I just love how everyone is watching the man talk, knowing full well he has no idea who it is he talking too. They are waiting for the beat down that everyone, except the father, knew was coming.
With these terrific characters, all the real life history behind the camp and all the possible plots that could have been created after the great fire, that show could/should have lasted at least 5 or 6 seasons. Maybe 10. One of TV's most tragic fate for a series, no doubt.
I always loved the show. However, I didn't realize as a teenager watching Deadwood when it first aired that Bullock was suffering from a severe anger problem. I always thought the actor who played him was just bad and stiff as an actor. As an adult I realized my misjudgment and nothing could be further from the truth when it comes to Tim Olyphant. Re-watching the series and knowing he battles with an incontrollable rage which is always ready to boil over made it a completely different experience.
There is something so strangely gratifying watching a man spit his teeth out after receiving a well deserved beating. HBO was supposed to make a movie called Deadwood with the same actors, taking place 10-15 years later. But like most of their grandiose announcements it never came to fruition.
It's been a long time coming, but the movie finally started production earlier this month! tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/deadwood-production-has-begun-on-hbo-reunion-movie/
@@fontbot now it's coming in spring and it seems like there is absolutely no marketing for it. Couple very brief climpses in HBO's new shit that is coming trailer, that's pretty much all I've seen even with searching. I hope they didn't make it with too small budget thinking there ain't that much interest for it... we will see. It could very well be the end that this masterpiece deserves, you can only hope.
@@leafsfan1728 Having watched it again on DVD recently I can say it was a thoroughly satisfying tie-up of all the loose ends. Delighted it got made eventually - and with the original cast in place....a miracle in film and television.
I know i will be out of step with some on here, but for me Timothy as good as an actor he is, I just dont get the air of menace from him the same way I do Al ,Dan,Hearst or Tulliver.
I agree, i feel Bullock was the most naively written character on the show, the strangely idealistic, not utterly sane man feels out of touch with the surrounding chaotic realism of a frontier settlement. I mean it probably was the idea behind the character, but then i don't think it was well planned and/or executed by Oliphants acting. Not sure what exactly went wrong, but i feel something did.
That's the point. He's the sheriff, he represents law and order, you're not supposed to feel the same type of menace or threatening feeling from him that you feel from Hearst or Al at times. Personally, I think Olyphant did a terrific job at "selling" to us Bullock's inner rage, mainly with his facial expressions and the way he talks. I can't see anyone else playing that character.

if you listen in the back ground you hear someone say "yup" right after the first hit.
Every one of these scenes it's like he's loading Fists.exe before he beats up someone.
"Gentlemen watch the felt" *smh* Damn I love his swagger... sway Tim.
RIP Ricky Jay; a true legend.
The writing, the acting, the cinematography and direction. This show was fkn perfection.
My favourite series of alltimes. Sad that it was cut atleast one season short. The characters on this series are unmatched

@@brickcitycomics2135an anger problem towards shitty people who try to harm others. That's a good thing
Famous last words.
Swing away Merrill.
The best part....."Gentlemen watch the felt"
LMFAO, he greatly overestimated his leverage and then underestimated Seth Bullock. 😂❤
Lol, the camp pugilist
1:51 - “I really did not think he was going to hit me.”
...and swing he did.
LMFAO

Bullock: Badman of Deadwood
his holyness lol
I tried doing this with my girlfriend’s deadbeat dad. I thought it would make her love me but instead she called the cops.
Never in television history has a woman been so turned on
Watch the first few minutes of Sopranos D Girl S02E07
ooph! all these manly men beating each other up, pent up rage loosed on anyone confronting them with the truth. good grief!
When Bullock seethes he looks like he has downs.
