How little you've accomplished?! You stayed clean, you've held a job, you have a method of transportation, you have a place to stay and at least two good friends around you. That's not exactly a little. Just make the next 4 months equally as productive.

you rock dude, seeing how you struggle with heroine addiction, and the way you give hope to addicts that feel hopeless and imprisoned by the substance that tricks people to make it feel like there's no way to live a functional and happy life once addicted. you show that even after multiple relapses, and hard times you've been through because this addiction, you are able to live a good life. no matter how impossible it feels at the time some body reaches that point when they can't stand the stress and misery the addiction causes and the desire to really get off it is there, but can't find a way to break the hold and it becomes less of a choice and more of something you need to function. you've proven it's never hopeless, and the fight for sobriety is a fight that is worth fighting. thank you for the hope you've given me to have a brighter future without this plight on my life. stay strong Dave, you are helping more than you know.

Jonathan Leavitt I had one grandpa who had a stroke, he couldn't drive, so I took him and my grandma out one day a week during the Summers on summer vacations, when I got my driver's license. They loved that.

Dave this is late seeing as I am fairly new to APS but you have so much support and love out here. Every one of us is behind you and Joe. What you guys stand for is awe inspiring. Trust me any chance I get I am always telling people to check you all out. I come from a long line of drug addicts myself included I've seen many of my family members in and out of jail. Keep up the good work and always remember when you feel you have no one to talk to there are over a million of us just here to listen and support you

If you think that's crazy look at old APS films the words Prison or Jail could not be used for a episode of a show called (never use "The" Joe does not like it) After Prison Show. Joe had to use Pr[one]son, Pris[zero]n, and Ja[one]l it was only when APS got big that the words could be used and even now some adds will not be used.

With all of the personal stories that Dave has told about all of the bids he has done in prison, one thing stands out to me. Dave has always tried to help other people with whatever means he had while locked up. To me that is a very admirable trait to have because most people in prison or jail only think about themselves. It’s really nice to hear that you are doing quite well since your last bid and that you continue to try and help others that are less fortunate than you. I also want to say that, like Joe you are an excellent story teller and I always look forward to hearing another prison story. Great video!!! Peace!!!

The craziest person I was locked up with was locked up for stealing a TV and ended up with a life sentence because he literally tried to hire a hitman to murder the Judge, DA and members of his jury .. Heck the first thing this dude seriously said to me was "do you know a hitman?" - dude seriously told me he wanted to whack the judge, I took his remarks as bullshit - but he was straight up serious.... If you wanna go look him up in the Illinois Department of Correction inmate search his name is Ryan Kirkpatrick.... If you look at his charges your jaw would drop.. There was something just not right with this dude, and looking back this dude was extremely dangerous but at the time I saw him as harmless.... This dude ended up going to one of the worst prisons in Illinois (Tamms)..... But it's crazy to think that dude ended up with a life sentence all because he stole a TV and took it upon himself to try to have judges, the prosecutor and jury members whacked..

Yea, because the guy is crazy.... He asked me if I knew a "hitman" the second I was put in the cell. I thought he was just talking shit, but the guy is crazy. Thank God I was only celly's with him for a few days. We did get along, I mean he lived in the same neighborhood I grew up in, so we knew some of the same people.. But he would say some pretty weird off the wall shit...This whole thing started because he stole a TV, and at the time that was his only charge, then a year later I read about his cases in the local paper... It's crazy to think the guy is still in prison almost 20 years later, but he is because he's crazy.. I always wondered what he was thinking, he stole a TV, how did that prompt him to try to have the judge killed, not only that but the DA and members on his jury?....

What was he like? he was odd, very vengeful.. He was obsessed with retribution, as if being charged with a crime for stealing a TV was somehow a personal attack on him... He's the type of person that would stab you in the eye with a pencil if he thought you did him wrong.. He wasn't that big, perhaps 5'3... But he wasn't very aggressive either, he was like the "village idiot" mixed with "the town crazy".... I saw him one more time after we were celly's in the county jail... I was in Joliet prison (the same prison same prison that "Prison Break" was filmed in) and they were moving us from chow I think and he saw me and called me out - he said some shit like "you keep on walking like that and you're going to get punked"... I have no idea why he said that...... The guy was without question a selfish sociopath "and no one was going to wrong him" - that was basically his attitude...
You can write him if you want, lol..... But I don't think he would make the best pen-pal.... He'd probably write crazy shit anyway and make crazy demands because he's crazy...
You can look him up on the Illinois Department of Corrections website... I mean his charges alone speaks as to who he is and how batshit crazy he is....
Let's just say it's a good thing that he's locked up for life because he would be in prison regardless because he's that type of criminal... I mean not everyone in prison is bad (or even a criminal) and most people are in prison for stupid shit like drugs.... They do a pretty good job segregating the violent criminals from the guys locked up for doing stupid shit.. But Ryan is one of those people just born bad, he's a total vengeful sociopath and he would find his way back to prison if he was ever let out.. And it's clear that he wants out considering his petition for habeas corpus... There is no way a parole board would parole him, because I'm sure the only reason why he wants out is so he can go kill those that locked him up in the first place... He wouldn't last 10 hours in the outside world.

Life always has a way of rewarding you if you work...you know, like you can't destroy matter it just transforms. You work and it doesn't go away, something always comes out of it.

I got 3 months solid recovery and I have no urges to go back and things like this that these type of stories bring me back to jail the smell like you can never forget some smells LOL and you know what does seeing what you guys were able to do makes me happy about the future because you never know what is planned out for you or what the world holds

Your welcome. People often ask me how I've stayed clean, whats the secret. I tell them that there is no secret. The only way to get clean and stay clean is wanting to be clean and stay clean. As long as you want it you wont fail. I also recommend that people seek a mental health therapist. Not because of mental health issues but because it can be hard to understand who you are after such a long period of being on drugs. It can be very hard to learn to deal with emotions, stressful situations, and even happy situations. Therapy helps teach you how to deal with those problems. Your brain also has a hard time producing the chemicals needed to feel happy after a long addiction. I wish nothing but the best for you. If you can, try to get a therapist. I was against it for a long time but i finally broke down and got one. Best thing i ever did for myself.
Truth_is_the _new_hate I have to tell you man what you said as a thousand percent true we as individuals need to want it we meet you want to be clean we can't do it for even our own kids and has to be done for us it's a selfish disease and it's also selfish recovery in a way and I've been told to go to a therapist forever and this time the difference is I truly want to be clean I'm done and I do see a therapist and I do take my Zoloft and no medications and as prescribed I don't sell them I don't you know what I mean you know since you've been clean and anybody who has gotten clean you know when that moment really is I thought in the past I was ready and I wanted it but I don't ways go back this time there is zero desire I've been around it people have done it around me not knowing that I am clean now and I've had to walk out of it and I felt no like no regret I didn't want to go back and use it with them I'm very proud of that and it's it's all what you make it man I love life I got three kids you know that I see all the time they're all together with a family member cuz I lost custody I was in and out of jail and on drugs same with the mother but now all is well men and I got to be honest if I could add one thing being single is a huge part of it for me I can't have any extra stress I'm the type that puts other people's problems before mine so for me that's a big thing that I had to get over in figure out and I've gotten past that I feel good

I was being transported for an out of county warrant... When we got to one of the jails for pickup/drop off.... Some dude got a couple bag chows, jammed them in the toilet and held the flush buttom while yelling "SEA WORLD!" Over and over again

Awesome video dave, I just got done watching another video about prison pranks that Joe did. I was going to see if you had seen any happen while you were incarcerated.
