    Hard to believe there were so many traumatic shipwrecks in that beautiful landscape. Love the photography.

    One of the houses i grew up in had a reputation for being haunted. Though none of us living there ever seen anything even vaguely ghostly. Anyone at the top of the staircase at midnight, would hear something coming up the stairs, hitting every step on the way up. We thought of it as a recording that played at the same time every night and soon ignored it. Our friends from school staying overnight and hearing it, usually filled in the missing cause with some sort of ghostly apparition, that never matched what others thought they had seen. For us it was a way of knowing when it was midnight, like a alarm clock.

    Having lived in at least 3 haunted houses I can assure you that ghosts do exist but mostly are not at all sinister & can be helpful at times.

    The Maid of Sker is the same story as The Maid of Cefn Ydfa and stories grow taller down the line, lol, I don't believe in ghosts either, arguably it's our own imagination, love hearing about local folk tales though, thank you 😊

    I know of two properties in Bargoed that are well rumoured to be haunted. Persistent reports of poltergeist Activity at Gladstone villa, a family claimed to have seen a monk. The R A F A club directly opposite is one of the oldest buildings in Bargoed, dating back to the 16th century. It is said that there is a priest hole in the cellar with the remains of a monk but it's sealed up. A male member of staff claimed to have been pushed by unseen forces , a former teacher also said he heard footsteps late at night there, turned him into a believer . Look up "THE GHOSTS OF BARGOED". It convinced a skeptic.

    Apparently historians now say there is no evidence that wrecking actually occured in Cornwall, although I know it is traditionally believed it did.

    • @flydriveexplore
      @flydriveexplore  Před 3 lety +2

      They definitely stole from wrecked ships on the Welsh coast but they were probably opportunists. Whether they caused the wrecks may be doubtful. Due to the weather and tides, there were plenty of accidental wrecks in the days of sail.

      Wrecking did happen I was there we did use false lights.i got shot in the head on the next day after the wreck got lurd and looted. Went on the beach in the morning with my mole and cart collecting the last bits then the customs came and shot me got the scar to prove it round about 1820 I died from a reincarnated wrecker as we use to say back in the day are lanterns are our tools of are trade.
