- Noisy fans watching live TV coverage of the Olympics as well as a race starter's pistol may have started the panic inside New York's JFK Airport Sunday. The panic spread like a contagion, from terminal to terminal to terminal. When people saw others screaming and running, they joined in the stampede. Security expert Bill Stanton told Inside Edition: "It's the herd mentality. Someone sees someone all panicked and they get panicked and it has that domino effect." #InsideEdition

This whole thing was started by a gunshot on TV? It makes me laugh but it also makes me sad because of the day and age we live in.

Indeed. I have been in YVR (Vancouver International Airport), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and none of the TVs had their sound on. Instead, each one had sub titles running.
There's some foamy earplugs that you can get that you can still hear but it dulls the echo, they use to recommend them for rock concerts. It helps, the loud sounds add to the anxiety and panic.Even just sticking one in your ear. If you feel anxious at the airport. Just make sure you take it out if security talks to you, so they don't think you're not listening to their instructions.

*a pistol shot in the olympics race and the airport people decided to put the volume higher because they have boring jobs and wanted to screw with the people and then the airport staff all secretly went into a room with popcorn and drinks and they all watched the security cameras and started laughing their asses off and to make it seem real, they all gathered up their Pokemon cards and battled each other and the loser would have to call the cops. Then they continued to eat popcorn and watch the people in the security cameras scream like this is some kind of movie theater.*

Something similar happened to my school once, it was after lunch and I folded my empty milk box into a cube and stomped on it which makes a loud ass boom noise, and right before I stomped on it, one of my friends yelled “he’s got a gun!!” and everyone was screaming. Pretty sure I would’ve got expelled if they knew that was me. We also got anonymous bomb threats every other day.
