This actually proves how good the Ryker and the Rotax engine is, that it can take all this idiotic abuse and still function.
The lack of rear fender is what really made this project shine.

As a motorcyclist with over 250,000 miles under my belt, I also have a Can-Am Spyder F3-S. It's fantastic fun, and my favourite of my fleet - F3 plus four motorbikes and a scooter.

Surprised it did a little better than expected. Put a lift, a tougher front skid plate/ brush guard and a more aggressive/ larger rear wheel I think you will have something.
Side note: get the front tires a little wider or offset to the inside to add natural brake caliper and line protection.
The skid plate and figuring a way to raise the suspension for ground clearance would make this thing badass
And better off road tires.

As a father with 3 young kids who all enjoy wrenching with me in the garage, it’s very cool to see yours join you on camera.
I remember my dad doing that I was the flashlight man he would get PISSED OFF while fixing the vans but he made Mr and my brother laugh through his anger he never turned that anger on us

I couldn’t agree more, I now have 3 grown women that can change oil, tires, bulbs and do brake jobs. On top of that THEY LOVE TOOLS.

I also hate mud when riding, I'll turn back if theres no other way lol... nothing worse than coming home exhausted from a long day of riding to have to scrub and poke and pull all the mud out of all of crevices on the bike wash it down yada yada so I say screw mud all of it

I know a guy who has a 4dr 2005 1.3 Mitsubishi colt that’s being swapped to a turbo K20 making 500whp? (He said it was somewhere around there), that is one insane car and from the exterior it looks like such a granny car.
I laughed so hard when you hit the bogs and got stuck, dumping all that water and mud on top of you. It's an epic scene. You need to make that part a short video.

Ive been a wrench my whole life, professionally with Honda for 25 years,,, JB weld is a real fix and is god sent, I can't imagine working on these modern machines without it, so anyone makes comments that it doesn't work and it not a fix, really don't know what they are talkin bout!!

Pretty impressive considering that you did it in only two days or so. I thought about doing something like this myself when I came across a savage title CanAm. My idea was to combine the front end of a 4x4 four wheeler so you could have three wheel drive. More time spent on this and you could work out some of the flaws and make a pretty fun off road vehicle.

Two sport quad front tires in the front and maybe a front utility quad tire in the rear and that thing would have been WAY more capable. Shame they went through all that effort and basically put suv tires on it.
A lot of people have been putting crawler treds on vehicles lately.
Suspension would have to be reworked. The ATV tires would be shorter, and the Can-Am already sits pretty low. Designing a long suspension for the front would be basic, but changing the rear geometry to a much steeper angle and longer travel, could put undue strain on, or just break, the driveshaft and transmission.
Lift it please!
The mud runs were the best😂 This makes me wonder if, with front wheel drive or all 3, with tougher suspension and better tires, if this would be a winner.
Holy Moly! You guys are onto something huge! Imagine that bike with dirt bike clearance, knobby tires, and 🎉FRONT🎉 wheel drive. Don't forget the skid plates!

There’s a lot of channels that push just senseless quantity low substance content, but every single video you put out always has lots of effort and entertainment in them and I really enjoy them. AS an owner of a Ryker rally 900 .... if i were to turn it into an off road vehicle id opt for super thin front wheels and a beefier knobby back tire maybe even a paddle tire . Key to hill climbing is the speed and im shock you could drive out of the mud puddles. Ive been ATV riding in SOGGY BOTTOMS MISSOURI nobody leaves without being covered in mud!! AWESOME!!!

I think you guys hit on something that's pretty darn cool. With a few modifications I could see that going into production in certain parts of the country.

I like the idea of this and I personally would like the see possibly a tube chassis made to accept the entire driveline and front suspension of this bike with the ability to fit all the modifications you planned to do. Bigger, taller, more aggressive off road tires, snorkels for intake and exhaust, but you'd have to stretch the wheelbase in the rear for tire AND fender fitment! Not to mention a radiator w/ a fan going the right way.... 😚
But if they were going to build the frame, they might as well start with the engine and trans from a front wheel drive car and try to rig it to also drive the rear wheel.
When I was 14 a friend of mine had a Honda XL 100 his dad accidentally ran over with his food service truck totaling it, but the engine was still ok. We found an old dirt bike frame in some woods near us, we think it was a Honda 75? It had no engine and was pretty rusty. We cleaned the frame up, repainted it and with some modifications mounted his XL 100 engine on it. We had 3/4" galvanized pipe and fittings for exhaust, fenders and seat off his totaled XL and whatever bits we could salvage off the totaled XL. He rode that thing for 2-3 years.
What would I give to have a trike like that.
Sadly my Wife and my Mom says Nope...
Only because I've survived cancer 2 times. They believe I would get killed on a bike. But hope Is what keeps a man alive! They told me that if I had to have a bike. I could only have a trike. Still with the drugs they have me on ... I can't drive YET. So if I ever got one... I would just look at it and clean it until its my day to ride!

I thought about this idea for about thirty seconds, then realized that traction is going to be a problem. Maybe electric motors in front? Electric front drive would be a good addition to a regular off road motorcycle and/or "adventure" bike.

And also turned some boys into memories. I had a left bearing go out on a mountain road in Tennessee at full speed (the only speed I knew). It was ugly. When my rolled up I was walking it back up the steep embankment back onto the road.
I survived all the flips down the road and then down the embankment and up against a tree, I looked up just in time to see Big Red coming straight at me. I somehow dove from a sitting position out of its way and WHAM! Into the tree it went. Miraculously neither me or Big Red were seriously injured.
I had just a little road rash on my arms from the 200’ we flipped on the asphalt before going down the embankment. I have been well looked after through the years.🙏🏻

You’re missing a giant opportunity. Replace the front wheels with skis, use the back wheel to drive a track and you have an insane snowmobile. That would actually be interesting and entertaining.

Haha that’s awesome. Probably should’ve tried a smaller diameter rim on the rear with a more aggressive tire. Obviously would’ve had to figure out some adapters to make a different rim work but it would’ve been worth it. A maxxis carnivore or bighorn would’ve done wonders. Haha
Since most of the weight was in the front, if it was front wheel drive, it might actually work really well.
Thanks for the inspiration - I've been slowly building up my tadpole (I'm disabled, can't ride regular no mo) to be stronger and stronger - the goal is to have it be able to finish KoTH at some point, but I think I'll need some suspension tweaks before then.

We call them Spyder here in Quebec. They can be seen as bikes with training wheels. But they are actually road snowmobile.

The Ryker is the Spyder's lame little brother.
So cars have two sets of training wheels ?? lol. There's plenty of trikes out there, including harley. Older people like to continue riding, but have trouble holding up an 800 pound bike. It's still the same road and the same wind in our faces.
@@RandysRides We also call cars "Cages" or "Coward-Mobile" and we all drive one. Spyder people have all my respect, it is better to ride a trike than a car.
This actually proves a point of mine, my point being the simple fact anything can go off-road, it's just that too many are stuck on the ideal of road vehicles for the road, off road for everything else as they forget what makes most road cars great stems from rally, which in laments is taking road cars off-road at speed

The old way to fix radiators was to cut out the bad section and then braze it closed. You could used the aluminum brazing rods to seal the bad tubes.
These guys are not very mechanically inclined to do such tasks as brazing, or any real wrenching/fabricating/diag nor inclination of having any sort of calluses on their dainty hands, lmao...
Yessir the old way works well and is quite a reliable repair. But in a pinch or if reliability is of no concern I have found JB weld applied to pinched tubes + 1 can of course pepper added to coolant usually works quite well as a temporarily permanent solution..
Or just buy a transmission cooler, would be easier to source and less hassle

You two are what kids dream they could do when they’re adults. Have the imagination to do wild things while having the money to accomplish it. It’s a joy to see how much fun you guys have. Being stuck in that mud bog looked so fun. No fender needed. Also didn’t know can-am were only 1 wheel drive. Imagine if all 3 pulled it be a ton easier to take off-road but it only having 1 seems to be most of the fun.

Love my Can Am Ryker, the rally has a skid plate on it. Like a 4 wheeler on the road. Surprised the computer didn't shut down your fun and put it in limp mode. I also own a TW200 and a cruiser this is just a whole different way of ridding. And to be honest I would never even think about riding like yall did on mine. Loved this video.
I went on roads just as, or more, horrible on stock Rally edition - nature reserve in westernmost part of Cyprus. Sometimes it was plain jumping from stone to stone. That part Ryker can handle better that you'd expect.
However, my solo trip hit about the same speedbump with 2 nice chill-out hours 50 meters from the "westernmost point of Cyprus" map marker. Waiting for the more suitable vehicle to come and pull me out of the sand.
Because offroad tire can only do so much: Ryker is still 1-lightly-loaded-read-wheel-drive on a quite heavy vehicle. Runny dirt or loose sand and you're done, lifetime factory guarantee. ))) It's in the core design.
On the plus side, Rally comes with slightly elevated clearance by default (I believe it had the highest clearance of all Ryker/Spyder models, whereupon non-Rally Ryker has the lowest) and a skid plate! - which in my opinion makes it a no-brainer choice even if you're not planning on any non-tarmac terrain. Adjustable shocks are also quite handly.
Basic Ryker I tried struggled with some aggressive speedbumps - it is so low.
Another problem inherent with going off the road on a Ryker is the sway bar. Sometimes stock configurations hit the golden mean between conflicting applications. This ain't one of'em times. To ride Ryker on the road you pretty much need an aftermarket stiffer sway bar. While for terrain crawling with THIS kind of clearance you really wish you have none. Guess you can manually unscrew sway bar connections once you're off the asphalt, but that's a serious act of open-air service work. And re-attaching it after mud baths will be even more interesting.
I'll never understand how cool projects have to be done quickly instead of taking time to create a great vehicle?????
