- This is my 2016 Tour Divide ride. I actually shot this footage to be used in small clips to send back along the route to keep my friends and loved ones up to speed. This is all the raw footage. Never dreamed it would get this kind of traction. But you can get a feel for just how tough this race is. It was truly a life changing journey which I have drawn from and think about quit often. This race will change you.
EVERYONE THATS MY DAD GUYSSSS :)))))
I've probably watched this awesome video no less than 300 times. I think I have all of the dialogue memorized!
Such a great way to relive the beautiful course, hear encouraging words, see the massive beauty and share with others what this type of adventure encompasses. Thanks Konan!!
34 dislikes? How? This is great footage, and recognition of our creator! Thank you so much for recording this. TC & GB, Z
he mention religion which will always gets you dislikes as everyone has the right to believe on something or not,
I have a pic from my 2019 ride with the animals digging at a very small hole in the ground @ 1:00:16 mark of the video. Great documentation, thank you !!
I've been watching this as the indoor train for the border to border race. Thank you for documenting this for us.
I just watched your video for the second or third time and ever time I watch it’s so awesome to hear you talk and praise God
I have no plans of doing it again....but I have to admit, I think about it almost daily.
Superb effort chap! Well done.
its good to see another believer in christ doing this ride, i am planing on doing this ride in 2017 if you plan on doing this ride again let me know i would love the company brother. i really enjoy the documentary the senary and especially your praise and worship while on the bike awesome!!!!!!!
Konan, i stumbled on your video today, and just randomly jumped ahead and hit the spot where you talk about the wind at your back. The timing of hearing that was exactly what I needed to hear...right now. I'm struggling with a lot of things at the moment, and have been doubting my faith, and trying to control my circumstances. I feel a giant headwind in my face and it's time to turn it back over to Him. Very inspirational and encouraging video. Thanks brother.
enjoyed the video ... I don't think people actually appreciate how deep you dig into your own inner self on these events .. it's you, you and you . no one else is there to help .. it's YOU .. so well done
Big thx & I completed it in 22.5 days.
Congratulations and thank you for documenting and sharing with us.
Konan, when I heard you say at the beginning that you had only trained for 5 or 6 months, then I saw the Liv bike box, which I thought was a women's bike, I thought no way this guy finishes. I kept waiting for the sad story about how your body broke down, you underestimated the course, weren't prepared for the food and water rationing, didn't pack right etc. As the video went on, I realized that you must do other sporting events and that you did do plenty of planning. But the best part was that you were feeding off your faith. Great job man, you are one tough sucker and strong of his spirit. good job.
I’m really happy you’ve been happy during your ride(s). I’m glad you’ve had such great fortitude to focus. You’re very inspirational with regard to your ability’s. Do the right thing long enough & it’ll pay off.
Good job Konan. Epic adventure & thanks for taking us along.
I'm bike packing unsupported the Highland trail 550 in May next year.
God bless.
Konan, Thanks for sharing, brother. What a great story and an amazing perspective. Hoping to do this some day. Thanks again.
Amazing. Thank you for sharing. Just looked at your videos and it is inspiring to see you've continued with your adventures.
Epic. I love this video. You inspire me to take a chance in this life. You don't need t be a pro at what you dream about. Just go out and do your best. Thank you for making this. I'm going to have my 3 young sons watch this to show them about preserving through tough circumstances.
Well done video and journey. Thanks so much for capturing the essence of the TD. The TD has many up and down points both mentally and physically and you did so well in recording it all. Thanks for sharing ;
thank you so much for sharing your incredible journey! God bless you and your family!!!
Wow, what an awesome ride for you! Congratulations and thanks for sharing, it is a very personal inspirational video and shows what it takes to ride the divide.
awsome video respect man, that tour is on my bucket list
Seriously, I LOVE what you have done . Lord God or not. You are inspirational. 😀
This was incredible to watch! Thank you so much for making a video. It was wonderful for me to watch. I am heading out for my first bikepacking race this weekend and I found your video very inspiring. Thank you
I wish you the best! You are opening up a whole new world of adventure!
I see this video in the CZcams sidebar, thought I'd have a look, and soon found it captivating to watch. In the first few minutes I almost bailed, but then couldn't stop watching. Thank you for a very unique approach to documenting your tour and congratulations for the serious work and a ride well done. Epic for sure. Really loved the spiritual commentary... spot on and says a lot about you. Thank you for this, and yes, I watched the entire 1:28:54 of the video.
i loved every minute of your video
Great Video! My favorite so far of the Tour Divide Race. Love how you narrate and add some comical fun too! Sooooo inspirational. Please make more videos!
Thanks for your kind words. I do have one more video on CZcams of my 100 mile ultra run. If you google my name and 100 mile it should come up. Big thx
Konan Stephens #dddd
Great video. Nice to see a true account of that ride. Very inspirational. Thanks a lot!
watched the whole thing, what a great experience to look back on. thanks for sharing.
I thoroughly enjoyed your video on the GDMBR. It was a refreshing take from a 'non-professional' glitzy perspective, e.g. the doubts, discouragement, wear and tear, and determination.
Thanks for putting together this great video of your Tour Divide journey. I'm looking to toe the line in 2018 and have just started putting together my Salsa Cutthroat. Planning, prep and training is half the battle!
Preparing for my first 300 mile 24hr ride on road and watching your video for motivation. Chapeau! And rock on Konan! From Hawaii guy
Great video. Kudos. This ride is INSANE!

Thank you for sharing your adventure...! Your optimistic attitude and your spiritual analogies were encouraging. Thanks...
Thank you, Sir!
Thanks for this video! God bless you!
Wow! What a great achievement and way to hang in there and gut out those miles! Thanks for taking the time to record your journey and share. Enjoyed your Christian witness as well! I'm 54 years old and riding (not racing) the GCDT is a bucket list item I hope to achieve before I am 60. It may never happen but your footage and others at least give me a small taste of the experience. God Bless!
A great film and record of an amazing achievement
Great video, loved how you interwove your bicycle journey with your spiritual journey.
Congratulations!!!! Enjoyed watching your adventure!!
Good job. Such beautiful scenery. You can cross that one off "the bucket list".
Dude! Such an epic adventure and testament to perseverance, elegance, and faith!
I really enjoyed your documentary, Konan. Very enjoyable and spiritual journey.
Thanks for the upload it was fun to watch.
What an achievement!! I loved seeing your dad meeting you at the end of your race...
Awesome achievement thanks for posting the video fantastic.
Well done you
Alan
Wow I just noticed you captured some footage of Mike Hall in this video! May he rest in peace! Great video! I have come back to watch it several times over the past year!
Epic ride Sir! Very nice impression of the divide and the effort it will take to complete this ride...I hope to one day start this ride myself...bucket list material right there..very inspiring..👍
Great video and excellent narration of your trip. I really enjoyed it.
Great video Konan. Your strong faith is an inspiration. I did a 740 mile self supported canoe trip with a friend in 2016. Couldn’t have completed it without the strength and support our faith provided. We are planning to ride the GDMBR together in 2019 or 2020...NOT racing! Your video gives me the idea of what a faithful mindset and heart looks like. Thanks for sharing your experiences and a wonderful view of God’s creation along the route! I am so excited!
Huge respect and admiration. Some insane daily mileage to boot.
Pretty cool to relive the ride ( although backwards ) through your video. Nicely done !
Really like this video watched it many times, good info
I think, know!! you’re inspirational. You sum’d it up with; “this is an Epic Journey. What is yours?”
Couldn’t agree more.
It was good riding with you for a couple of days on and off. I made it to El Paso!
THAT WAS INCREDIBLE! Thank you for sharing your wonderful and very challenging journey with us! That was truly amazing that you set the goal of 110 miles per day on the trails, ascending mountains! I heard somewhere in your video that you were new to mountain biking(?) when you started this journey? I also noticed in the video and in a post below that you had a very good, but by some standards a modest mountain bike. Just goes to show people that it's the engine and not the bike, although your bike seemed to hold up great! Congratulations on your accomplishment! I don't know if I'd EVER do THAT ride, and not at that kind of breack-neck pace! Way to go!
My titanium Motobecane 29'er outshined a lot of other bikes that were twice as expensive or more. I literally rode it stock and only put on some aero bars and ergo grips. I changed my chain once and brake pads twice and one of my hand brakes had to be replaced. My back tire began leaking air on the last 65 miles...& when I got home I had to rebuild a pedal. But all in all, I couldn't be happier with my Motobecane for $1599;)
Hi Konan, awesome video. Thank you. Which model of Motobecane did you use to complete the race?
Thanks! I'm planning on running the Tour Divide in 2018, and was looking at the same bike. Just wanted to hear some real world feedback before I bought one.
Love it! It’s all about the engine!
Konan God Bless you......a great witness you are!
Well done.. great video coverage...
Just found your footage, amazing perspective. I look forward to competing in the near future. Thanks for sharing.
Congrats on an extraordinary effort! Great video, very inspiring! I'm going to do this race some day!
Really enjoyed watching. Ive seen a lot of video from this race and hopefully one day I can get enough courage to make the attempt.
Brother Konan, CONGRATULATIONS on your big life personal accomplishment AND NICE JOB on your video! Very personal and very real. You made it come alive, Brother. I especially like your willingness to put it out there on the Trail with a humble earnest sincerity to do it and overcome all. TQ for sharing, Konan! Long Distance Adventure Bikepacking Cinema Verite.
GOD blessed you brother what great adventure you shared what a Journey may you all ways walk with him amen 🙏 great video
Really amazing job Konan. Def want to do this someday soon
What a great video! Congrats on such an incredible accomplishment. You have inspired me. I’m trying to get my wife involved with biking too, so maybe one day we can do it as a team. Praise god
That is awesome. I've been watching all kinds of you tube videos on this. I would love to do this. Just turned 53 and with age and not having extended time off, just dont see it happening. That doesn't mean I cant think about it and dream. Maybe some day. I need to start by hanging up the road bike and purchasing a mountain bike. Yes, that's the start. :) Can someone tell my wife this is a "need" and not a "want"? Haha. Congrats on such an amazing accomplishment!!!!
LOL....You can do it!
rode it in 2007. great video, great memories.
Thanks for a great video! You get a thumbs up and added to my channels playlist "Tour Dived Rides". Happy Trails
Very Impressive! you're a beast!
I love your journey and the worship experience. Thanks for sharing and giving the glory to Him.
Kudos to you mister!
Lovely to see Mike Hall, may he RIP.
Toaster house made smile
Beautiful Konan.
Looks to me watching many Great Divide videos, that the roads are dry 90 -95 % of the time?
If thats the case, i'd run Panaracer Gravel King SK 700 x 43 which are actually 45mm wide for the dry stuff, really fast efficient gravel tyres, and swap them out with Thunder Burt 29 x 2.1's for the mud stuff.
Chapeau !
Great video very influential
I love your vlog
Great coverage - Congrats!!! Really enjoyed you video, seems like a very positive mindset you have. I have read several bloggs were rides complain about everything, scream at the sun for being to hot, screaming at people due to lack of food etc etc. But you had the energy to sing, make jokes and always be positive or thats the impression i got :) Have been thinking about the divide for 2 years now, last year much more detailed towards a depart either 2017 or 2018... I hope i will can bring the same mindset as you did.... How many jackets did you bring?? Any gearlist out there?
yes sir, well done.
rad video man
Nice video, glad you made it all the way. If you could, would you do it again?
Great coverage Konan. A friend and I are planning to cover section 1 USA Montana 541 mile leg. Seems like we can cover good mileage a few days in? I am planning 60 a day average. Any suggestions on my plan?
Hello Konan, GreT VIDEO.... any encounters or issues with Bears?? Thanks
just AWESOME!!
Want to do it also, some day
Hey, great video and well done! I really want to take part in the Tour Divide at some point, once my fitness levels are a bit higher and I can cycle longer distances. One question though, don't remember it being in the video. How long did it take you to complete in the end?
Congrats on the ride! How well did the Motobecane hold up to the rigors of the divide?
held up incredibly well. honestly only replaced one brake....a couple break pads and a chain.
Konan, just came across your trip on youtube. Very nice! I would be interested in learning about your video equipment - type of camera? How did you mount the camera? Handlebars or helmet? How were you able to video yourself while riding? Thanks for any information that you can provide.
The camera was a small flip sony video cam...I just held it in my hand. It is rugged and easy to used.
110 miles on day 1 doing off road? Wow! I can barely do that on tour bike.
where was that wind when you going up the mountain ?? those open meadow streams hold some of the best brookies in the world for taste and scraping at the end of your pole, God put em there you know.
Yes there are several people that do go Northbound every year, but not as popular as riding southbound.
Amazing journey that God led you to. He watched after you, especially in the mountains.
well I think I wanna try, how to I get started, do I need sponsors??
absolute beast. I do wonder though how all the jesus freak stuff impacted your performance...? Huge respect I doff my cap to you sir
Great video! What kind of camera did you use?
It was a Sony flip camera. I borrowed it.. lol .. it’s water prof and shoots pics as well. The cover flips down and your ready to shoot. It was an awesome little camera. Runs like $300 or lesss
Konan, Did you use a dynamo to recharge your Etrex 20, light, etc?
Yeah, wondering about this too, How did you kept everything charged?
I used the lithium batteries...they would last a couple days
What other endurance sports do you do? It sounds insane that you could do this after only 6 months of riding. Awesome!
I Climbed Kilimanjaro in 3 days / Rim to rim to rim the Grand Canyon in one day / Swam Alcatraz / Ran a 100 mile ultra / 2 Ironman distance Triathlons / River Quest ....Love the challenge!
Ha! Mike Hall at 4:31-4:33! Monster endurance cyclist!
Great achievement! Did I see a short glimpse of the late Mike Hall at 4:31?
Yes I saw him too, at the start. RIP
Great video, thanks for posting. Just one question - why bother to wear a helmet if you never tighten the straps?
Funny question...for which I don't have a great answer..lol
Where can I find info about registering for the grand depart, and preparing the route?
