  • Part truck, part van, V4 version 2.0 is one of the coolest Ford E-350’s we’ve ever come across. Built by the E-Series experts at Ujoint Offroad in Fletcher, North Carolina, this 2021 Ford Cutaway was built to do it all. From an all-aluminum bed to a massive 7.3L Godzilla V-8 under the hood, this 4x4 E-Series defies convention in every possible way. On this Inside Line, our Senior Off-Road Editor Ali Mansour catches up with Ujoint owner Chris Steuber to find out just how this one-off build came to be.

    This is an amazing set up. I live in Australia and flat beds (utes) are very popular purely for versatility. The number of options is huge and it’s a great set up for 4wd touring.

    Cool looking rig. Just wondering what the advantage is to a van front? Seems like a lot of work to finish the back of the cab and convert it to 4x4 when you could just order a reg cab or super cab c&c F350 already 4x4 and build from there? Not knocking it just curious what the reason is? A shorter nose is about the only benefit I could think...

      Overall length. You can have an 8 foot bed on a van chassis that is shorter than a short bed single cab pickup. In this era of absurdly long Super Duty crew cabs with tiny beds, it feels like the only way to get a useful truck that you can parallel park in a city.

      @DrivingLine  Před 2 lety +1

      Well, hopefully, you don't have to work on the engine often. So, that won't be as important. I think the big difference here is that the E- Series cab makes it where you can have a longer bed, without the added length of a truck. This thing is fairly nimble on the trail.
