Hey !!! I’m a student of pharm D of 2year from India can u pls give me a idea how many exams should I write …to persue my career as hospital pharmacist in the USA !!
in the US, there are two board exams you must pass. One is the NAPLEX and one is the law exam that is dependent on what state you live in
Can you explain the process after passing the Cpje exams, and do we get the job as a clinical pharmacist directly or after a month or two?
Well, for me - I was accepted into a pharmacy residency program right after graduation. So I took my naplex and CPJE right after graduation and then started residency right away. As pharmacy residents, we have a grace period in which we don't need to be licensed at the beginning but need to eventually become licensed by a certain deadline or else we lose our residency. For those that did not do residency, they applied for jobs either before graduation or right after graduation. If you secured a job before getting your license, most places require that you pass your boards and become licensed by a specific time frame (different for each place). I have heard horror stories of people losing their job because they did not pass their boards in time :( Whereas some people wait until they have their license and then they start applying for jobs. However, that can take a long time. I hope this helps!
But after passing both of these exams on time, can we get into clinical pharmacy?
And can you please make videos on, how did you pass the Naplex and the Cpje exams and which books and tutorials either from youtube or some other sources help you pass the exams? It would be a great pleasure for us :)
Thank You so much this helped me a lot :))
@@kashishsingh6943 yes I plan to eventually make a video on that! ☺️
Hii I'm a 11 th grader looking to become a pharmacist may I please know your age and how many years of experience you have if you don't mind sharing it and how's your work- life balance and do you suggest others to get into pharmacy please reply 💜💜💜
I am 29! I went straight into a 4 year pharmacy program and did a 1 year of hospital pharmacy residency training ☺️ work life balance varies depending on what specialty you go into. If you want to be a hospital pharmacist, you’ll have to be open to working weekends and holidays once in a while! Since the hospital is open 24/7. Depending on your facility, it could be manageable or it could be a lot. I am fortunate where I think my schedule isn’t too bad and is somewhat flexible - so I don’t mind it for now! Before you pursue pharmacy, you should research about job availabilities in your area. There is a saturation of pharmacist in certain areas so I would only recommend this profession if you are open to relocating and you aren’t tied to a certain area ☺️
@@SarahPharmD thank you so much for replying ♥
hello dear pharmacist, 😊I follow you with interest. I am a first year pharmacy student in turkey. I want to work in the laboratory or in the field of cosmetics as a researcher. What skills should I have for this? What are your recommendations? There is a lot of competition in the field of laboratory and cosmetics, what should I do to hold on? How can I make a difference in this university process? How can I follow a path to work in a pharmaceutical laboratory in Europe or America?
I'm not Dr. Sarah but I just wanted to share what I know in case it's helpful to you! I'm not sure about pharmacists working in the cosmetics industry. I'm sure there are some. But in the US, there's a job for a cosmetic chemist. From what I heard so far about it, you're responsible for formulating products. You don't need a pharmacy degree to pursue being a cosmetic chemist in the US. I heard that most people just learn on the job. Some companies will support you if you want to take on a masters in cosmetic science while working though, but there are only a few cosmetic science programs right now. I don't know if that helps, but hopefully it gave a little bit of insight!
Thank you for explaining! That was a perfect explanation!
Sleepyyme provided a great explanation! like how sleepyyme said, pharmacist don't typically work in the cosmetic industry. There might be a few, but it is not a common career path for our field! I don't think a pharmD degree is not required to become a cosmetic chemist in the US so I would not recommend pharmacy school if you plan to pursue that field.
Hello Dr Sarah! for a student who is studying at pharmacy school, which one you will prefer iPad or MacBook?
I prefer MacBook for lectures so that I could record and type everything (sometimes the professors talk too fast) but I do like iPad to write over the lecture notes. It ultimately comes to personal preference ☺️ I’ve tried both and I think MacBook worked the best for me!
@@SarahPharmD thanks so much, useful 🫂👍
