I am also from GA as well, and this was just how we “summertime.” Mom always, and I mean always, ensured we cleaned up, but the fun that was had made the clean up worth it...almost! 🎉😂
I think it’s called racism, homophobia and classism. The assumption that it isn’t their property underlies the comments. ‘How can two lesbians, one who is black, and one a lowly teacher, own such a lovely summer home? They MUST be renting it.’. I have been a daycare provider for 39 years. My yard has many bare spots from lots of playing and digging holes. At the moment I have six children playing happily and using there imaginations. I wish Ms Chang taught in our school district. I love her sense of humor.

I am suprised so many people think you would allow that to happen on another persons property. But that is a fault of thier own device, either they know people who would do something like that, they have done it/would do it themselves, or they have had it done to them. All the hard work of maintaining a perfect lawn will ultimately get you....a nice lawn. So glad I was raised rural, we got to PLAY! I grew up like that and had the absolute best childhood. My family actually owns vrbo rentals and the kids can be hard on things but honestly for the price people pay to stay we just let them have fun and replace things occasionally as needed. They’re only kids once!

There is a woods by my daughter's house and I love seeing all the kids go back there (supervised) to play. Vacation houses are meant to be relaxing. So what if there are some toys scattered around. So glad you and your wife can offer the boys a place to play in nature and enjoy a relaxed lifestyle. I'm a retired teacher and I know how precious summer vacations are.

MissChang, I wish more parents were as thougtful as you. You examine situations without prejudice and then lead with kindness and grace. I raised 3 kids and I was strict but not rigid. There were 4 rules my kids had to follow and those rules were not negotiable. Those rules were,be kind, help without being asked,be polite and respectful, clean up any mess you make. My kids are incredible adults now and part of that is because they had the freedom to be themselves within certain boundries.

I once heard someone say “messes make memories.” That shifted my whole concept of play being messy. My childhoods happiest moment were toy throw about, my hands in some mud, and bare feet in the grass. Idk guys take a deep breath and let it go because the pictures of your clean home on your Instagram story doesn’t actually matter when your kids were screamed at to clean it up.

We have two teen boys who are delightful, kind, and helpful AND YET we sometimes refer to our basement as “the frat house” cause they aren’t always the tidiest. 😆 But they are quick to clean up when reminded and are generally helpful. Oh good grief...some people really need to get over it. I knew when I was watching it that you were being funny when talking about the "frat boys in training." They are children having fun. At the end of the day, the messes are cleaned up just in time for a new day with new messes to start. These are the times the memories are created. Those children are going to one day be in their 30s, 40s, and 50s and will look back and say "I remember our summers at the lake." Live, love, and enjoy each day with all the blessed messes!
When I watched it, all I thought about was how great of a time the kids were having with their summer. They are only this age once. And it never occurred to me that there wouldn’t be a clean up session either at the end of the day or before you left. Those people must have not had good childhoods. I once heard someone say “messes make memories.” That shifted my whole concept of play being messy. My childhoods happiest moment were toy throw about, my hands in some mud, and bare feet in the grass. Idk guys take a deep breath and let it go because the pictures of your clean home on your Instagram story doesn’t actually matter when your kids were screamed at to clean it up.

Agreed! We have two teen boys who are delightful, kind, and helpful AND YET we sometimes refer to our basement as “the frat house” cause they aren’t always the tidiest. 😆 But they are quick to clean up when reminded and are generally helpful. Let kids express themselves. Especially in this day and age. I never see any kids outside playing or being creative. It breaks my heart because that’s all my friends and I would do. It warms my heart to know that your kids have creative ideas for games. That video made me smile. You could clearly see how much fun they were having just by the state of the yard. People complain when kids spend time inside, and say "kids don't play outside anymore" and then turn around and complain and moan and police how "unruly" kids are when they do actually play outside. Ya wanna say to them "so what? Did you just play hopscotch and do community service as a kid?" You can't please anyone 😑

Oh good grief...some people really need to get over it. I knew when I was watching it that you were being funny when talking about the "frat boys in training." They are children having fun. At the end of the day, the messes are cleaned up just in time for a new day with new messes to start. These are the times the memories are created. Those children are going to one day be in their 30s, 40s, and 50s and will look back and say "I remember our summers at the lake." Live, love, and enjoy each day with all the blessed messes!
When I watched it, all I thought about was how great of a time the kids were having with their summer. They are only this age once. And it never occurred to me that there wouldn’t be a clean up session either at the end of the day or before you left. Those people must have not had good childhoods. Also, I hate Pompus grass so let them tear it up. It’s nearly impossible to kill it even if you want to. Keep making their wonderful childhood memories. ❤️

Those big Mabel’s we got one for our kids and literally I couldn’t get it back off the water😂😂 I had to get my sons grandpa out there to help, since it was his boat we borrowed. Must be doing something right to have folks coming this hard at ya. Love you & your family❤
