  • This New Bright Covette gets the hobby grade 2S LiPo Mod. And I think it has more potential than this.
I don't recommend any particular store that sells these yet, so if you find it cheaper, great! Let me know too so I can spread the word.
These may total around $75 - $95 depending on where you decide to purchase from and may vary in Amazon based on availability.
If I gain enough subscribers and requests ill set up conversion packages that have all these parts included in one box for a cheaper set price.
    Parts:
1x ESC : Umm...Don't Bother its over priced for just one.
2x ESC Just in case you cook one (I have) : 30A ESC Brushed Electric Speed Controller w/Brake (2 Pcs) www.amazon.com/dp/B07MX3514Y/...
Steering Servo (These can break on some impacts, s0o having extra is bliss!): SG90 Micro Servo 9G Servo (5 Pcs) www.amazon.com/dp/B081ZY23V4/...
Controller and Receiver Combo (Pre-"Binded" OTB with an extra toggle button for accessories like lights): Flysky FS-GT3B 2.4Ghz 3 Channel Radio Transmitter Receiver with Flysky GR3E Remote Controller - www.amazon.com/dp/B08NHZDDVF/...

Nice work. I see now why it's so popular to mod New Bright muscle and sports cars. Have you thought about using a stage 2 XMODS Evolution motor? The kit comes with the motor, heat sink and several gearing combos.

Thank you! I have, Interestingly XMODS are what got me to buy my 1st 30A brushed esc in the first place. I wasn't recording then but I changed out everything in them to run them on 2S lipo batteries. I have 3 units of the 1st Gen, 2 have full upgrades. Guess I'll have to showcase those too. I have only one stage 2 motor left and since they are also hard to come by, I'm TRYing to preserve the one I have...because I'm itching to open it and count the turns it has to duplicate them. Instead I'm ordering a Kyosho XSPEED 56 brushless Motor (5600KV) www.amazon.com/dp/B07JZSWXW3/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_E2Z5JRWBTE08ZGSPY0WM?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I've know about it for a while but Gearing was an issue up until last night. I just discovered a 2mm bore 14T pinion with a set screw (for another car I'm working on) that will fit and solve my torque issue on this car as well. "2 Birds, 1 Stone" for me. So several episodes will be coming asap because of this discovery.

How to make a hobby grade RC Car

That's right and you would be surprised of the results on something you could already have at home.

so I have the same RC AWD Forza C8.R but I don't know if I want to do a motor swap I was thinking of taking out the drive shaft so it will be RWD. The problem is I don't want a car to be more dependent on the rear wheels. So I wanted your options of what you do and some other "simple" mods that I could do

Watched this video, where would I get a replacement back axel?

Most likely contacting new bright, and asap before they change the design again. It is already unique and may not last long in production. I already got me a 2nd one since I did the 3d print... A tad too snug all around.

I just bought this RC to mess around but the steering is horrible. Is there mods that would help that?

    • @backtothetrackgarage8790

I've looked at this issue too, from what I could tell there may be a way to shave down or trim any places in the steering rack that may prevent it from extending further.. I'll make a video attempting this for you.

@@xxxthamasterxxx I just looked at this again and it's not looking good for modding. I recorded a vid but haven't posted it yet, because there really isn't much change. Adjusting the steering will require something more drastic...

I really like the Traxxas Brand. The 4 TEC 2.0 VXL m.traxxas.com/products/models/electric/4-tec-2-vxl-chassis Chassis has alot of tops you can find online and its super customizable. The Brushless Motor will last nearly a lifetime. That's for the road and flat surfaces. I have a Rustler 2WD Brushless (I occasionally regret not getting 4WD) that dominates all terrain even through grass at 20-50mph depends on the height. My 3S-4000mah battery runs 30 min, my 3S-5000 about 45 min. All traxxas brand except for my Motor and esc by Hobbywing, and indestructible parts by GPM.

Is there anyway to swap the wheels on this? I bought one and the back two wheels are so wobbly.

    • @backtothetrackgarage8790
      @backtothetrackgarage8790  Před rokem

There are a only a few other cars that match this style of wheels, but you may just need to tighten the screws on the wheels. Mine eventually came out too.

thats a toy grade rc hobby grade is way better then this.

The purpose is taking a toy grade car up a few notches so that it's close to hobby grade but, without all of the bells and whistles. A semi-hobby grade car is not a thing to underestimate. Speaking from experience here. Furthermore, some people have to use whatever is available within their budget and some just do this for fun.

Thanks Dan, Exactly. Some younger viewers are curious of their toy grade cars and really want to know so they can do it too or know for sure it's a waste of time. I personally like to find the even older Radio Shack RC's because some designs have Hobby Grade quality parts and might as well be on Lipo. Some are able to take 11.1v, can have larger motors, have carbon brushes, can shift Lo to Hi, has a differential... Plus not many people have them left around. Like driving an oldie, but for RC.
Parts cross over all the time if you look closely. Toy grade has the ability to cross over into hobby grade and that's what really matters. Getting people to that level and with confidence. Walking into any hobby store can be overwhelming alone for a newbie. It's alot of complex info to take in.
