The little comment about the angle of compressor, to access nut is good advice. I just did my springs with same tool. I learned that if compressor is too far up coils, it doesnt come out. I had to take spring back out and lower top hooks on compressor down a coil. It would bind on bottom as well, if too far down coils.
Keep plenty of good quality oil on threads. I think mine is an Astro brand, btw they make a real good quality overseas tool. Never thought I would be able to say that. But for some one who uses spring compressor once every year or two it is fine.
It's a f#cking pain in the you know what...to do. I just replaced the structs on my car. 60% of the time was used for compressing the spring to the new struct. Took me 2 days, with a banged fingers, pulled a muscle or two, and tons of swearing. LOL and be really careful or you could seriously get hurt.
The light weight Mc Pherson Strut or Motorcycle tools are not made for the big Car or Pick up springs they are much to stiff for that. While you don't use these tools that often it is false economy to buy a cheap one.
To get the coil spring off my car I have to use a coil spring compressor with plates. There isn’t enough space to use this type of compressor in between the coils.

I am at the swearing point right now.
I have tubular control arms on my nova but the tool is too big to fit through the bottom hole any suggestions?
Ive seen 2 types of tool. One like mine and the other uses spoon looking things..could try that?
Good info on the dangers of A-arms and springs....
Yeah....
@@lonestarlows more info on how they hurt
For about 6 bucks a car it's worth it. But if you want a good one from mac or snap on and they last forever.
Did you have any trouble getting the bump stop installed?
Been a while. But not usually

What kind of car?
Did u grease threads? Tool like that should last a while no? Anyway, smart to replace. This shit scares me more than lathes.
I do lube with some motor oil. I'd trust this tool for like maybe 6 coil springs then replace out of an abundance of caution
I did this using the compressor with 2 rods on my 84 buick , HD springs and the rods actually bend and heat , was unsettling to say the least
Why put the video on pause when you are installing it? Why do you think we come to Y.T.V, just to hear you talk?
Video the whole damn process.
You don't have to watch it. You could buy me a camera and a tripod and pay for the internet bill if you'd like?
