MUN Fan here, gotta be honest this guy was a legend, super talent, I recall vacationing in Rome 9 yrs ago and he was on TV speaking to a journalist from the USA , they asked him what Lazio was for him, he replied my heart and soul, and West Ham is there as well ... wow that was priceless.
Arsenal fan, but this guy was absolute legend and terrific footballer.They no longer make it like him,oh god how I miss the late 1900s and early 2000s.
He was brilliant to watch. You never knew what he was going to do!
How many players would sit on the side of the pitch and say he wants to be substituted because the ref isn't giving anything 😂😂😂.. Absolutely my hero.. He'd be no good for us as a manager, but oh boy would I have him here now!! Rather 1 day as DiCanio than a lifetime as Moyes (sorry Dave, but it's Paolo we're talking about here)
Not a west ham fan but this guy has bundles of passion, charisma and talent. He scored the best goal in PL history with that scissor kick and I would put him as probably only second to Cantona as the most iconic and talented player in the PL.

He was a proper footballer, there aren’t many left in the modern era. Played with heart and passion, you can tell when he didn’t! Not a hammers fan (born in Leeds and in my veins) but I can admire character craft, skill and grit when I see it.

I was sitting next to Paolo on the press gantry at our last ever match against Manchester Utd at Upton Park. Nicky, you're absolutely right, he is a gentleman and he told me he felt very privileged to play for West Ham.
Eleven Paolo di Canio's would win the league every year and that's from an arsenal fan , LEGEND !

I was at upton park when paulo turned keown inside out against arsenal and when he scissorkicked himself into immortality with THAT goal against wimbledon.Paulo had the most charisma and watchability of any west ham player I've ever seen live and I've seen some good ones!.What a player and what fantastic memories he gave us.

An absolute legend for West Ham. The ultimate entertainer. I was at Selhurst Park when he came on for first appearance after about 75 minutes against Wimbledon and he received a standing applause even then. I met him after queueing for his book near Covent Garden. His goal against Wimbledon will be forever etched in my mind. I was in the East Stand (E39) right in line with Sinclair's cross.

You don't get players like Paolo anymore. You can tell he lived, breathed and just wanted to play football. He had passion, respect and love for the fans and he rightly received the adulation from them.
I'm not a hammers fan, but was always a fan of Di Canio as a player and his conduct as a person. Will never forget that goal when Barthez was trying to bluff him, holding his hand out for offside.
