolt. Lifted the plastic cover up just enough to slide the locking into place and screwed it in. Finally I replaced the bottom bolt of the cover and I was done. The whole job only took maybe 10 minutes start to finish.

    I don’t understand why Can-Am decided not to include the lock as standard in America. It comes as standard over here. That being said I think that little kit is nicely thought out and you’ve put together a detailed instructional video that will be a great help for a lot of people. Nice one mate. Keep doing what you do. Namaste Brother 🙏🏻

    Great video. Takes longer than you think and that top screw is a beast. I used a 1/4 drive tilting head socket with a T30 and that screw took easily 30 mins to get it back in. You will want lots of patience for that screw. Rest of it took 5 mins. When you are putting the new cover on it will bend a lot at the top, but mine didn't break. Wouldn't try it in cold weather.

    I ordered the lock mechanism and aluminum parking brake lever from Slingmods.com. I did have to drill the hole out. Unfortunately, after installing both, I found that the lock mechanism was too long when in the locked position with the aluminum handle. I had to reinstall the factory plastic lever. Somehow it has a deeper recess. They are sending me a new lock mechanism to see if the shaft is shorter, but if not I may have to grind down the end of the mechanism to get it to work. I really like the idea of extra security having both pieces be metal, instead of metal and plastic. Has anyone else had to same issue I have, and any tricks or suggestions?

  • @the1spyderryder
    @the1spyderryder Před 5 lety

    How does the lock engage the parking brake lever? I'm thinking a solenoid would be the way to go to lock this lever. The reason that I say this is, if you have the hard shell saddlebag then you already have two different keys to keep up with, and now it's up to three.

    • @budyser365

This is the one thing of value in any video as we all do not want to have to open the bike (clamshell) to get at one screw. Unfortunately, this is exactly what you didn't 'show - making this video useless to many. A simple tripod would have solved this.
