This has by far the best Hardware design of any CCR to date. The cooling design in particular is a major improvement on previous products, it will keep the SFP cages cool as well as keep good air velocity

Really awesome looking hardware and would love to get some of these devices to run my own tests. Sadly we recently bought more 1072s and need to stick to v6 devices until v7 is in a good space for the ISP market. But when v7 is fully polished I really am looking forward to putting some of these incredible looking devices down.

I'd hoped MikroTik would be able to get access to graviton 2 for the future of ccr1072. Looks like Amazon may not have released it for non-AWS use yet. Despite that this is quite an impressive offering. I'm loving the combination of AL chipset with Marvell ASIC, it's got magic written all over. I think with RouterOS v7 updates over the next couple of years, this would become a true beast.

Nice indeed. Also really like the video and presentation of all the important details.
That is a bit of overkill for me, but cool system. My routing needs are only 25Gbps, and I do this using custom 2U system with asrock rack mobo, ryzen cpu, broadcom nic and vyos. And that will be ok for years, but for 100G, definitively I would need something more, and ths CCR2216 looks really good for 100G.
For switching on the internal network, I am happy user of CRS504-4XQ-IN on 7.15beta6, connected also to a S5860-20SQ, and some other switches (one 10G switch and and few 1G, total of about 150 ports), but with time a product not dissimilar to CCR2216-1G-12XS-2XQ might replace both of the core routing and switching.
Like how you really rise the bar at every price point.

Will there be a verion with 32GB of RAM later? I think with a device with those capabilities it would be very beneficial to have an 32GB RAM option.
Then this device could be an direct competitor to the Juniper MX204 in the routing department.
16GB RAM is getting a bit tight with multiple BGP fulltables in a provider network.
We're close to hitting 1,000,000 routes (currently 914,818) in the global IPv4 routing table alone.

    • @mikrotik

Dude, pfSense is a firewall so you'd expect it to have layer 7 functionality. Incorporating that into this kit would kill the throughput as it'd have to go through the CPUs, not the L3HW forwarding. The Ubiquiti kit has throughput of a few gig a second.
That said, RouterOS7 supports containers so if you really wanted that stuff you could happily install it and people have :)
