Work in Progress: Giving and receiving peer critique

In their professional lives, researchers must report findings to their peers, to wider academic and scientific audiences and, importantly, to the communities in which they have conducted research. In this exercise, students practise by presenting their interim findings to a multidisciplinary group of fellow students and facilitators. They cannot depend on a shared vocabulary or assumptions - the challenge is to explain what is emerging from their study in a way that everyone can understand. In addition, students learn to listen to and learn from constructive review from those within and beyond their own fields, and to offer helpful critique and questions to colleagues.
