That depends on what you defines as "rich" and your economic priorities. The base Spot sell for $74,500. That is without the arm. To put that in perspective, that would be the same price as a Tesla model Y (short range all equipment). That is about the middle of Tesla's price range. $49k-$147k. Cars drop in value quite quickly so this robot might actually be a better investment. Though, prioritise buying a house first

The magic comes from the way the machines are programmed to maintain balance, not from precise motion on a flat and level surface, but from dynamic stability routines that can compensate for slippery, uneven and unstable terrain (hence the "dynamics" in Boston Dynamics). So essentially, they DO program the robots to move, but the dynamic subroutines determine HOW to achieve the movement.

@@AdamMclardy sort of. The robot contains movement algorithms based on how humans move and maintain our own balance. Which is what animation software was based on as well so it could replicate us. The robot also has sensors for determining its orientation and balance. It simply knows how to move to keep balance and uses movement profiles that are smoothed like ours to distribute inertia from movements. Like when you rapidly fling your arm out. It overshoots just a little and has a little bit of bounce as it stabilizes in the position you want it. At the same time your opposite shoulder moves to counter balance and absorb the inertia from that move. It was actually Disney Imagineering that discovered this as the key to more realistic movements in their animatronics. The robotics field quickly followed suit and found ways to automate it in code rather than pre program it.

현대 자동차가 인수한 게 신의 한 수 같음. 분명 30년 후에는 스타워즈 처럼 로봇 스튜더스, 로봇 하인 생길 듯…ㄷ

The next step is to make the Robots' arm to mouth the words of the songs they dance to.
I'm 51 & seeing the progress from the 80s, into the 90s, into the 2000s, into the 2010s, & now into the 2020s just blows my mind - simply because I remember a robot moving from left to right & up & down & they called it dancing, but alas it was simply movement.
    This video Was dancing.

honestly though. These dog and humanoid robots will be no match for swarm drones. Just think 50 coming at you. All have explosives attached.. dogs done for, humans done for.

People who find this cute and not creepy and sinister have not been paying attention.
The whole reason 5G and 6G are pushed is so that there is enough bandwidth for the AI to control drones in real time not so Johnny can download the latest game quicker.
There is a reason they associate them with man's bests friend and have them perform cute little acts.
you are being programmed into accepting them on our streets as non threatening but if you think their role will be humanitarian (It will first be rolled out that way) then you are in for a big surprise.
