    Well, Chunk wasn't hurting for sustenance during his absence. LOL He looks like I feel after Thanksgiving dinner. ;) He's all set for the harsh winter ahead.

    Love Otis and Chunk but I would be voting for Holly. The sows have contributed so much for the healthy Katmai brown bear population. Miss 409 and 410 tremendously!

      @@lorimcdonald3926-Maybe 128 Grazer? She is quite large, dominant for a sow and she is a lip fisher. Many momma bears do share their catches with their cubs.

    Looking forward to fat bear week, all looking great specially Otis because of late arrival and Walker kinda struggled for Salmons in early weeks. Chunk looking all good as scar is healed, despite of injuries he is hunk of Brooks falls lol

      Don’t get me wrong, I love this feed and love watching the bears. But it think it must be boring for them just sitting there waiting for a fish to swim by it catch.

    I was hoping 911 & 634 would make a showing this fall to be contenders for Fat Bear Week. I love love love Otis too who has made a huge improvement on weight gain considering he showed up so late this year! Holly would also be a great contender if you included her cub Jolly :)

    How did Chunk get the scar?
    OK, I can ID Chunk by the scar, but how on earth do you ID the other bears? They don't have giant ear tags like cattle. I see only two types of bears: large and cubs. Otherwise, they all look the same to me!

      I'm useless trying to ID them. Even with the bear books I can't do it, but there are a lot of Rangers, viewers, etc... that are pros!!!
      I can usually get Otis because of all his scars. Sometimes I can get adorable Walker because of his dark fur and ears.

    I feel like I’d be body shaming the bears if i say anything about their weight! I will say they are amazing beautiful creatures and i am glad they are getting ready for winter.

    So glad the Fat Bear Contest is handled on FB since the explore "mods" have banned me from commenting since I offered some constructive criticism about park management allowing that huge group of tourists directly into the bear community on the lower river.
